After a long time, I decided to have a light drink alone and head home. The place I visited was the "Gindako Highball Sakaba" that I had been curious about. The restaurant is located just south of the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel, near the former Daimei Elementary School site. I opened the manually operated sliding door and entered the store. Upon entering, I could see octopus balls being prepared on boat-shaped plates that were baked. I was looking forward to seeing what kind of takoyaki would be served at a Gindako-owned store, but it seemed like they were pre-made, which was a bit disappointing.
I arrived at 5:40 pm on a weekday, and even though it was a weekday, the place was quite lively, mainly with young people. There are table seats as well, but since I was alone, I chose to sit at the counter. The menu indicated that there was a cover charge. I'm not a fan of cover charges because it feels like drawing the short end of the stick if it includes ingredients I don't like, so I confirmed when ordering, and they said there wasn't one.
I ordered the Mega Jim Beam Highball, 4 pieces of takoyaki, and the Aisamori Makapote. The takoyaki arrived promptly before the drink. (laughs) I had to wait for the Highball to arrive. The Highball had a lot of ice in it. (laughs) Honestly, the takoyaki was not as impressive as I had expected. It was delicious, but I was hoping for something even more special from a "takoyaki specialty store."
You can see the kitchen staff working behind the glass from the counter, which can be good or bad. I personally don't like seeing the microwave in operation in front of me. It feels like I'm just microwaving at home rather than dining out. In the midst of all this, the Aisamori Makapote, which seems to be a signature dish of the restaurant, arrived. It was nice to have two types of salad to enjoy.
The service was neither good nor bad. The bill came to 1,628 yen. If you're not too picky about takoyaki, this place is good for a casual drink. It doesn't have any particular strengths or weaknesses, just an average restaurant. Thank you for the meal.
