KANIYAN
Kitakyushu City, Moji Ward, Nishi Kaigan. A sushi restaurant that opened on June 10, 2021, at the Nissan Shipbuilding Building (a sunny spot). I knew the location, but I forgot to confirm which floor it was on. There was no information on the menu on the first floor. I decided to take a chance and got on the elevator, where I found a sushi magnet on the 4th floor. It would have been nice to have more information. The weekend-only sushi lunch set (8 pieces of sushi, 3 rolls of thin rolls or seafood chirashi, small dish, chawanmushi, tempura, red miso soup) is popular. They also offer various seafood bowls. You can also order sushi a la carte. This time, I ordered the weekend-only lunch set (1880 yen). The sushi included shrimp, spear squid, flatfish, flounder, tuna, and more. The thin rolls were tekka maki. The quality of the fish was good, especially the spear squid was delicious. However, I found the wasabi to be a bit overpowering. The small dish was like eggplant dengaku, cold eggplant which was perfect for the hot season. The tempura included shiso leaf, white fish, shrimp, lotus root, pumpkin, all crispy and delicious. The white fish tempura was particularly tasty. The chawanmushi had a strong egg and dashi flavor, with squid and shrimp adding a nice texture. The red miso soup had fish in it and was rich in flavor without overpowering the sushi and tempura. The quality of the red miso soup was quite high. Overall, I think the taste, price, and speed of service (relaxed) are good, but the order of service and customer service could be improved. The order of service is crucial, and having red miso soup after sushi is not ideal. Without that, I believe this place would be well-received in the limited sushi options in the Moji Port area. Thank you for the meal.
