After leaving the first restaurant near Daimon, we were supposed to head back towards Ueno/Tokyo area by JR train from Hamamatsucho Station. However, the group decided to visit a second restaurant in the same direction. We decided to get off at Okachimachi Station instead of Ueno due to the crowded conditions under the Marui side near Ueno-Okachimachi area. We headed towards the Ueno-Hirokoji intersection where we visited this place. Onekyu-san offers a special deal for members where you can enjoy draft beer, sour, and highball for only 190 yen each. Membership fee varies depending on the duration, but it is quite affordable, especially when you consider that it can be cheaper than buying two draft beers at other bars. I am a one-year member, so we started by creating membership cards for the other members who were with me. As we were filling out the membership application, our drinks arrived. We handed the forms to the staff and made a toast. It's amazing how you can have five draft beers for less than 1000 yen. Since it was our second stop of the night, I didn't drink five beers, of course. (laughs) We had chicken wings, seared mackerel, simmered tripe, yakisoba, pizza, and pickles as our snacks. I don't remember the taste of the dishes very well since we started a bit tipsy at the second stop, but I have had these dishes at Onekyu-san before, so I'm sure they were delicious. We enjoyed drinking until closing time. Thank you for the meal.

If you become a member, there is a shop where draft beer is only 190 yen... So we decided to visit. One of the members asked if there was a course available, so we found a 2,500 yen course with all-you-can-drink and 6 appetizers. The draft beer was only one glass for toasting, but you could drink highballs, sours, sake, wine, etc. The course dishes included salad, edamame, pickles, duck loin, tsukune, karaage set, and grilled udon. We were amused when edamame was served as an appetizer and also included in the course. With the additional order of seared mackerel and drooling chicken, we ended up spending less than 3,000 yen for a very filling and affordable meal. Thank you for the feast.

Delicious food and good customer service. It's worth becoming a member. Membership is 300 yen per month. The horse sashimi was tender and tasty at 290 yen. The seasonal asparagus tempura was delicious. The grilled chicken skewers were also tasty. The restroom has a small sink, making it difficult to gargle. However, I will visit again.

I've been here a few times in the past, but this is my first time posting. Overall, it's very cheap. You can get a membership card for around 300 yen, which makes both drinks and food cheaper. Because it's so cheap, I end up spending over 3,000 yen by drinking too much. It's definitely the restaurant's strategy, haha.

We decided to go to a cheap izakaya for our second round! They have a members card where you can get draft beer for 190 yen. The appetizer is edamame for 300 yen. The portions are cute and just right for ordering a variety of dishes. We ordered fried chicken, mentaiko long pizza, and a tuna sashimi platter. Among them, the mentaiko long pizza was my favorite. It's made with garlic mentaiko spread on French bread and baked, a perfect match with alcohol.

We became members in Gotanda and happened to see it in Ueno, so three of us visited together. Everyone became members and the drinking party started. There are plenty of daily events, and aside from Ladies' Day, it feels kind of friendly to salarymen. Half-price drinks are cheap. The food depends on the item and the initial pricing. The appetizer was just a few edamame beans... I think they were around 300 yen. This was a bit annoying. Also, the carbonated alcoholic drinks don't fizz much, which is a shame. The food is just normal delicious. It's kind of cheap and kind of average. I want to do a little more research.

(September 2015 revisit) I visited Tokyo for a solo drinking trip, which I call "Yokocho Tour," a few times a year. I stayed in Asakusa, but I took the train to visit this place. Whenever I come to Tokyo, I always go to "Ikkyu" because it's cheap. It's worth taking the train for it haha. I always drink Tris Highball or the cheap 8% alcohol Chu-hai called Otokomae. I gulp them down. The oxtail stew and pizza make the drinks go down smoothly. My membership card had expired, so I got a new one and enjoyed discounted drinks. It was cheap as always. I wish they would open one in Sapporo too. (First visit in April 2014) I went on a trip to Seibu Dome for a concert. I stayed in Yushima, so I thought about going to a standing bar in Ueno, but I was tired, so I went to Ikkyu for a seat. I had a membership card from the Otsuka branch, so I got discounted drinks and food. The membership benefits have been renewed from this April, but it's still a good deal. Tris Highball and Chu-hai are super cheap. The former is 214 yen (tax included) and the latter is 178 yen (tax included). You can choose the alcohol percentage for Chu-hai. 2%, 4%, and 8% are the same price. 10% requires an additional fee. Of course, I gulp down the 8% one. I like the mentaiko mayo potato and cartilage fried chicken as snacks. The drinks go down smoothly. The BIG menu is also great, and this time I ordered the BIG grated hamburger. It wasn't super juicy, but it filled me up haha. If I have the chance to go to Tokyo again, I want to gulp down drinks at Ikkyu.

Sometimes I rely on the services of Ikyu-san. This place is just so cheap! Pay 300 yen to become a member, and on the 9th, 19th, and 29th of the month, as well as on Mondays, it's Ikyu DAY... Selected appetizers and drinks are half price. Tuesdays are Drink DAY... Around 150 selected drinks are half price. Wednesdays are Ladies' DAY... Selected appetizers and drinks are half price. Thursdays are Salaryman DAY... Selected appetizers and drinks are half price. Sundays are Family DAY... Appetizers and drinks are half price when accompanied by children aged 3-15. And on Fridays and Saturdays, it's Happy DAY... Selected food is 20% off, selected drinks are 100 yen off. However, the "Kaku Highball" is not included in the selected drinks. As a Kaku Highball lover, I always roll the dice. If I roll a double, it's 9 yen, an even number is 199 yen, and an odd number means I have to get either the Mega Jockey for 598 yen or the Yokozuna-level Jockey for 796 yen. But, well, since I'm going to drink anyway, an odd number is fine with me... It's not that expensive. So far, I've rolled a double once and a double six once. I think it's been an odd number tens of times. I need to practice rolling the dice! As for the food... don't expect too much... It's a little below average compared to a regular izakaya. I really like the crispy daikon salad. For some reason, it feels like fireworks are piercing through it. I also want to try the wild pork ribs, but they come in a MEGA size so I haven't had the chance yet. And the wild pork ribs seem interesting. You count the number of pieces as you plate them, and when there's one piece left, everyone shouts "wild!" It's a place I end up going to about once a month.

In 2014, there was a collaboration between the Saitama Seibu Lions and the Ikyu Group. The first event was held at Seibu Dome starting from the opening game on March 28, 2014. Customers who showed their game tickets at Ikyu Group restaurants were treated to a free drink. After the game at Seibu Dome, we headed to one of the Ikyu Group restaurants with fellow Lions fans. We weren't sure about the exact relationship between the company and the Lions, but we were grateful for the free drink. We enjoyed beer, discussed this year's Lions team, and ordered okonomiyaki and edamame. The combination of yakitori was also delicious. It was a great promotion for Seibu fans.
