I went around 8:30 in the morning, but many items in the showcase were already sold out. Luckily, I was able to get a mandarin orange daifuku, walnut daifuku, red bean daifuku, and bean daifuku. The mandarin orange daifuku was juicy and the mandarin was sweet and soft, very delicious. The bean daifuku had a nice texture with chunks of beans, and the dough was firm and tasty. Overall, the sweetness was moderate. It had a refreshing sweetness that made it easy to eat as much as I wanted.

A store with long lines since early morning. I had someone buy for me, and they said there was already a line of about 10 people by 6:10, even though the store opened at 6. This time, I bought mikan daifuku and strawberry mochi. After buying them, I waited a bit before eating. The mochi was soft and chewy! It would have been even softer if I had eaten it right away. The mikan daifuku had orange mochi with anko (sweet red bean paste? mikan paste?) and mikan inside, which was delicious! The strawberry mochi had strawberry mixed into the mochi with smooth anko. This was also delicious.

I bought four items - chocolate banana daifuku, orange daifuku, sweet bean paste daifuku, and sweet red bean paste, all for 710 yen. I went on a Sunday after 8 o'clock and didn't have to wait in line. I was able to park easily and found everything I wanted. The sweet red bean paste daifuku were all pink. The orange daifuku was the most delicious.

A friend lined up early in the morning to buy this for me. When I took a bite of the strawberry daifuku, I couldn't help but exclaim, "So much strawberry!" Inside the daifuku mochi with a strawberry flavor, there is a large strawberry wrapped in sweet red bean paste with a subtle sweetness. It was really delicious.

Visited on April 17, 2023! Strawberry daifuku, bean daifuku, etc... Total: 1,720 yen. About 15 years ago, when there was a store on North 18th Street, I remember escaping to buy strawberry daifuku during the time I was hospitalized near the Hemorrhoid Hospital in the Sheep Hill Observatory after waking up until breakfast. It was around noon, so there were hardly any in the showcase, and there was only this assortment, but unlike a certain mochi shop, they didn't use joshinko to keep it soft, so it had the original hardness of mochigome, making it feel like you're really eating daifuku.

I visited around 9:30 on a regular day. This is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1940. There was already a line before opening, and some items were sold out by the time I arrived. There is a parking lot next to the shop where cars can park in a row. I bought the following items for a total of 9 pieces as souvenirs:
- White Daifuku $1.20
- Red Daifuku $1.20
- Bean Daifuku $1.20
- Strawberry Daifuku $2.50
Among them, the Strawberry Daifuku was exceptional. The strawberries were sweet and juicy, blended into the mochi, creating a perfect balance of flavors. It was a delight for strawberry lovers. The other daifuku were also delicious, as everyone who received them enjoyed them. A reliable choice indeed. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the new location of Kadomaru Mochi shop for the first time after it moved. I used to line up before 6 am for their strawberry daifuku, but this time I just wanted to try their bean mochi, so I went around 9 am. However, they close once they run out of mochi, so I had to go early in the morning. There wasn't a long line, but customers kept coming in without a break. The shop has a new look, but the feeling of the showcase inside remains the same. Also, despite the rising prices, it seems like the prices here haven't changed much. By the way, they were still selling strawberry daifuku on that day. The mochi was firm. It might be softer when freshly made, but mochi tends to harden quickly. It seems like they stick to the traditional way of making it. It's best to warm it up before eating to make it softer and bring out the sweetness. The saltiness of the big black beans is subtle, allowing the flavor of the mochi to shine through. It seems like they haven't changed since the old days.

I woke up early and decided to visit a mochi shop that I had seen on TV a long time ago. I used my navigation system but ended up at the wrong store, so I had to search again to find the right one. When I arrived, there was a line outside with about 6 people ahead of me. I decided to wait in line. I checked on Tabelog and found out that their specialty is strawberry daifuku. However, my wife doesn't like strawberries, so I hesitated a bit. Inside, there were many options, but I decided to go with a set that included strawberry daifuku. It was a set of 10 for around 1500 yen. The mochi had a thin and soft skin, and the strawberries were delicious. The bean daifuku also had a strong bean flavor and was tasty. The seasoning really brought out the flavors of the fillings. My wife even said it was the best strawberry daifuku she had ever had. It would make a great souvenir as well. It was a delicious meal.

We visited "Kadomaru Mochiten" to buy souvenirs for a small celebration for a golden wedding anniversary. We arrived at 5:35 PM and found about 60 customers ahead of us, but by the time we finished our shopping, there were only about 50 people left in line. Many couples and families were waiting in line. We ordered at around 6:40 PM and the lone staff efficiently took our order, packed the items, and processed the payment. Our order included: - Red rice with sweet beans x2 for 390 yen each - Red rice with red beans x2 for 390 yen each - Strawberry daifuku x8 for 250 yen each - Bean daifuku x4 for 120 yen each - Sesame daifuku x4 for 120 yen each - Sakura mochi x2 for 120 yen each - Dango x6 for 100 yen each The strawberry daifuku had the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, and all the items including the red rice, daifuku, and dango were delicious. It was still a bit cold outside, but our in-laws were delighted with the treats, so waiting in line was worth it. We enjoyed the food and will definitely come back again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited "Kado Maru Mochiten" on March 26th for the first time this year. I had visited on December 4th last year. My wife and I drove there at 5:45 pm to get a limited-time item. The parking lot was already full at that time, with about 50 customers waiting in line. It took us about an hour to enter and make our purchase. Since I couldn't park, I asked my wife to wait in line while I went to three different Seven-Eleven stores to look for items from the Curry Fest, and even got my car washed (laughs). I checked the progress of the line every 15 minutes, and even when customers entered or made their purchase, there were still about 40 people waiting in line. The line was already long even during the snowy winter. Today's purchases included: Strawberry Daifuku for 250 yen each. The limit was 10 per person. The strawberries were quite sweet this time. The sweetness stood out even with the red bean paste inside. Maybe they adjusted the amount of sugar in the paste? My wife bought the maximum of 10. - Chocolate Daifuku for 250 yen each. This was a limited-time item and my first time trying it. It reminded me of Lotte's "Yukimi Daifuku" ice cream, although the ingredients are completely different. It was delicious, as expected from a limited-time item. It will be available until April 2nd. - Sakura Mochi for 120 yen each. This is a regular item and relatively easy to get. I personally like it. Since it's a mochi shop, it's best to eat it soon. I also bought some other items like Mame Daifuku and Mame Banmochi. Thank you for the delicious food. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In the morning, on the way to Kilolo, I stopped by Kadomaru-san to pick up some snacks. This season, they have strawberry daifuku, so delicious! Even though it's only in the 6 o'clock hour, there's still a line. But since today is the only chance, I'll wait in line. After about 20 minutes, I got strawberry daifuku, mame daifuku, and kurumi daifuku. Let's have them as a snack on the snowy mountain. The combination of light anko and the sourness of strawberries is exquisite! Delicious! The mame daifuku also has a great texture. Thank you for the meal.

This was my first visit. I finally managed to make a purchase! Every time I went before, the store was closed and sold out, but this time when I passed by, I saw that it was open. I went in on a whim! I was originally hoping to try the limited-time chocolate daifuku from last month, but what I ended up buying this time was two white chocolate daifuku from Uguisumochi, which is also a limited-time item (the sign said chocolate daifuku though). It was delicious, but I have to say, the Mitarashi dango was super delicious! It seems like you have to go in the morning to get the strawberry daifuku though~

I had been curious about the shop known for its strawberry daifuku for a while. However, I wasn't willing to line up from 5 am in this cold weather, especially since there were already 30 to 40 people lined up before the 6 am opening, and they would sell out in a few hours. So, I had given up on it. This time, I was actually there for the Osaka Sabal Ramen shop, which was making its debut in Hokkaido. But I couldn't help but wonder about the super famous shop next door. I nervously entered and found that although the showcase was quite empty, they still had the strawberry daifuku I was looking for packed in a set with a chocolate daifuku. It was around 11:30 am, and I was lucky to find some left. I asked the staff why they weren't sold out yet, and they said it was unusual, but due to the bad weather (blizzard). I tried the strawberry daifuku, which was juicy and delicious. However, it was a bit small, and at 250 yen, it seemed expensive with poor value for money. The chocolate daifuku was also tasty, although it was white chocolate instead of what I expected. I also got some mitarashi and anko dango on a stick, which were delicious but a bit too firm for my family's taste. I might visit again while getting the Sabal Ramen, but I wouldn't go there just for the sweets. I'd rather go to the chain store Iidoya or M in Shinkawa, for a more reliable choice.

I have known about this mochi shop for quite some time and always wanted to try their mochi. I have visited a few times before, but they were always closed due to being sold out. On this day, I was able to purchase 4 different items that were still available: Uguisumochi, Sakura mochi, Nori Daifuku, and Mame Daifuku, all priced at 120 yen each. The Uguisumochi's mochi was soft and easy to eat without much chewing. The Sakura mochi was excellent with its salted cherry blossom leaf. The Daifuku mochi had a good texture, not too soft, with a nice flavor of seaweed and salty black beans. The fillings in each mochi had different levels of sweetness and texture, showing attention to detail. This shop is rumored to be very popular, with some people lining up as early as 6 am. I would love to try their most popular Ichigo Daifuku someday. Thank you, Kado Maru Mochi Shop!

I walked north on Higashi 8-chome Street. I couldn't resist stopping again ❤️ This time they had dango so I bought some. The dango here is soft and moist. Personally, I prefer the dango from Hakodate Gingetsu and Kokubunji Wajima. The mitarashi dango and koshian were also delicious. Personally, I like the dango with fresh soy sauce. I wonder if fresh soy sauce dango on skewers is not popular in Hokkaido. The daifuku mochi is still delicious ❤️ As expected, mochi made by small businesses is the best. I imagine an old man diligently making mochi at Azabu Ichiryoku or Minamisato 9-chome Ichiryoku, but I hope for young successors to bring innovation to mochi shops in the future. If I were healthy, I would challenge selling dango from a cart, but it's impossible with my current physical strength and determination. It's just a fleeting thought, haha. Eating makes me happy ❤️ I'll definitely come back again ❤️

I made a reservation for "Noshi Mochi" at Kadomaru Mochiten for the New Year in 2022. By booking in December, the regular price of 3,240 yen is discounted to 2,380 yen. The Daifuku are always sold early in the morning starting at 6 am, and the new flavors are so popular that you have to line up early to get them. When I visited in November, they still had Shine Muscat Daifuku in a set. "Noshi Mochi" costs 2,380 yen and will be enjoyed in a traditional New Year's Day ozoni soup. Store-bought mochi tends to get mushy, but freshly pounded mochi has a nice chewy texture and tastes delicious. I only eat mochi once a year (excluding Daifuku), but eating "Noshi Mochi" for the first time in a long while brought back nostalgic memories. I chose "Kinako" and "Black Sesame Paste" this time, and after boiling them, they still had a good chewy texture. Mochi can also be frozen, so I'll be able to enjoy mochi for a while.

I visited "Kadomaru Mochiten" on December 4th. Today, I went with a friend, making it a total of 2 people visiting by car at 8:20 am. When we arrived, there was already one customer inside. Usually, I visit during the time when they offer "strawberry daifuku," but it seems a bit early for that now. The seasonal limited item at the moment is orange daifuku, but it was already sold out at this time. If you want to make sure to get it, you need to line up when they open at 6 am. Today's purchases: - Sakura mochi for 120 yen, which is Kansai style. In Hokkaido, I haven't seen Kanto-style sakura mochi before. The sweetness of the red bean paste is subtle, and the saltiness of the sakura leaf enhances the sweetness. The main vein of the sakura leaf is slender, and you can eat it without peeling it off separately. It's well made. Sometimes sakura mochi uses sakura leaves with thick veins, making it necessary to peel them off to enjoy it properly. - Mame daifuku for 120 yen, the mochi is a bit firmer compared to convenience store daifuku. It has a good texture without any hardening agents in the shiratamako or mochi rice. The beans are black beans, and the texture is quite nice. - Kusa mochi for 120 yen, I'm not a big fan of kusa mochi. Well, I've had homemade kusa mochi from my parents with an overwhelming amount of mugwort, but this one was delicious. That's all for today's review.

[Kado Maru Mochi Shop] This is a well-known famous shop that I've been curious about but never had the chance to visit until now. I went around noon. The "Kusa Daifuku" is a flat daifuku with a good mochi texture. I thought it would have more grassy flavor, but it wasn't as grassy as I expected. The "Budo Daifuku" with Shine Muscat inside was a good combination with white bean paste. I also tried the seasonal "Satsumaimo Daifuku" with sweet potato filling. Maybe because I took it to go and it sat for a while, it became a bit tough by the time I ate it. The mochi was a bit thicker than I prefer.

I received a set of assorted mochi - the usual grass mochi and sakura mochi were included, but the shining point was the mochi with Shine Muscat grapes. It was my first time trying it and it was surprisingly delicious. The juicy sweetness of the grapes paired perfectly with the slightly firm mochi and the restrained sweetness of the white bean paste. The other mochi in the set had a similar elegant and slightly sweet taste. Thank you for the meal.

This is a shop in Sapporo. On this day, I tried all the mochi in the showcase. Although they are famous for their daifuku, I personally liked the sakuramochi and sesame shinko. The mochi at Kadomaru Mochi Shop is quite firm. I prefer softer mochi, so it was okay for me, but those who like firmer mochi would probably love it. The sakuramochi was the only one that was soft and to my liking. The anko filling is not too sweet, so you can easily eat it. Even those who don't like sweet things might enjoy it. The strawberry daifuku is said to have strawberries in it during the winter. It is very popular during that time, with lines forming as early as 6:00 am and waiting times of up to an hour. I visited on a weekday in October around 7:45 am, and there was no line. Recommended for those who like firm mochi!
The menu items I tried that were particularly delicious:
- Sakuramochi
- Beko mochi
- Suama
- Kusa shinko
- Goma shinko
- Shine Muscat daifuku
- Strawberry daifuku
- White daifuku
- Goma daifuku
- Coffee daifuku
- Kurumi daifuku
- Aka daifuku
- Shio daifuku
- Kusa daifuku
*All daifuku are priced at 120 yen each, and all dango skewers are priced at 100 yen each.
