I visited this bakery based on reviews on Tabelog. There was a parking lot in front of the shop. Since it was close to evening, there weren't many options left, but I bought some delicious sweet bread and sandwich bread to take home. The sweet bread was tasty, but the sandwich bread was soft and made great toast. I couldn't resist and had a piece in the car on the way home, and it was delicious. I definitely want to come back to this bakery!

Standing quietly along the roadside is a bakery. The inside of the store made me feel happy with the delicious smell of bread. There were so many tempting breads that I wanted to try, and if I went alone, I might end up buying too much and eating too much. I bought Vanilla Melon Pan, Cannele, Pork Belly Wiener, and Sesame Cutlet Sandwich. The Melon Pan had a crispy outer layer and a moist inside. The Pork Belly Wiener was long and had a satisfying chew, with the wiener being juicy. Both the Cannele and Sesame Cutlet Sandwich were also incredibly delicious. I will definitely go back again.

On the second day of my Kyoto trip, after visiting Kiyomizu-dera, I went on a bread journey! The first place I visited was here in Nishikyo-ku. They use domestically produced wheat for their bread, without margarine or shortening. I was drawn to the bagels, but all the bread displayed in the store was so appealing that I wanted to end my tour here even though I planned to visit 4-5 places today. I took lots of photos, so I will explain in detail with pictures.
- Marron Glace Rustic Bread (270 yen): A soft French bread with sprouted grain dough mixed with marron glace and adzuki beans for a gentle sweetness. I responded to the voice saying "freshly baked" and it was delicious.
- Apricot Rustic Bread (270 yen): Another rustic bread, this time with apricot, golden raisins, and roasted pumpkin seeds mixed in. A limited edition autumn French bread with a harder texture than the previous one. The contrast of aroma and color, and the happiness of savoring each bite. Very delicious.
- Bagel (Chocolate) (259 yen): The moist and fluffy dough made with Van Houten cocoa is surprisingly not too sweet. But inside, it's sweet and filled with plenty of chocolate, making it a delightful treat. The size is 10.5cm×9.2cm, 123g. The owner is from Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It feels very familiar. The staff is very friendly. I felt like I wanted to become a regular if this place were nearby. Thank you for the meal.

Located a 10-12 minute walk from Kei Station, Bakery Pura Vida is a bakery that is more convenient to visit by car than by train due to its distance from the station. The bakery offers a variety of colorful breads made with a focus on wheat. The staff energetically announce freshly baked bread, making you want to buy multiple pieces. This time, I purchased the popular croissant. The crispy croissant, baked to perfection, is made with homemade natural yeast and fermented Yotsuba butter, resulting in a subtly sweet and sophisticated flavor. It was delicious on its own, but I can imagine it would be even better when paired with a dish! In addition to croissants, they also offer sandwiches and sweet breads, so be sure to visit. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a lovely bakery nearby after lunch last time. The interior was warm and cozy, with a wide variety of delicious-looking bread. I bought the following items: Awaji onion open sandwich, assorted scones (matcha and white chocolate), croissant chocolat, flat chocolate, and fig raisin Noah. They were all delicious and satisfying. I would like to try their bagels next time. #PuraVida #KyotoBakery #KyotoGourmet #KyotoLunch #Bread #Bakery #BreadLovers #ConnectWithBreadLovers #DomesticWheat #Scones #KansaiGourmet #KansaiBakery #BreadLovers #BakeryHopping #FlukeCertifiedAmbassador #BreadLoversGirl #BakeryHopping

I went for revenge! This time's purchase. Banh mi daikon (pickled in vinegar), carrots, lettuce, a little cilantro. It has a slightly unique taste but the pickled vinegar flavor is strong and refreshing. It might be easy to eat for those who have never tried Banh mi before. I found it slightly sour and lacking in flavor. The bagel was fluffy and chewy, with a walnut flavor, crunchy snap peas, and a great match with the salty ham. I definitely want to come back for this. The canelé was soft, fluffy, crispy, and had just the right amount of sweetness, a taste I really like. I want to come back for this too. The milk bread (¥50) and pain au chocolat were just okay. The bagel and canelé have become my favorites at this shop.

I had a tamago sandwich, curry bread, and yam bread for 950 yen. I visited at around 9:30 am. There is parking space for three cars in front of the store. I visited while on a drive to buy morning bread. There were many delicious-looking breads available. The curry bread was freshly baked, so I couldn't resist buying it. The tamago sandwich was light and the bread was soft and delicious.

Pura Vida Croissant ¥170, Round Bread Egg Sandwich ¥160, Ring France ¥230. The croissant had a crispy first touch and a soft crumb, very delicious. The egg sandwich was tasty but felt a bit cold due to the low temperature of the fridge. It's a Thursday limited menu. The Ring France had a clear taste with fresh bacon, cream cheese, and black pepper. The shop has a "Musashi" oven and the owner kindly came out to greet me. I recommend stopping by if you're nearby. Located at 10-10 Kawashima Gonda-cho, Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.

After eating soba noodles, I drove a little and came here to buy bread. I had bought bread once at a food event at Isetan before, and this time they had a wide variety of hard breads, savory pastries, and sweet pastries. They had croquette sandwiches (270 yen), curry bread (249 yen), red bean paste buns (108 yen), canelés (270 yen), and Awaji onion open sandwiches (178 yen). The dough and fillings were made to complement each other well, and the combinations were cleverly put together. I think making bread must be fun. The delicious bread made me think that. I'll drive here again someday...

Today, I went to the area of Katsura in Kyoto and stopped by a popular bakery along the Mononoke Shukaido road.
■ Pura Vida
The name of the bakery, "Pura Vida," is a direct translation of the Spanish phrase "Pura vida," which means "wonderful life." The shop has a stylish exterior and inside, there were about three groups of customers. The shop was small, with about three groups filling it up at a time. I entered as customers left. On wooden tables, beautiful bread was displayed. In the back of the shop, there was a bakery where freshly baked bread was being lined up. They also had baked goods like canelés, adding variety to their selection. I had a hard time deciding which ones to choose (^-^)
I purchased three types of bread to take home:
- Banh Mi: A Vietnamese sandwich known as a popular fast food. It had plenty of cilantro, pickled carrots, and daikon radish in a French baguette. The unique taste of fish sauce and cilantro stood out. The crunchy texture of the carrots and the meatiness of the pork were enjoyable when bitten into. This sandwich would be popular among women who like Asian food (^-^)
- Bagel: A chewy bagel. I personally really liked the chewiness of this bagel! I also enjoyed the rich flavor of the wheat (^-^)
- Marron: A sweet bread made with hard French bread using wheat ground in a stone mill, filled with chestnut paste. The chestnut paste was quite sweet. It had a somewhat innovative impression. The taste of the chestnut was slightly different from what I expected, and I felt the deep richness of the chestnut.
From basic bread to unique creations, this bakery offered a variety of bread options.

There is a bakery that bakes curry bread instead of frying it, and I heard it was delicious so I went to try it. I arrived around 1 pm, but they were already sold out... Other bread looked delicious too, so I bought a ham and gouda cheese sandwich on French bread and an open sandwich with onions to take home. Delicious! Very delicious!! It's a typical hidden gem in a residential area that's even better than famous bakeries. The flavor spreads in your mouth with each bite, and the balance between the filling and the bread is perfect. You can enjoy the taste of the sandwich from the first bite to the last. I was surprised! I rarely encounter such bread even at famous bakeries. I must go back for the baked curry bread next time as a revenge! However, what caught my attention was the product on the top shelf... I think it's probably butter but... Please put up a sign with a Japanese explanation! I was curious about the product but... the package is in a foreign language that I can't decipher. I can barely manage with English but it's probably not English. Can you provide a translation in Japanese? Also, I understand that it's inevitable for a popular shop to be crowded even on a weekday afternoon, but it was too busy to ask a staff member for a translation... Please provide a Japanese explanation! I deducted one star for this improvement request.

If you head south from Chiyoharaguchi intersection on Monzenmachi Street, you will find a freshly baked bread shop called Pravida on the left side. The shop has a small sales area compared to its large kitchen, and the variety of bread is not very extensive. It seems that there are many types of hard bread, but each bread has its own unique characteristics, such as bread with plenty of cheese, Danish pastries, bagels, etc. I decided to choose some for home use, but for my snack, I bought a curry bread for 230 yen and ate it in the car immediately. Unfortunately, it was not freshly fried, but the crispy texture was not compromised even when cold. The curry filling inside the bread had a noticeable presence of ingredients, including beans. It had a surprisingly spicy flavor, but somehow had a simple taste reminiscent of the curry I had in school lunches. Although it was not freshly fried, the moist feeling of the filling was not there, but I thought it was a well-thought-out curry bread. The next morning, I had a Castagna for 240 yen. It is a bread that wraps custard cream and small cubes of sweet potatoes in a croissant-like dough and lightly coats the surface with white chocolate. The bread dough did not have a very crispy texture, perhaps due to the influence of chocolate, but it turned out to be a delicious sweet bread as expected from the ingredients. However, the presence of sweet potatoes wrapped inside did not have the same impact as the raisins in pain au raisin. Thank you for the meal. By the way, there are about three parking spaces in front of the shop, but due to the heavy traffic on Monzenmachi Street, parking head-on is very challenging. I thought if there was a way to alleviate this stress, but it is probably unlikely. I do not recommend coming by car for those who are not confident in driving.

Panmania's activity day ( ̄▽ ̄) A popular bakery in Kyoto♪ I had some errands nearby, so I decided to stop by on my way back (^o^)/ There were 2 parking spaces in front of the shop. The store itself was smaller than I expected, cozy and intimate. The displayed bread on the counter all looked delicious♡ Besides the classic items like baguettes and sandwich bread, they had a wide variety of bagels and scones, which was impressive. This time, I purchased the following 4 items:
- Bagel (Awaji onion and cheese) ¥220
A chewy bagel with natural yeast, filled with sautéed Awaji onions and topped with fragrant cheese. The sweet onions were plentiful and very tasty!
- Fig Raisin Noah ¥440
A French bread made with stone-milled flour, filled with walnuts, figs, and raisins. It's packed with ingredients, which is great♡
- Square Loaf 1kg ¥300
A sandwich bread made with Hokkaido butter using the tangzhong method, giving it a chewy texture. Very chewy, with a lot of bite!
- Whimsical Scone (Matcha and white chocolate) ¥265
A vibrant scone made with plenty of Uji matcha. The sweetness of Italian white chocolate and the slight bitterness of matcha are exquisite. All the bread was of high quality and I was very satisfied!! If this bakery was nearby, I would want to try all the different kinds of bread they offer ( ̄▽ ̄) Thank you for the meal★

I heard there is a delicious bakery in Katsura, so I visited. Located along the road from Muko to Arashiyama. Inside the shop, there were various types of bread lined up. The popular curry bread contains Keema curry. I also recommend the cheese bread, canelé, and cream bread with plenty of homemade custard cream. They were all very delicious.

In the early afternoon, I went looking for baguettes and ciabatta, but it seemed that they were sold out. They apologized for the limited selection. Next time, I might try asking for a reservation before coming. I bought a Fig Raisin Noa for 440 yen. It's a French bread dough with lots of walnuts, chunks of figs, and raisins mixed in. The dough is chewy, the walnuts are crunchy, and the sweetness of the figs and raisins make it very satisfying. It's naturally sweet and flavorful! When lightly toasted, the walnuts and outer crust become crispy and delicious.

Friday, on a holiday, on the way back from Pura Vita, Mr. Kawagawa and his daughter arrived at the restaurant. There were already two groups of customers inside, so they went to the back of the line with their tray. They were excited to see the long Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) and decided to get two of them along with other items like curry buns, Blue Largo, a long sausage, and vanilla melon bread. The Banh Mi was delicious with fresh coriander and crunchy carrots, and the French bread had a nice texture. The Blue Largo had a salty flavor that made them crave alcohol, and the nuts added a nice crunch. Everything was so tasty that they couldn't stop eating. The items they brought home were perfect for breakfast the next day on a drive. This bakery is popular among locals for a reason, and they will definitely visit again when they are in the area. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The strawberry menu is wonderful, and the new menu is also simple and amazing. For example, the new sandwich with ham and cheese. It's a menu that hasn't been seen before. The bread here is like the rice in sushi, with ingredients mixed in freely. The fluffy texture when you eat it, it's hard to explain how amazing it is (laughs). This bakery is really great. If you have the chance, definitely try out a variety of breads! ^^v

I have been to this bakery many times, but they always run out of curry bread by evening. Finally, I made a phone reservation. The curry bread won the Gold Award in the Western Japan Baked Curry Bread Division of the Curry Bread Grand Prix 2018! The dough is firm and the oil is decently drained. The filling is flavorful with well-defined ingredients. When you take a bite, you can feel the harmony between the dough and the filling, making it a high-quality curry bread. The croissant has a crispy surface and a good balance of airiness and buttery taste. The service provided by the wife is very friendly, unlike most bakeries where the service is more reserved. They always let me sample new and recommended bread, which is also something I look forward to.

During my visit to Kyoto, I decided to extend my trip to Katsura and check out this bakery located along the main street. It seemed quite popular among the locals. Despite the rainy weather that day, the inside of the shop was bustling with customers. The staff members were very friendly and efficient, which left a strong impression on me. Here are the items I purchased that day: 1. Baguette "Haponesu" for 240 yen - made with stone-ground flour, the crust was perfectly crispy. 2. Chestnut Rustic Bread for 390 yen - a French bread dough with black honey, filled with candied chestnuts. The chestnuts were evenly distributed and not too sweet, making it delicious. 3. Croissant - made with homemade natural yeast and wheat flour. It had a nice rise and a fine texture. Overall, all the items had high quality. The bakery scene in Kyoto seems to be quite competitive.
