This is a shop located on the 3rd floor of a building at the corner before the old Komageki theater. I heard that there is a very cheap and delicious yakitori restaurant here, so I came to this place. Although it is a chain restaurant, I had never heard of this name before. It seems that "Ikkyu" has a long history as a chain restaurant, developed from the suburban areas west of the 23 wards of Tokyo. It has now expanded to the 23 wards, and this shop in Shinjuku Kabukicho opened in December 2012. It had been a long time since I entered Kabukicho. Many restaurants line both sides of the street, and in front of me, a tall building for the new Komageki theater is under construction. The building where this shop is located is across from the new building. You take the elevator to get to the shop. By the way, there is also an Izakaya Ikkyu on the 2nd floor, but this time I am heading to Yakitori Ikkyu on the 3rd floor. When I got off the elevator on the 3rd floor, there was a sign in front of me that said "Yakitori Ikkyu". As soon as I entered the shop, a staff member came and guided me to my seat. Smoking or non-smoking was not asked, and all the seats around me were smoking, so it seemed like they were all smoking seats. When I looked at the menu, another staff member appeared and explained about the membership card. By presenting the membership card, you can get dishes and drinks at a member price. To become a member, you need to fill in your name and pay a membership fee of 300 yen, but looking at the menu prices, it seemed like the 300 yen membership fee would be quickly recovered, so I became a member. Then I tried various dishes. Food - Taste: 3.5 Although the shop is named Yakitori Ikkyu, when I opened the menu, there were a lot of skewered dishes. Not only yakitori, but also beef, pork, and tuna skewered dishes were on the menu. It seems that you cannot have these at the Izakaya Ikkyu on the 2nd floor. They all looked delicious, but as it was my first time at this shop, I tried the standard items that I have had before for comparison. They were all juicy and satisfying skewered dishes. The most impressive was the crispy chicken wings. I had never seen crispy chicken wings before, so I tried them along with the regular sauce chicken wings. The sauce wings had a sweet and salty taste that I enjoy. The crispy wings had a texture similar to fried chicken. The crispy batter itself was delicious, and the meat inside the chicken wings was juicy and tender, with a bouncy texture, which was very delicious. There were various other dishes that I don't often see in other izakayas, and they all seemed delicious for their prices. Service - 3.2 There is a call button at each table, and the staff will come when you press it. You order by calling a staff member, following the old-fashioned system. The serving time for the food was not particularly slow, it was normal. It can't be helped about the smoking, but I wish there was some way to improve it. Atmosphere - 3.0 This is the atmosphere of an old-fashioned chain izakaya. I think there were many tables for 4 people or 2 people. Cost Performance - 3.6 I thought the member price was a good deal. Although you have to pay a membership fee, you can become a member immediately without providing any personal information by just writing your name. By ordering two items, you can quickly recover the membership fee. I thought that all the customers in the shop were members. Alcohol/Drinks - 3.3 There was a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. There were various brands, but especially a wide variety of cocktails and sours, which were enjoyable. The overall rating is about 3.5. I thought it was a cheap and delicious restaurant, at least in Tokyo. Recently, I have seen many chain restaurants, but this one had a unique atmosphere.
