In October 2022, I visited a pork meat sales store with a restaurant in the beautiful hill area of Kiyota-ku, Sapporo City. The store had relocated a few years ago to a new building in the same area, closer to Sapporo. The new store is spacious and impressive compared to the previous cramped location. I tried their signature dish, the "Order Cut Set Meal," where you can choose your favorite cut of pork and the amount you want. I opted for a 100g rib roast steak seasoned with salt and pepper. The meal cost 960 yen for the meat, plus an additional 550 yen for rice, miso soup, salad, and cooking costs. The steak was delicious, highlighting the flavorful pork with a simple seasoning. The meat was slightly dry due to the lack of marbling, but still enjoyable. You can order different cuts in 50g increments, allowing for a fun comparison. I was intrigued by the variety of cuts available, such as shoulder and leg meat. The only downside was the counter seating where the lighting created distracting shadows. I look forward to revisiting and trying other cuts in the future.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. This year, I have been to Kitahiroshima many times for Escon and the outlet, but I have had trouble finding a delicious restaurant. Despite my curiosity, I had never been to this restaurant. On this day, I went to Escon to watch the Fighters game. I arrived earlier than the opening time, so I peeked into the adjacent drugstore... which was a mistake. This restaurant opens at 11 am, but there were reservations before that. The shop opens at 10 am, so I guess they start taking reservations after that. When I arrived at 11 am, people were already lining up, but I received a waiting card for cars and was able to enter as the 8th person after a 20-minute wait. I thought, "This might not be so bad?" When I placed my order, they showed me the cut meat. It was wonderful. It was my first time, so I tried the fillet tonkatsu, and it was tender and delicious. I also tried my friend's steak, and it was also tasty. If I had to say something more, I would have liked a bit more salad and shredded cabbage. It's a restaurant I would like to visit again.

I visited the restaurant around 1 pm on Friday, and it was full. After waiting for about 15 minutes, my friend and I finally got seats at the counter. The menu had many delicious options, but we decided to order the Cut Steak Set with 300g of rib roast as tonkatsu, and 300g of fillet as tonkatsu. The staff warned us that 300g portions were quite big, but we went ahead with the order. However, it was a bit challenging that we could only choose one type of sauce for the tonkatsu, which was either salt, sauce, or ponzu. It would be nice if they could provide more sauce options for free. Also, the soy butter sauce for the tonkatsu was really delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I came to Sapporo and decided to have dinner with my friends on our way back, as it was just evening. There were various options to choose from, but we decided to go to this restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is divided into a counter, table seats, and a large table where many people can sit. Although there were three of us, we were assigned to the large table seat. As it is a pork specialty restaurant, the menu offers many delicious pork dishes. In particular, the Order Cut Set Meal allows you to choose the meat part and between tonkatsu or tonteki, which makes the menu more exciting. However, feeling like I had eaten too much since coming to Hokkaido, I chose the Roast Pork Cutlet with Tartar Sauce set meal. When the dish arrived, the freshly fried tonkatsu with homemade tartar sauce looked very delicious. When I tried it, it was as delicious as I expected. The salad was also delicious. I wanted to have a second helping of rice, but I resisted and managed to finish with just one serving. Next time, I will indulge in eating more. Thank you for the meal.

I came to the restaurant "Hikoma Buta," where you can choose your favorite cuts of meat and between steak or tonkatsu. Despite it being Sunday afternoon after 2:00 PM, the place was still crowded. I wasn't in the mood for tonkatsu, so I ordered the rib roast 150g and pork belly 150g steak. It was my first time trying Hikoma Buta, and I was impressed by the lack of any unpleasant smell and the sweetness of the pork that stood out. The price per meal is a bit on the higher side, but it's worth it. I would like to try their ginger pork next time.

This is my first visit. I've been wanting to come here but couldn't make it due to the crowds, so I came on a weekday afternoon. The interior of the restaurant is clean and spacious. The counter seats have ample space for one person, and the chairs are comfortable. The panda illustrations on the walls are lovely. The staff are friendly. I ordered the Ribeye 200g + Shoulder 200g + Loin 100g steak set meal (1,730 yen), which comes with rice, miso soup, and salad. I also ordered the Caesar salad with plenty of cheese, ham, and soft-boiled egg (750 yen). Vegetables are important. The kitchen staff showed the ordered meat before cooking, confirming the types and grams. The Caesar salad is delicious. The vegetables are fresh, and the ham is excellent. I want to buy it and take it home! The steak was served on a hot iron plate. The shoulder meat was chewy and meaty. I think I like the ribeye the most. All the meats had delicious fat. The steak sauce is a bit sweet, but it goes well with the pork. The salad was pork shabu-shabu salad. I ate too much, but it was delicious. I will try to restrain myself for a while. Of course, I want to visit this restaurant again.

When the store opened, I was given a bell for the waiting list and waited in my car for about 20 minutes. Once inside, I looked at the menu and decided on the Roast Tartare Nanban Set with extra rice. It was quite a generous portion, but the tenderness of the meat and the taste of the tartar sauce prompted me to finish it in no time. The planned cafeteria was closed on Sundays! Luckily, I noticed this before heading out, so I decided to go to "Hikoma Buta Shokudo" instead. I had visited before in the evening and had to give up due to a 1-hour wait, so I rushed to the restaurant before opening time. I arrived 10 minutes early and informed the staff that I wanted to dine in, and I was given buzzer number 3. It's amazing how much of an impact media coverage can have - I had heard good reviews before, but to be third in line just 10 minutes early was unexpected. Even on the day I had to wait an hour, it was only a few days after it had been featured on TV. But being third in line means I can dine in without waiting, so I don't mind at all! I ordered: - Order Cut Set Meal (¥605) - Pork Shoulder 100g (¥198) - Pork Loin 100g (¥198) - Cooking method: Tonkatsu - Sauce seasoning Total amount: rounded to the nearest 10 yen, making it 1000 yen The most popular order among the customers around me was also the Order Cut Set Meal. There were more steak orders than tonkatsu, with some people ordering the same type in 200-300g or a Rib Roast in 300g. The sight of the meat sizzling on the hot plate was mesmerizing! During my visit, I also saw menu items like "Ginger Pork Set Meal," "Steak Don," and "Demiglace Hamburger." After 15 minutes of ordering, the set meal was brought to me. It looked quite luxurious with two types of tonkatsu side by side - the Pork Shoulder at the back and the Pork Loin at the front. Both cuts I chose were the cheapest options. While I couldn't discern a clear difference between the Pork Shoulder and Pork Loin, both had a light and slightly tender texture with minimal fat. The Pork Shoulder was slightly softer, though! The meat was so tender that the more you chewed, the more you could savor the deliciousness of the meat itself. The crispy texture of the breading was also excellent, with no peeling and allowing you to enjoy two different textures at once. I tried various seasonings like sauce, mustard, salt, and shichimi pepper on the table, but I found that salt paired the best. The salt enhanced the flavor of the meat without overpowering it, allowing you to fully enjoy the meat's deliciousness. The amount of shredded cabbage was less compared to specialty shops, but considering the accompanying salad, it was a satisfying portion! I particularly enjoyed the pork shabu salad instead of the usual tuna salad. It's these little touches that show the dedication and care put into the food. Choosing the cheapest cuts, the tonkatsu set meal for 1000 yen was a great deal, especially with free rice refills. The cost performance was better than regular diner set meals, and the delicious tonkatsu lived up to expectations. I'm curious to try the steak next time! Thank you for the meal.

On the way back from New Chitose Airport, I decided to take the back roads and leisurely drive back to Sapporo. It was around noon when I stumbled upon the "Hikoma Pork" restaurant. I remembered having a delicious pork bowl there a while back in Akai River, Morimachi. I parked my car and went inside. It was still early, around 11:30, so there were plenty of seats available. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Hikoma Pork Bowl with Soft-Boiled Egg" for 990 yen. It took about 20 minutes for my order to be ready, probably because there were other customers ahead of me. When the dish arrived, it looked similar to the one I had in Morimachi, although the bowl was different. The meat seemed a bit thin, but it was still delicious. The rice was also tasty, and overall, it was a well-balanced pork bowl. I had already eaten taiyaki in Chitose, so I opted for the regular size, but I wish I had gone for the large size since I was still a bit hungry. I always want to try more delicious food!

I visited Hikoma Buta for the first time. It was a restaurant I wanted to try. I ordered the Order Cut Set with a 300g fillet tonkatsu. The Order Cut Set came with free rice refills! I also ordered the tartare sauce with the loin. Both dishes were very delicious! The Order Cut Set allows you to choose from various cuts and grams, either steak or katsu, which I thought was great!

It was crowded probably because I visited on the 29th. For dining in, you need to order at the counter, get a buzzer, and wait to be seated. I was able to get in about 10 minutes after opening. I ordered the pork cutlet set meal. The meat they showed me before cutting looked small, but I was surprised by the portion when it was served. I didn't see any mustard, so I used the sweet sauce provided. First, the pork loin. It's not very fatty, but it has a nice meaty flavor. Some reviews mentioned it was tough, but I didn't find it to be that tough. It was tender, probably because it was freshly fried. The rib loin was softer than the pork loin. It had some fat and was juicy. The "hikoma pork" had a sweet and delicious fat, and it wasn't too heavy. I love it. It's delicious when eaten at home, but the cutlets that are not usually made at home taste exceptional when eaten at the store. Looking around, I noticed some people ordering larger portions than mine, and I wondered how many grams they were. Even with 250g, it was quite heavy, and I ended up leaving some rice, miso soup, and salad. I worry if everyone can finish their meals. The ginger pork set that the person next to me was eating looked thick and delicious too. Next time, I'll consider the grams before ordering. It was a shame that there was no mustard.

A restaurant in Morimachi that offers Hikoma pork. In the "Order Cut Set Meal," you can choose meat in 100g increments by part, and have it cooked as either steak or tonkatsu. I ordered 100g each of fillet, belly, and shoulder, all as tonkatsu. A total of 300g, quite a powerhouse for someone in their late twenties (lol). It was great to be able to compare the taste of each part. I had a slight hesitation about eating the shoulder as tonkatsu, but it had a good texture and the meat flavor was actually the best. The belly tonkatsu, which I also had some reservations about, had the expected punch, but the fat was well-contained, making its goodness more evident. I also tried my friend's steak, but personally, I recommend the tonkatsu.

I arrived 5 minutes before the opening because it was always crowded whenever I went. I was the first in line that day. I ordered a 200-gram fillet tonkatsu. My companion had the mille-feuille katsu curry. For the tonkatsu, you could choose between sauce or grated ponzu... but I wanted both! Since it was my first time, I chose the sauce. The tonkatsu, while the description of it "melting" might be wrong, disappeared from my mouth faster than other tonkatsu. So, I savored it as I chewed. The mille-feuille katsu was of course sweet and crispy, with meat juice oozing out as I chewed. It was the best mille-feuille katsu I've ever had. The curry was sweet but had a rich umami flavor. It was delicious on its own. On the way back, I bought some fried items for takeout at the store. They exceeded my expectations in taste! Especially the one wrapped in onion was amazing, the combination with the onion was superb! It's worth buying just the side dishes!

After playing golf, I visited Hikoma Buta Shokudo that I saw on TV. It was my first time there, so I ordered the cutlet set meal. I ordered 150g of pork loin and 150g of pork fillet. It took 40 minutes for the meal to be served, which was quite long. When the set meal arrived, it was a lot of food, but the side vegetables were nice. The meat was tender and delicious because it was fried after ordering. The members ordered 300g of pork fillet and ended up with full stomachs. I'll come back when it's less crowded next time!

Originally a business lunch spot in the frequented area of Kiyota Ward. I had a good impression of the menchi katsu from this restaurant when I experienced selling next to it at the Daimaru Sapporo store's food market a few years ago. Pork is rich in vitamin B1, which is known for its fatigue recovery properties, especially when combined with allicin (found in onions and chives) to increase absorption. I find pork to be more effective for fatigue recovery than eel. [Order Cut Set Meal] 300g of loin, salt and pepper, total of 1,522 yen. The Hikoma pork had a natural firmness that I liked, with a delicate umami from the lean meat and a refined sweetness from the fat without any unpleasant odors. The grilling was done well, and the salt and pepper seasoning was exquisite, but the simplicity made it a bit monotonous towards the end. For a big volume meal like this, it might be more satisfying to pair it with sauce or opt for tonkatsu instead. They showed the meat before cooking and performed entertainingly, leaving a positive impression.

The restaurant was full with a 7-group waitlist around 6:15 pm on weekends, and they stopped taking orders at 6:30 pm. After waiting for about an hour, I was called back in. The meat was shown before cooking, and the dishes were served about 30 minutes after ordering. Both cuts of meat had distinct flavors and the richness of the meat and fat was evident. I felt that the menu was confident in its choice of ingredients. I ordered the Cut Steak Plate with 100g of ribeye and 100g of sirloin for 1030 yen (tax included, rounded down).

I visited a restaurant where I used to get takeout meals before, this time for dinner. It is located along Sheep Hill Avenue with a spacious and convenient shared parking lot. I arrived around 7 pm and found the restaurant full with a waiting list of 2 groups. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we were able to enter. The minced cutlet and pork fillet were sold out. I ended up choosing the limited-time roast tartar Nanban set meal and the customizable order cutlet set meal, which seemed to be a signature dish. My younger daughter ordered the order cutlet set meal, my spouse ordered the limited-time pork loin with miso-stir-fried eggplant. The time from ordering to serving was a bit long, but the dishes were served starting from my younger daughter. Let's dig in! Starting with the Caesar salad, it was delicious. The miso soup was average but tasty. Now, the tartar Nanban. The meat was tender, and the rice was cooked perfectly, using Satsukoshi's "Fukkurinko" rice. It was a good combination. I traded a bit of my daughter's pork steak, and it was so delicious, I might prefer this one. The rice went well with it. Trying my spouse's pork loin with miso-stir-fried eggplant, it was flavorful, and it definitely needed rice to balance it out. It was delicious. However, considering the waiting time, I am not sure if it is worth an immediate revisit. Next time, I might try the order cutlet set meal.
