This time, we enjoyed the main dishes lined up on the counter. - Simmered Kasube This might be the best simmered dish I've ever had. The flavor is just right, not too strong or too weak. It complements the mild taste of the kasube perfectly. The kasube itself is firm yet tender, and the bones provide a nice crunch. I couldn't help but finish all the broth at the end. - Fried Menme The coating is crispy. Even though this fish is fatty, it somehow feels light. Drizzling Worcestershire sauce on it enhances the umami flavor. - Raw Hoya Hoya shellfish is said to be the most delicious from July to August. Its unique taste (some may call it smelly) is irresistible. This pairs perfectly with sake. Overall, I tried the pre-made large dishes for the first time, and they were all very delicious! I realized once again that this restaurant has quality that is more than enough to entertain guests from the mainland.

The hotel in Kushiro was quite close by, and we had planned to go eat the local specialty Zangi, but the atmosphere of this restaurant looked so nice from the outside that we decided to change our plans! We didn't make a reservation, but since it was a weekday night, we were able to get in easily. Kushiro is a place where even at night, you can hear the cries of sea eagles flying in the sky - it was quite nice. I only had beer and lemon sour, but I got pretty drunk (laughs). Maybe the lemon sour was strong? (laughs) Everything we had at this restaurant was delicious, and I thought I would like to come back again! The sashimi was fresh and excellent, and the oysters were big and juicy! For the turban shells, I highly recommend drinking up the juice left inside the shell because it's so delicious!! On the way back, we got some chicken Zangi to go, bought some alcohol at the Seicomart, and ate it in the hotel. That was also delicious. I really liked Kushiro on this trip, so my husband and I are already talking about going on another trip to the eastern Hokkaido area! Thank you for the meal ♪ Note... In addition to this, we also had smelt, grilled rice balls, and more, but I forgot to take pictures (sweat) ← probably because I was drunk.

It was unexpectedly warm night. In the past, you needed a jacket even in the summer. The shop I was planning to visit was already closed or had very few customers, so I wandered into this bustling place. The appetizer fish was probably herring or something similar. It was soft and lightly seasoned, very delicious. The pickled vegetables were also good. I wonder if the murmurs are from a nearby shop? It was tasty. I ordered a sashimi assortment, and while the scallops were delicious, the rest didn't seem very fresh, which was disappointing. The oden was served uniquely with grated yam in the broth for dipping, which was interesting. Overall, the food was good, but there wasn't a standout dish, probably because the exhaust fan was broken, so they couldn't serve fatty fish. I'd like to try the octopus next time. I should come back in winter! Thank you for the meal.

This is the perfect place for enjoying the atmosphere of a traditional hearth while savoring seasonal dishes like Hana-Sakigani (flower crab) and Yago (octopus). The seafood is incredibly fresh and every dish is delicious. It may be a bit pricier than a regular izakaya, but considering the freshness and taste, it's actually quite cost-effective. Prices for seasonal dishes are not listed, so younger customers may be concerned about the bill.

◎A reliable restaurant where you can enjoy delicious robatayaki at a reasonable price! ○Not only the robatayaki, but everything from sashimi to oden is delicious! Kushiro is known as the birthplace of robatayaki. Among the many robatayaki restaurants, I selected this one based on reviews and decided to try it. In conclusion, it is delicious, reasonably priced, and a great restaurant. In addition to robatayaki, you can also enjoy sashimi, oden, and grilled tsubugai, which is great. ★Mackerel (1300 yen) A surprisingly big size! The fat content is excellent. It's not very salty, so feel free to add soy sauce or salt. It's truly delicious. ★Grilled tsubugai (900 yen) Another Kushiro specialty. Also a big size. I was surprised to see tsubugai this large! The soy sauce-based sauce is fragrant and delicious, and the crunchy meat is tasty! ・Oden (each 250 yen) The clear broth is strong and flavorful. It's delicious. They are all big portions and satisfying to eat. The egg may look like a regular boiled egg, but it's surprisingly flavorful. The ganmodoki is soaked in broth and delicious. The white konjac is also tasty. ★Fresh oysters Creamy and rich in flavor. Truly delicious. ・Assorted sashimi (1200 yen) As you can see from the photo, this amount for 1200 yen is a great deal. The scallops were very sweet! It was delicious sashimi.

In Kushiro, there is a popular restaurant where you can enjoy robatayaki. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant is nostalgic, with a hearth in the center where you can enjoy local ingredients cooked over an open flame. They offer a variety of oden dishes, with a unique twist of adding tororo kombu to the soup. The tororo kombu blends well with the oden ingredients, creating a surprisingly delicious combination.

Four years ago, I visited Banya Hut for the first time at the Kushiro Night and revisited it! From the menu called "The Kushiro," I ordered grilled tsubu, Kitakani mackerel, kasube, today's recommended hachikaku, and a mixed oden. The tsubu was incredibly hot, hotter than it looked (^◇^;), and the hachikaku was so juicy (≧∇≦). Everything was delicious! I guess I won't be coming back to Kushiro anymore, huh? (Tears) The second day of the Hokkaido graduation tour in Kushiro is over! Kushiro was far from Hakodate, haha.

"Kushi-ro Banya Koya" in Kushiro, second stop for drinking. Since I was already there, I decided to visit this robatayaki restaurant. I arrived around 7:30 pm on a weekday. The streets were quiet with hardly anyone around, but the restaurant was full. Luckily, I managed to find a seat as someone was leaving. I sat at the end of the counter with a TV right next to me, a perfect spot for a solo diner. I started with a lemon sour for a toast, fizzy and refreshing. The appetizers of pickled vegetables were delicious. The "Grilled Oysters for 700 yen" were lightly seared and almost rare, with a plump and tender texture. Oysters from the area are truly delicious! The "Salted Mackerel from North Kushiro for 700 yen" was grilled over charcoal, with a crispy skin and juicy, fatty meat. The seasoning was just right, making it a perfect dish to accompany drinks. After the lemon sour, I had two glasses of the local sake "Fukushi" at room temperature. I also had sake at the first stop, so I was already feeling a bit tipsy... Since I have work tomorrow, I decided to head back to the hotel early. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but the service and atmosphere were great. Overall, I was very satisfied with both stops on this drinking tour in Kushiro! Thank you for the delicious meal!

We are now approaching the end of the Hokkaido series. When it comes to Kushiro, it's all about robatayaki! This time, we visited Banyasho, where we enjoyed grilled dishes and beer, creating an atmosphere similar to a wandering izakaya adventure. The ambiance is great with dimly lit tables and a lively atmosphere. The grilled fish is tender and delicious. Thank you, Kushiro, for another wonderful evening! #HokkaidoGourmet #KushiroGourmet #Robatayaki #Banyasho #GrilledFish #Salt-GrilledMackerel #Oden #Beer #IzakayaGourmet

When it comes to Kushiro specialties, it's all about "robata-yaki"! In the past, I lacked the courage to enter such places during my youthful solo travels, so during this trip with my spouse, trying robata-yaki was a major goal. There were so many highly-rated robata-yaki restaurants in Kushiro that it was hard to choose, but we decided to make a reservation at this particular place. We were seated right in front of the robata grill, which was a stroke of luck! The retro atmosphere inside the restaurant really set the stage for the natural charm of robata-yaki that travelers imagine. All the staff, including the women working at the grill, were friendly and welcoming. I had always associated robata-yaki with a messy and greasy image, but this restaurant was clean and well-maintained. It's great to see women working energetically and kindly in Kushiro's restaurants. It seems like there are many more hospitality-focused places like this in Kushiro. The potential of Kushiro is truly amazing!

In March 2022, my partner and I went to celebrate something special. We wanted to eat something delicious, so we decided to go to Bankanoya for the second time. We arrived as soon as they opened and it quickly filled up with customers, almost full within 30 minutes. We had a sashimi platter, fried meimei fish, chicken skewers, pork skewers, and fried wakasagi (smelt). We also ordered additional dishes like pickled vegetables. We drank bottled beer, including Hokkaido fresh draft beer and Fukushi fresh draft beer. Just like last time, everything we ate was delicious and we could enjoy our meal without worry. The fact that all the dishes are handmade and cooked right in front of us is evident in the quality. The prices for the counter dishes are not displayed, but the staff will inform you when asked. If we ever crave something tasty again, we will definitely come back. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

On November 19, I visited Bankyoya for the second time, having been there a month ago. It's a bustling izakaya with a variety of dishes displayed at the counter. I ordered the potato salad and simmered turnips. While the oden and grilled dishes seemed popular, I opted for a light meal as I wasn't very hungry. The potato salad had a rich flavor, and it was delicious with black pepper sprinkled on top. The simmered turnips had a spicy kick and paired well with alcohol. Although the atmosphere was a bit lively for a solo diner, the food was tasty. It would be nice if they stayed open a bit later for a more leisurely experience. Thank you for the meal!

Kushiro City, Hokkaido, Suehiro-cho, Kushiro River, about a 5-minute walk, around 5 pm, entered without a reservation for the first time experience of robatayaki, feeling excited. Cheers with a highball. Ordered hokki clam sashimi without hesitation, as expected of Hokkaido! The famous grilled tsubu was ordered, and the flavor was surprisingly delicious, with a gentle and fragrant taste, not salty at all. The grilled herring was very tender and delicious, a truly impressive taste. The grilled salted mackerel from Hokkaido was also delicious, and it's no wonder the place was quickly full. I was able to encounter a great restaurant after a long time!

Tsubugai, oysters. If you're going to eat in Kushiro, this is probably my favorite. Of course, I haven't tried all the restaurants, but it was so delicious that I think it's the best.※ Reference VideoDrinking at Sanpojin & Kushi Ro Banya in Kushiro | 2021 Hidaka and Eastern Hokkaido Horse Trip #11 [Travel Diary vol.050]https://youtu.be/TLCtB3858bw?t=132■ LocationLocated in the izakaya district of Kushiro. I found it on my way back after visiting "Kadoya" the night before and decided to go the next day. I didn't make any reservations.■ ExteriorOn the first floor of a mixed-use building. Japanese-style.■ Interior AtmosphereThere are 2 tables, 1 large counter-like table, and 10 counter seats. Since it's a robatayaki, it's probably better to think of it as mainly counter seats... but I was at a table (;^_^A). While the outside is relatively sterile, the inside is full of Banya atmosphere. The lighting and interior design are perfect for a travel experience. The atmosphere inside is quiet and feels like an adult space. Well, it depends on the other customers as well.■ Food and MenuThe menu and the menu board on the wall are so attractive that it's difficult to choose. First, we had the complimentary nikujaga (meat and potato stew) and oshinko (pickled vegetables). The flavors of the ingredients like potatoes and onions really come out and it's delicious. I was confident that this place was a hit. Here are some of the items we ordered:・Homemade satsuma-age (350 yen) Incredibly juicy. Better than satsuma-age from Satsuma.・Octopus zangi (900 yen) The juicy shiitake mushrooms stand out. Delicious.・Grilled oysters, 2 pieces (700 yen) Creamy and delicious.・North Kushiro mackerel (700 yen) Surprisingly voluminous. And the richness is good.・Shishamo (800 yen) Hmm... I wanted thicker ones for this price for 3 pieces.・Grilled tsubugai (900 yen) Not too sweet, bringing out the flavor and texture of the shellfish. Absolutely delicious.・Crab rice porridge (800 yen) and Grilled rice ball (300 yen) The rice porridge has a strong dashi flavor and is delicious. The grilled rice ball is grilled on the robatayaki and has an incredibly chewy texture. Of course, I didn't finish all the menu items, but if everything is this delicious, then there probably isn't a bad choice here.・Finishing with crab rice porridge()

In February 2021, amidst the pandemic, the Endo Hiroba drinking district was always empty of people. Since all the shops were vacant, it was easy to try out a place I had never been to before, so I decided to visit Rokubata Banchokoya. I had always seen the silhouette of salarymen drinking and assumed it was a bustling place. I finally mustered up the courage to enter since it looked empty due to the pandemic. Opening at 5:00 PM, I entered the spacious interior of the restaurant, which had a large counter and table seating in the back. The staff consisted of two older women and a younger waitress. I started with a bottle of beer and was served pickles and fish ball soup as appetizers. As I looked through the menu, I noticed various dishes and ingredients displayed on the counter, all looking delicious. I ordered chicken skewers, pork skewers, and octopus fritters. The charcoal-grilled chicken and pork skewers were juicy and tasty, while the octopus fritters were a unique dish with a pleasant shiitake aroma. I also discovered breaded oysters on the counter and had them fried, which were also delicious. The freshly squeezed sake from the north made me feel cheerful. However, the octopus fritters were quite filling, unexpectedly so. I thought it would have been better to have someone to share them with. Despite feeling full, I was satisfied with the meal. The staff were all welcoming and kind, making it a place I would definitely like to visit again.

Traveling in Hokkaido. Night in Kushiro. Of course, I go out for drinks. I walked from the hotel where I was staying to the downtown area. There are many bars lined up, but some were already full due to the start of the long weekend. After being turned away from a few places, I finally managed to get into this restaurant. The restaurant is quite spacious. It has a rustic, folk art style. It feels like a traditional charcoal grill restaurant. There are counter seats and tables in the back. Since the counter seats seemed popular, even though I was alone, I was seated at a table in the back. I started with a draft beer. And for snacks, I ordered grilled sea snails and king crab. We were served two appetizers. Just with these, I could enjoy my drink. The appetizers really captured the heart of a drinker. The grilled sea snails arrived first. The sea snails have a strong aroma of the sea. They are seasoned with soy sauce. The liver part has a good balance of bitterness and umami. The king crab seemed to be simply boiled. I had to pick out the meat from the shell. The simple taste without seasoning was surprisingly delicious. I could really taste the richness of the crab. I switched to sake at this point and enjoyed it. Lastly, I had the butter-grilled scallops. The chewy meat is rich in flavor. The butter flavor is not overpowering, allowing the taste of the scallops to shine through. The restaurant seems to be run by women only. From older ladies to younger ones, they all have a friendly and gentle demeanor, creating a nice atmosphere. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. I would like to come back with a few people and try out various dishes.

I visited this place for dinner. I found it on Tabelog and decided to come. It seems to be a popular restaurant as many seats are filled. This time, I ordered 'Lemon Sour,' 'Tsubu-sashi,' and 'Banya Special Takoyaki.' Before the dishes arrived, two appetizers were served. It's rare to have two appetizers. I love Tsubu-sashi ♫ It's always delicious. I was surprised by the Takoyaki. I thought it would be fried octopus, but it was like Takoyaki... It was delicious, but the appearance was surprising. If I come to Kushiro again, I would like to come here to eat. Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

From Shiretoko Cape to Kushiro, I tried to make reservations for the night but it was Sunday night and many places were closed or full. However, I found a highly rated restaurant on Tabelog and decided to give it a try. Although the counter seats for the robatayaki grill were full, I was seated at a shared table in the back. The restaurant had traditional Ainu clothing and tools on display, which was impressive. I started with a draft beer and ordered dishes recommended by the restaurant, including horsehair crab sashimi, saury sashimi, whale meat sashimi, grilled saury, and crab salad. The standout dish was the fried smelt, which was incredibly delicious. The saury dishes used fresh saury from Nemuro, and although they were a bit pricey, the quality was exceptional. The horsehair crab sashimi had a crunchy texture with the liver included. I also enjoyed the sake selection, starting with a chilled Fukushi sake, then a room temperature Fukushi sake, and finishing with a highball. I ended up spending around 6,000 yen per person, which was reasonable considering the amazing food. Overall, I was impressed by the fantastic dishes. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

This is in Kushiro Suehirocho. It is located across from a ramen and grilled fish restaurant. Here, you can also enjoy the famous grilled fish from Kanadokoro, which may not be well-known. THE Kushiro is a teppanyaki restaurant with many mothers cooking at the grill. There are plenty of side dishes on the table, including appetizers. The beer is delicious, and the grilled fish is consistently tasty. The broth alone is worth drinking with alcohol. They also grill oysters and sweet potato tempura. The sashimi is also delicious. Everything goes well with beer. It's a popular restaurant, so it's recommended to make a reservation before visiting.

- Located in the bustling area of Kushiro, this charcoal-grilled restaurant is known for its smoky interior. - The "Hokukari Salt Mackerel" from Kushiro is highly recommended for its excellent fatty texture. - The whale sashimi was refreshing at first bite, followed by a rich umami flavor that was truly delicious.

A historical cold wave hit the Japanese archipelago in 2019. Night in Kushiro. The temperature drops to nearly -20 degrees. Freezing cold wind. A chilling night. The appetizer is hot fish head soup with pickles. Holding the bowl with cold hands to warm up for a while. It feels good to warm up the body. A delightful appetizer. Kushiro is famous for its grilled smelt. The restaurant is lit by incandescent light. The ambiance reflecting off the grilled smelt is charming. Skewer it, and pull it out. It feels satisfying when the internal organs come out smoothly, but it's tricky. Sweet and savory seasoning. Soup. Sip it with hot sake. Japanese happiness. Grilled oysters. They're almost rare, aren't they? They seem like raw oysters. It feels odd to have grilled oysters that aren't cold, but they were delicious. It's fine because they weren't cold, and they tasted great. Grilled squid chunks and squid roll liver were accidentally ordered, but the squid roll liver was also delicious. The richness of the squid roll and the sweetness and texture of the squid. It would be better to share with others before it melts. After enjoying most of the dishes and having three cups of hot sake, getting pleasantly drunk, it's time for grilled rice balls to finish. Crispy grilled rice balls with a fragrant charred exterior. Firm texture. Strong soy sauce flavor, fragrant and delicious from being charred. Japanese happiness is also found here. Thank you for the meal. The restaurant gets quite crowded, but it seems to quiet down around 10:30 pm. If you want to have a light drink for the finale, you may not have trouble getting a seat.
