I was led to a private room at the back of the restaurant and enjoyed a lunch course. The courtyard was beautiful and it made me feel excited. The appetizers with vegetables were delicious, each one was carefully and beautifully arranged. The fish was stuffed with ingredients and grilled whole. I was surprised by the presentation, but it was beautifully arranged when served. It was a shame that there was no sommelier available during lunch.

I had a wonderful dining experience walking along a long hallway and enjoying a lovely courtyard view. The atmosphere was great and the dishes were all cute and delicious. The wine pairing was also reasonably priced. The only downside was that they didn't notice when our water ran out.

There is a restaurant located on a street one block south of the back of the old Gion Hotel on Shirakawa Street. The street has lanterns out and has a Gion-like atmosphere. You enter the restaurant through a long approach. It is a restaurant renovated from an old machiya (traditional wooden townhouse) and you will be led to a private room at the back. Today, we are having a dinner party with 5 people. The menu is different from before, with dishes like mackerel in anchovy sauce. Has the chef changed? Yes, two years ago! The stylish atmosphere and delicious food remain the same, but it has shifted from innovative Italian fusion to French cuisine. Both are delicious! However, despite adding 2000 yen to change from lamb to beef, the portion size is small.

The 6000 yen lunch course was amazing. The restaurant had a stylish exterior and interior, which made me feel a bit intimidated to go alone, but the food was delicious. I had a Valentine's lunch! ♡ I had a main course with meat and fish. The presentation of all the dishes was beautiful and they were very delicious ☺︎♡ The champagne was also delicious, and even the dessert was amazing. Although the price is high, I think it is worth it!

It is located right in the middle of Gion in Kyoto! I love this restaurant so much that I have visited 8 times in 4 months (*^^*). The atmosphere, food, service, wine, everything is truly perfect! I am so happy to have found such a wonderful restaurant.

I visited in December. It's not a members-only Gion establishment. It's a place managed by a bartender I know. It was my first visit. It was a fun dinner, more suited for a date than a group of middle-aged men. The sommeliers were great, and I had a hard time deciding what wine to order. I want to visit this lovely place again. They say good things happen if you visit 10 times. Budget around 15,000 yen. I visited this restaurant after a long time to have a luxurious lunch. Starting with a cute mini potted plant, I enjoyed digging and eating mini vegetables with a small shovel. Each dish had herbs as a tasty accent. Finally, I had a mini parfait. It was a luxurious and enjoyable lunch time with visually appealing and delicious dishes.

Three of us girls visited this restaurant for lunch. The atmosphere of the place was lovely. Coming from Tokyo, we were surprised to find such a charming spot. Once we stepped inside, we were captivated by the traditional Japanese garden. The dishes were all very cute and Instagram-worthy, and especially on a hot day, the chilled pasta with the perfect amount of salt was delicious. This is definitely a place we want to visit again.

Today's last lunch of the year was at Gion Il Cipresso. - Today's Amuse-bouche: Foie gras terrine with turnip puree and quail egg. The foie gras melts in your mouth. - Lightly seared marinated mackerel with tomato fritters and finely sliced potatoes. Even though I'm not a big fan of mackerel, it was delicious with the sauce. The tomato fritters were amazing. - Sautéed cloud ear mushrooms with fermented cabbage and bean soup, squid ink chips, and chorizo powder. I love cloud ear mushrooms, and the soup had a rich and gentle flavor. - Spaghetti with confit oysters, mushroom ragù sauce with beef, and aromatic vegetables. The sauce was unique and delicious. - Roasted Nana Tani duck leg with Brussels sprouts, taro, liver paste, celery root puree, and leek and nut sauce. The crispy skin was delicious, and the portion was huge. - Palate cleanser: Pear sorbet with compote and fresh pear with basil flavor. - Kumquat soufflé with kumquat compote, spiced gelato, white chocolate shell, and chocolate and kumquat chips. - Tea and petit fours: Financier and chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was rich like ganache. Overall, the meal was satisfying with generous portions and fresh ingredient combinations. It was a great way to end the year.

Near Yasaka Shrine in Gion, there is a stylish restaurant located on a quaint Kyoto alley with cobblestones just south of Starbucks on Shijo Street. The entrance path to the traditional house is charming, with a stone lantern in the middle of the courtyard adding a nice touch to the ambiance. The amuse-bouche is a dish of raw oysters cooked at a low temperature of 65 degrees, preserving their texture. The appetizer consists of a crab dish with grated turnips and a sauce made from both the crab's innards and roe, topped with a red onion sauce and foam made from shiitake mushrooms. The main dish is a rare steak of Ichibo from Miran beef in Yamaguchi, cooked at a low temperature. The meal is finished with a refreshing apple pie served in a creative and stylish presentation, with apple gelato in a hollowed-out princess apple as a vessel. The dessert is accompanied by dried sweets and espresso. This restaurant in Kyoto is incredibly stylish and impressive.

The location is right next to a parking lot across from the Kanji Kentei building, facing Yasaka Shrine. Among the many old traditional house restaurants in the area, this one is quite luxurious. The food is delicious and the service is excellent, making it suitable for entertaining guests or going on a date.

Happy New Year. This year's zodiac sign may not be the boar, but the main dish was Tottori prefecture's pork shoulder. It was a dish that highlighted the natural color of the meat. It wasn't a small, delicate dish, but rather a dish that made the most of its ingredients. Among the dishes, the pasta was the most delicious. I would like to make time to visit again.

In the summer, Il Cipresso moved from Osaka to Gion. Located just off Hanamikoji, away from the hustle and bustle, you can feel the quaint atmosphere of Gion. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with a traditional Kyoto townhouse and a small garden. We started lunch with Italian sparkling wine "Ca' del Bosco Franciacorta." Today's delights included mozzarella from Yoshida Ranch in Okayama, 24-month aged Parma ham, and salami pie. Next came the pasta, which you can choose from three types. To cleanse the palate, we had burdock pickles and coriander sprouts. The meal ended with 20-day aged Aso pork shoulder loin and white chocolate mousse. We enjoyed olive leaf tea as a post-meal drink. As the dessert was served, the staff suddenly congratulated me on my birthday, even though it was not my birthday and they had mistaken my name. Despite the mix-up, I appreciated the thoughtfulness and the gesture. After filling our stomachs, we strolled from Hanamikoji to Kennin-ji Temple and then towards Higashiyama.

The impact of the coronavirus has slightly eased, and many people have appeared in Gion, making the quiet everyday life seem like a lie in the midst of Silver Week, with a clear autumn sky contrasting with the sunlight shining through Gion's Hanamikoji. I was able to encounter this restaurant. Originally located in a very large cooperage building, the modern design of the Italian restaurant is strikingly contrasting against the traditional Japanese entrance surrounding the inner courtyard, setting high expectations from the start. Despite having difficulty finding a parking space that day and notifying them of my potential lateness, they welcomed me warmly. Today, we were seated in a private room that could accommodate about 8 people, but there were only two of us, overlooking a garden where the sound of approaching autumn could be heard, and we were served a variety of ingredients like precious gems on elegant tableware. I am grateful for the innovative touch of the still young chef in the dishes, and while there were minor points where the previous day's kaiseki cuisine was faithful to the basics, it worked favorably and I believe it is not for amateurs to dispute the dedication of each dish. Furthermore, the sommelier's skillful conversation added more excitement to the dining experience. From start to finish, we were able to share a wonderful time and space. I will not forget that we were seen off until we turned the corner of the street as the last customers for lunch. I do not need to mention that my partner and I have vowed to revisit this restaurant whenever we stay in Gion. Overall, it is a fantastic Italian restaurant that I can recommend to everyone.
