Located in Nakanoshima, Osaka, the teppanyaki restaurant "Sosaku Teppan Kurouto" is a trendy establishment that opened in October 2022. The chef, who honed his skills in various luxury hotels, showcases his talents in this restaurant. The exterior exudes a sense of luxury, with a red carpet and artistic stained glass at the entrance. Inside, the atmosphere is sophisticated and refined, with luxurious chandeliers, leather sofas, and armchairs at the elegant counter. The space is beautifully decorated with designer furniture, custom artwork, and a luxurious feel reminiscent of a hotel lounge. The highlight of the restaurant is the use of Miyazaki beef, sourced directly from a single source, and fresh seafood purchased daily from the market, all cooked on a polished teppan grill, providing a lively dining experience.
During my dinner visit, I enjoyed the recommended course menu. The appetizer, a mini-sized Miyazaki beef hamburger with grated ponzu sauce and quail egg, was flavorful and delightful. The marinated firefly squid was tender and had a great texture. The Kurouto salad with homemade dressing, cooked tableside, was a clever touch. The grilled vegetables, including red konnyaku from Shiga, shiitake mushrooms, Awaji onions, and peas, were perfectly cooked, highlighting the natural flavors of the vegetables. The steak was expertly cooked by the chef, flambeed in a spectacular show, and served with a variety of specialty salts, enhancing the flavor of the meat.
The garlic rice, crispy garlic chips, and red miso soup with homemade pickled vegetables and plum were also exceptional. The dessert, a trio of berry mousse, was a light and refreshing way to end the meal. The strong and aromatic coffee and tea served after the meal were the perfect way to conclude the dining experience at this high-end teppanyaki restaurant.
