Sunrise Diner Okibariya @ Higashiosaka City Honjo Blog ⇒ The everyday meals of an old man from Kawachi, and sometimes alcohol. It is located at Nippo Diner Okibariya, about a 13-minute walk from Aramoto Station on the Kintetsu Keihanna Line. Do you find yourself unusually hungry when driving a car? Especially when you travel long distances on highways, your appetite seems to increase more than usual. This is because you are constantly processing various information and repeating actions to process it. It seems like you're just sitting still, but you're actually doing quite a hard job. That's why many long-distance truck drivers are big eaters. You often see them devouring large portions of rice at late-night drive-ins. This diner is here to satisfy the stomachs of these truck drivers. The Higashiosaka Truck Terminal started operations in 1968 during the high economic growth period. It opened in March 2021 inside the management building of the truck terminal. In fact, about 30 years ago, I used to be a truck driver at a transportation company behind this place. You can choose your favorite side dishes and combine them with rice using a tray and chopsticks. You can also order set meals. The ordering system allows for a high degree of freedom. They even deliver bento boxes starting from just one. And they will even do your shopping at Family Mart for you!? What a strong spirit of service...w(゚o゚)w It was my first time visiting, so I simply ordered a set meal. I waited at my seat for the buzzer to ring. The interior is quite spacious, with a relaxed feel between tables. The atmosphere is filled with truck drivers and people from the transportation industry. But everyone is welcome, so even in my suit, I don't feel out of place...Just kidding lol About 10 minutes later, the buzzer went off!! I picked up my food, and then proceeded to help myself to rice and miso soup. With free refills, even a hungry man like me can fill up his stomach. ◆Handmade Jumbo Chicken Cutlet Set Meal 750 yen A large chicken cutlet served with salad and side dishes. I thought about piling up the rice manga-style, but the bowl looked more like a donburi, so I held back...lol Now, let's dig in...oh, the chicken cutlet and salad have nothing on them... ( ̄▽ ̄;) Oh, the dressing and sauce are also self-service. I grabbed a tray and headed back to the self-service corner. I poured plenty of soy sauce and tonkatsu sauce on the chicken cutlet. Oh, wasabi wasn't included? Oh well. Let's eat. The crispy breadcrumbs provide a crunchy texture. The coating may be a bit over-fried, but the meat is cooked just right. The chicken is not too tough or too tender, not too juicy but not too dry either. It's perfect for filling up your stomach. Showing my blogger spirit, I tried to make the white rice look more appealing. I've never been good at white rice since I was a child. Considering the balance with the chicken cutlet, I clearly piled up too much white rice. But following my policy of never leaving food behind, I worked hard and finished it all...lol I was thinking it would be nice to have some pickles...oh, the menu says free pickles...(^▽^;) I'll make sure to look for them next time. Furthermore, looking at the menu again...there's a set meal that includes Jumbo Chicken Cutlet, Jumbo Pork Cutlet, and Large Shrimp Fry...(*゚Q゚*) Well, that's definitely what I'll get next time. With a more moderate amount of white rice...lol Thank you for the meal~(^_-)-☆Blog ⇒ The everyday meals of an old man from Kawachi, and sometimes alcohol.
