I have received souvenirs a few times and have purchased from the station souvenir shop, so I knew about it, but I visited to eat the Camembert soft cheese. It was busy due to the Obon holiday, but I was able to buy it right away. This time I bought the blue cheese. It was well-aged and easy to eat. It was really delicious. I also happened to buy pudding at half price. Of course, the Camembert soft cheese was rich and this taste can only be experienced here. It's a must-try for cheese lovers. I will become a regular customer. I recommend buying the bread from Okudo Farm across the street! It goes well with the simple and high-quality bread.

Hokkaido Wandering Trip 8: Niseko Town Cheese Factory Soft Serve Ice Cream! I wanted to try the Cheese Assortment with 4 types of cheese, but it was ¥680 two years ago and now it's ¥1000, so I gave up. I tried the Camembert Soft Serve for ¥350 and the White Birch Plain for ¥680. The Camembert Soft Serve is delicious with plenty of Camembert cheese mixed in. The White Birch has a mild saltiness and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients.

I originally visited the shop for soft serve ice cream, but ended up buying a cheese pudding that caught my eye in the fridge. The soft serve ice cream was reliably delicious, but the cheese pudding exceeded my expectations by far. It had a strong cheese flavor and maintained a perfect balance of taste and texture. My companion also highly praised it. I would love to try it again if I pass by the shop in the future.

Inside the store, there are counter seats and table seats where you can enjoy cheese at a leisurely pace. ◆Cheese tasting set Compare and enjoy four types of cheese including blue cheese, wine-marinated cheese, and natural cheese! They all have a mild flavor and are easy to eat. Raisins are also provided, which are perfect for cleansing your palate during the tasting or pairing with the cheese! You can also purchase cheese as a souvenir! ◆Powder Snow Short Maturity ¥970 A mysteriously textured pure white cheese that is fluffy and crumbly! When you eat it, you can taste the milkiness! It's similar to the flavor of a melting cheese. Easy to eat but moist and rich! It has almost no strong flavor, so it should be delicious when paired with other ingredients.

Niseko Cheese Factory in Niseko Town! Cheese lovers should definitely visit! You can encounter incredibly delicious cheeses that you don't usually get to try! The cheesiness of the Camembert soft serve ice cream is also interesting! #Hokkaido #NisekoTown #NisekoCheeseFactory #Cheese

I came to Niseko. When I arrived in Niseko, I wanted to visit Niseko Cheese Factory. They sell delicious-looking cheese. They also have an eat-in option, so I decided to buy some souvenirs and eat them before heading home. Today's cheese platter and iced coffee were a blissful time. ^_^

After visiting the popular wood-fired bakery in Niseko, the next stop was Niseko Cheese Factory. I love cheese, but embarrassingly, I had never heard of this place before. They have won several prestigious cheese awards, and their selection of mouth-watering cheeses brought tears to my eyes! From Ku: to Yuki-hana to Koji... and Mimolette, which is served in JAL first class. When I tried it back in Nagoya, I understood why it has such a great reputation. I was impressed by the level of improvement in Japanese cheeses. If I have the chance, I would love to try their Burrata. Thank you for the delicious experience! P.S. The Burrata from Hokkaido served at Chef Takeshi Shibata's "Take Bar" in Nagoya is also exceptional.

I wanted to recommend this cheese on the way back from my favorite spring drive to Yoteizan, so I stopped by. This time, there was Camembert that was sold out last time, so I jumped at it. Niseko Rokka, when divided into six pieces, looks just like white petals, so I imagined it as Rokka (six flowers) on my own. This Camembert has a pure white white mold. Yes, it looks like the white snow covering Yoteizan, and it is beautiful, just like "the white snow flower blooming on Yoteizan." While most Camemberts are natural cheeses with added heating processes, the white mold and lactic acid bacteria are alive, so the aging process progresses slowly. Depending on the cheese, I think the peak of flavor is around 14-17 days before the expiration date, so I waited until then to open it and am writing this review while enjoying it with today's evening drink. The white mold is mild yet slightly spicy (due to the aging of the white mold). Camembert starts to melt after about 30 minutes at room temperature, but this one is melting slowly, so I want to wait a bit longer. Some Camemberts develop a nutty aroma at 14 days before the expiration date, but this one is more subdued. It is easy to eat with a pleasant milky taste and moderate saltiness. This type of refined Camembert would go well with white wine, either on its own or with light accompaniments.

I visited the Niseko Cheese Factory in April 2022. I wanted to try the blue cheese, so I chose the sharp one out of the two available options. When I opened it, the cheese had a beautiful pattern and a mild aroma. It was slightly tangy, with a balanced saltiness and a smooth texture. I also bought some delicious tofu in Niseko, and when I topped it with blue cheese and drizzled olive oil, it made a perfect snack to enjoy with wine. ♫

Niseko Cheese Factory started as a small family-owned natural cheese factory. Their Mimolette "Momiji," which was even used in airline meals, is one of their signature products that I love. Recently, they relocated and expanded their factory, updated their equipment, and are now able to produce higher quality natural cheese in larger quantities. However, due to a recent TV feature on Camembert, there has been a sudden shortage of their products, leading to a halt in sales. Their Second Generation Gouda & Mimolette is priced at 788 yen, while Niseko Town Charcuterie Akai Shi, featuring venison pate, is priced at 780 yen. The venison pate, crafted by skilled charcutiers, is easy to eat with no unpleasant gamey taste, yet it retains the rich flavor of venison with just the right amount of saltiness, pairing perfectly with wine. The Gouda & Mimolette, although slightly young, offer a deep and rich flavor for the Gouda, while the Mimolette has a unique taste that lingers pleasantly on the palate. Both cheeses have a subtle bitterness that signifies their rich complexity. They pair well with red or white wine, and I personally think they would also go nicely with a smoky whiskey.

On October 21, 2021 (Thu), during my first day of the autumn Hokkaido trip, I visited "Niseko Cheese Factory" in Abuta District, Niseko Town. I had been curious about this shop for a while, and finally got the chance to visit. I arrived a little after 3 pm. "Niseko Cheese Factory" is run by two generations of a family and they have been recognized for their excellent cheeses, being selected for the menu of Japan Airlines' international first class and winning a silver medal at the "Mondial du fromage 2017" in France, the home of cheese. The shop, located just off the main street, has a very stylish and lovely atmosphere. The interior is simple and calm, creating a comfortable space. There were many delicious-looking cheeses on display, and although I was tempted, I had to resist purchasing any as I still had two more days left in my trip. I plan to order some for delivery at a later date. There is also an eat-in space where, under normal circumstances not during the pandemic, they offer cheese and wine pairings. It would be a wonderful experience to enjoy that in this atmosphere. I tried the popular dessert, Camembert cheese soft serve ice cream priced at 300 yen. The marriage of homemade Camembert cheese and smooth soft serve ice cream was full of Hokkaido charm. Despite using plenty of Camembert cheese, it was surprisingly refreshing, making it enjoyable even for those who are not fond of sweet treats. Thank you for the delicious experience.

Holiday outing series. At the end of August, I went camping in Niseko. I went to "Niseko Cheese Factory" to buy cheese for camping snacks. I personally like Mimolette, so I wanted to visit the store once. Looking at the showcase, there were so many types of cheese that I couldn't decide. There were cheeses that were half price because the expiration date was near, so I got a good deal. I also bought Niseko beer that I had received as a souvenir before because it was delicious. I drank it while sitting by the campfire, so there are no photos (laughs). Here are the cheeses I purchased: - Niseko Sekka: The dried papaya and pineapple sprinkled on the surface have a crunchy texture. It is a fresh and sweet cheese, so it would go well with white or sparkling wine. It tastes similar to a rich cheesecake, so you can enjoy it as a dessert. - Niseko Ku: Collaboration with Niseko Sake Brewery Sake Kasu. This collaboration caught my attention! Cheese and sake kasu are both fermented foods, so they seem to go well together. I ate it on crackers, and the flavor of sake kasu was strong. Even without drinking, this cheese alone might make you feel tipsy (laughs). I wish I had tried the limited-time soft serve ice cream in Niseko since I don't have many opportunities to visit that area. It's also recommended to stop by Niseko on a drive. You can buy cheese in Sapporo, so I want to try other types as well. It was a delicious meal.

I really love cheese, from hard types to washed rind, white mold, blue cheese, and even strong-smelling cheeses. I especially enjoy aged cheeses like 2-year-old Comté and Parmesan, as well as the rich flavor of Époisses. Whenever I travel for work, both domestically and internationally, I always make sure to buy cheese before returning home. During one of my trips, I came across Niseko Cheese Factory's Niseko Marcellan priced at 840 yen, which was described as a cheese served in first-class flights and with a melting texture. I thought it might be similar to Époisses, so I decided to buy it. However, when I tried it, it had a dry and crumbly texture like cottage cheese, with a sourness and lack of flavor, completely devoid of the richness I was expecting. I love cheese and have tried many varieties, but this was a first for me. I contacted the store to inquire if there was a mistake, but they confirmed that the dry texture and sour taste were intentional characteristics of this cheese. It was not due to poor storage conditions or ammonia smell, as it was consumed on the same day it was purchased. Unfortunately, the cheese was not to my liking, as I prefer cheeses with rich flavors rather than sourness. Despite its appearance resembling Camembert, it did not have the creamy texture or flavor of Camembert. Even when brought to room temperature, it did not become creamy. It was more like a dry, bland, and sour cheese reminiscent of yogurt. Given its price of 840 yen, I was quite disappointed, as I could have purchased a cheese more to my liking at the same price. However, it was a valuable learning experience. I did not enjoy it enough to finish it, so I apologize, but I must provide my honest opinion. This review is specific to this cheese, and other cheeses from the same store may be different.

[Niseko Town, Hokkaido] A cheese specialty shop located to the east of Niseko town center. It is situated at the southwest foothills of Mount Yotei. From Niseko Station, head out to Prefectural Route 66, pass the intersection with National Route 5 (at the corner of the Michi-no-Eki) and continue towards Rusutsu and Makari. Proceed east on Prefectural Route 66 for 3 km, past the signs for "Central Median Strip - Caution" and "Intersection - Caution," then make a left turn. It is located on the right side after a while. It is 6 km east of Niseko Station (10 minutes by car). Open every day. The location is typical of Hokkaido, with vast fields and a straight road running through it. While being at the foothills of Mount Yotei, you can also overlook Niseko Annupuri to the west. It is a cheese manufacturing and direct sales shop, with a café attached. Some of the products include: [Blue Cheese] Sora [ku:], Sora Choujuku [White Cheese] Camembert [Yeast Cheese] Marcellan, Marcellan Matured "Kona Yuki" [Washed] Fuon [Hard Cheese] Momiji, Gouda x Tsukura Wine, Gouda x Niseko Sake Lees Mimolette, Gouda, Extra Hard [Fresh Cheese] Mozzarella, Caciocavallo, Melting Cheese (Plain, Spicy) [Sweet Cheese] Setsuka (Papaya Pineapple, Rum Banana, Yuzu) In addition, they offer limited items for dine-in only, such as Camembert Soft Serve Ice Cream, Niseko Cheese Pudding Cheese Plate 4 types, Quattro Formaggi Pizza, and Diamant Croissant. They also have a selection of wines that pair well with cheese. All products use 100% Niseko-produced fresh milk. The flagship product is the Blue Cheese "Sora" Ku. It has won awards at various cheese competitions and is a high-quality cheese. The opposite end of the spectrum, the Sweet Cheese "Setsuka," with dried fruits on the surface, is unique and likely to be well-received even by those not accustomed to eating cheese regularly. The "Gouda x Tsukura Wine," which uses wine lees from Tsukura Winery in Toyako Town, is also an intriguing product, but unfortunately, it is only available seasonally from spring onwards, so I couldn't get it this time. The Camembert Soft Serve Ice Cream (¥300) is a limited item available from May to early October. It's interesting to see Camembert used in this way. ------------------------------------------------ ■ Sora (Small ¥734) *Takeout price incl. 8% tax An award-winning blue cheese. The shelf life is about 1 and a half months. It's nice that you can buy it in a small size. According to the shop's description, it has a "mild blue mold, refreshing bitterness, nutty flavor." Blue cheese is not something I eat often, but I decided to give it a try. It is said to show its true value when melted, like in fondue or raclette. I started by slicing it thinly and eating it as is. The marble pattern and the crumbly texture are typical of blue mold cheese. It occasionally crumbles but never becomes too sharp. Being a blue cheese, it has a strong salty taste, but it's well-balanced and not overpowering. It also has a subtle bitterness, making it a taste that truly "enhances alcohol." Since it's a salty cheese, it pairs well with sweet wines like sherry or port. After about 3 weeks from purchase, the cheese becomes alkaline and starts to smell of ammonia, which is also part of its character. At that point, try toasting it on bread and eating it with honey for a luxurious taste. ------------------------------------------------ ■ Setsuka - Papaya & Pineapple (¥1404) Diced dried fruits cover this cheese, giving it a beautiful appearance reminiscent of hydrangea. The shelf life is about 3 weeks. It looks beautiful and is a fun item to enjoy. The taste is almost like a dessert. In addition to raw milk, it contains a lot of cream. It has a refined acidity and is similar to sour cream, but with a hint of saltiness, so it's not tiring to eat. It pairs well with white wine, but the combination of dried papaya and whiskey is exceptional! Among them, I recommend pairing it with a local Nikka "Yoichi" whiskey. ------------------------------------------------ ■ Gouda & Mimolette Crush (¥788) A cost-effective product that allows you to enjoy two types of hard cheese in one bag. The shelf life is about 2 months. It includes a light yellow Gouda and a vibrant orange Mimolette.

I went to Niseko Cheese Factory, a shop often featured in magazines and such. As we entered from the road, we were greeted by a cow (^_^) Inside the shop, there is also an eat-in space where they sell items like Camembert soft serve. Today, my purpose was to get the cheese pudding that my wife asked for! I forgot to take a picture of it and ended up eating it quickly! The rich and addictive blue cheese pudding was finished in no time. Another item, the melting cheese, is so soft and gentle that you won't be able to go back to store-bought cheese after trying it. My recommendation is the Gouda! It was delicious~.

Around 16:00, ordered a platter of 4 types of cheese for about 680 yen. The platter included the following 4 types: - Blue (blue mold) - Marcellan (yeast) - Yukihana (fresh) - Papaya & Pineapple Gouda Each type had 3 pieces. All the cheeses seemed award-winning in taste. Blue and Yukihana are within my top 3 favorite cheeses. I would love to try them with honey. Yukihana is practically a dessert. It looks lovely when ordered whole, making it a great gift idea. The quality for this price is exceptional. They also offer Quattro Formaggi pizza and almond croissants for eating in, which I would love to try. A must-visit when in Niseko.

When I visited Niseko last month, I found a new shop that I hadn't seen before and decided to stop by. It turned out to be the Niseko Cheese Factory that I visited last year, but they had relocated to this new location! The new store is beautiful and has a seating area where you can taste different cheeses. They also sell wine, making it a cheese lover's paradise! Although I wanted to try various things, I ended up buying the Camembert cheese soft serve, which is only available at this location. Compared to when I tried it last year, the Camembert flavor was much stronger, and you could even taste the white mold on the surface. The Camembert cheese soft serve was delicious! Since it's a limited edition item only available here, I recommend it to all Camembert cheese fans. Next time, I plan to bring a cooler box and purchase a variety of cheeses. Thank you, Cheese Factory, for the wonderful experience!
