I visited Tennoji for the first time in a while, but I didn't feel like moving around too much, so I decided to have lunch nearby. I headed to "Ten Kara Ten" on the 1st floor of the Hoop underground food court in Abeno. I hadn't eaten at this restaurant before. It was still a bit early for lunch, around 11:20 am, but the food court was already open, which was convenient. The main menu included dishes like fried chicken bowl (780 yen), shrimp tempura bowl, chicken tempura bowl, vegetable tempura bowl (each 790 yen), tenkara tempura bowl, Yamnyon fried chicken bowl, sweet sauce fried chicken bowl (each 860 yen), Shanghai shrimp tempura bowl (890 yen), conger eel tempura bowl, shrimp extravaganza (each 980 yen), manly tempura bowl (1,340 yen), and more. You could also add small udon or egg tempura for an additional 100 yen. I ordered the shrimp extravaganza. The food court provided a buzzer and I waited for my order. The tempura was made to order, so it took a bit of time. When my order was ready, I picked up the shrimp extravaganza on a tray. It was a tower of tempura, with four shrimp tempura standing tall in the bowl. Behind the shrimp tempura were three types of vegetable tempura (lotus root, eggplant, pumpkin). I removed the lid of the bowl and rearranged the tempura for easier eating. I also remembered that I had asked for extra rice, which was served. The tempura had a nice color and wasn't overly fried. The shrimp were slender but tasty. I alternated between eating the shrimp and vegetable tempura, along with the rice. By the end of the meal, I was almost full. As I get older, oily foods seem to affect me more, but the tempura was light. The dipping sauce was not too sweet, which I preferred, but I tend to like sweeter sauces. Overall, it was like a visual feast with the shrimp tempura tower in the bowl. Thank you for the meal!
