I am a huge fan of tempura rice bowls, and my standard used to be the tempura rice bowl from Ginza Tenichi. I had given up hope of finding it anywhere else besides the Isetan Kyoto, but when I found out there was one store in Osaka, I felt nostalgic and excited, so I made a reservation. The restaurant is located in the HEP FIVE building on the 5th floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows that create a bright and open atmosphere. The spacious and elegant counter exudes a sense of luxury. Established in 1930, Ginza Tenichi has been loved by politicians, business people, and cultural figures for a long time, and continues to preserve the history of traditional Edo-style tempura at prestigious hotels like the Imperial Hotel and The Peninsula Hotel. However, today I was not there for the tempura course, but for the "Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl". While most people around me were ordering the tempura course, I proudly ordered the rice bowl. I remember becoming a fan when I ate it at the Ginza main store, and I saved money to frequently visit for the tempura rice bowl. The moment of opening the lid of the bowl is my favorite part. The soft steam carries a refreshing yuzu fragrance, and the shrimp tempura, which has swelled up nicely in the sweet and savory sauce, is placed on top of the rice. I mindlessly bring the rice with the sauce to my mouth. The sweetness of the sauce seemed a bit milder, but the grated daikon radish tempura dipping sauce was a completely different experience. Green asparagus is always included in Tenichi's tempura rice bowls, just like in the old days. The choice of vegetables, such as thick lotus roots, prevents them from becoming watery and helps maintain a stable and consistent flavor. I like to ask the chef for extra sauce and savor each bite. The pickles paired well with the meal, and I enjoyed every single clam in the rich red miso soup. The soft "Manyo no Hana" wagashi from Kanazawa, served with green tea, was a nice touch. Reflecting on the taste of traditional well-established restaurants like this from time to time can broaden one's culinary horizons and add sophistication to dining experiences. The service was very polite, and I was lucky to receive a fan and a coupon for HEP FIVE. By the way, the monthly booklet "Ginza Hyakuten" displayed at the entrance showcases the charm of Ginza's well-established shops, and I was moved to see it had reached issue No. 823. I left feeling grateful and told the chef, "I'll be back. Please give me extra sauce again." It would make me happy if he remembers me as the tempura rice bowl person. Thank you for the delicious meal.

"Ginza Tenichi Osaka Store" I thought about going to the Chinese restaurant on the same floor, but it was fully booked, so I ended up at this nice looking tempura restaurant. Tempura set meal (¥3,520) ✔️ 7 pieces of tempura ✔️ Salad ✔️ Rice ✔️ Miso soup ✔️ Pickles ✔️ Japanese sweets The tempura cooked right in front of you was incredibly delicious. The sweet potato was sweet and fluffy, absolutely irresistible. It turned into an unexpectedly luxurious lunch. The main seating is at the counter, with only 2 table seats, so the number of seats is limited! It seems like you can make a reservation, so it might be safer to do so. In fact, all the restaurants on this floor are incredibly delicious."

I went to Harbis ENT for the first time in a while to eat shrimp tempura rice bowl. It was nice to see familiar faces at the restaurant - the oyster bar and prime rib are still there. The place wasn't too crowded, so I quickly found a seat. The tempura was deep-fried to a dark, crispy perfection with shrimp, asparagus, kakiage, and lotus root. It was hot and delicious.

Ginza Tenichi (Osaka, Kita-ku, Herbis ENT) Looking for a place to have lunch near Hankyu Osaka Umeda Station, I decided to visit Herbis ENT after a long time. As I checked out the lineup of restaurants, I realized that many places had changed since the opening, and I hadn't noticed some of the changes. I planned to go to a mozzarella cheese restaurant, but it was fully booked. Feeling a bit lost, I ended up at "Ginza Tenichi" nearby. The lunch menu starts from 3,520 yen. Originally, there was a tempura restaurant called "Agesan Sui" in this location with a great view of Osaka Station. The open atmosphere is still there. There are table seats and counter seats, and the counter seats where the tempura is fried are recommended, so I followed the recommendation. The options for 3,520 yen are "Tempura Set Meal," "Small Tempura Rice Bowl and Tempura," and "Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl." I chose the Tempura Set Meal. When I placed my order, the tempura chef started preparing the meal right in front of me. First, a salad and side dish were served, followed by rice, pickles, clam miso soup, and the first tempura, shrimp. As someone who writes blogs with photos, I think you'll understand that it's quite challenging to take photos when each dish is served one by one. It's difficult to capture the image of a shrimp tempura neatly placed on a plate. To compensate for this, I took a single photo of all the tempura together. However, I eat quickly, so I finish one dish before the next one arrives. It's impossible to capture a situation like a "tempura assortment" in a photo here. After the shrimp, I enjoyed the conger eel, onion, sweet potato, and mixed tempura. The conger eel went well with plum, salt, and tempura dipping sauce, the onion was sweet and crispy, the sweet potato was deliciously sweet, and the mixed tempura was full of shrimp. The tempura batter was crispy throughout. Finally, a shihomi manju and tea were served to finish the meal. The customer next to me was enjoying tempura-fried sweetfish that had been swimming vigorously until just now. We made a reservation and visited the restaurant with two people. It is located on the 5th floor of Harborside Ent. We were seated at the counter and toasted with a glass of draft beer. Some appetizers were served, including finely chopped shiitake mushroom stems, which turned out to be surprisingly delicious. We then ordered white wine, highball, and other drinks. The first course included tuna sashimi, salmon roe, rolled omelette, and marinated firefly squid. This was followed by a tempura course featuring shrimp, scallops, asparagus, oysters, and conger eel. Among these, the scallops and shiitake mushrooms stood out as particularly delicious. For the main dish, I had tempura rice bowl, while my companion had tempura. The shrimp tempura was especially tasty. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full.

After going to Isetan at Kyoto Station, I visited Tenichi for the first time in 3 years. I think it is one of the best tempura restaurants for solo diners in Osaka without a reservation, alongside Endo at Daimaru Shinsaibashi (including the location). The additional tempura cost 4,000 yen for 5 pieces on the receipt excluding tax, which is quite reasonable. The only disappointing thing was that the straws were made of paper. I had 2 cups of oolong tea, the lunch omakase course, cherry blossom salad, and 11 pieces of tempura including shrimp legs, saijyo maki shrimp, fuki no tou, raw snow cod with shirako, scallop mantle, bamboo shoots, snow pea sprouts, snack peas, conger eel, and a Japanese sweet (salt bun). I also added tempura of ark shell, bigfin reef squid wrapped in shiso leaf, sea urchin, clam, and bamboo shoot (from Kumamoto Prefecture).

I made a reservation for a course at this restaurant. It was my first time dining in a hotel restaurant, so I was quite nervous. However, the service was friendly and easy to talk to, and the food was delicious, including the recommended dishes apart from the course. I would love to visit again when staying in Osaka.

I visited for lunch after a long time. The food was delicious, but even though I ordered a course, the staff kept looking at me and asking if I wanted to add anything or if I wanted another drink, which was a bit annoying.

There was a counter and tables, and I ate at the counter. They fry the food right in front of you so you can eat it fresh. They only had set meals for lunch, but it was very delicious!
