I went to "Chinese Restaurant Daiki" for lunch. I was curious about this place for a while and decided to give it a try since I was alone. The restaurant was cleaner than I expected, with several 4-person tables lined up in a long space. There seemed to be a second floor as well, so it can accommodate quite a few people. When I entered, it was already full, so I had to share a table with someone else. The menu outside mentioned Tianjin rice for 600 yen, which seemed like a good deal. There were various options like rice bowls, ramen, and sets, including dishes like fried vermicelli and Zhajiangmian. I ended up ordering Mapo Ramen with a small portion of fried rice. I had never tried Mapo Ramen before, so I was curious to see how it would taste. When the food arrived, I realized that I had mistaken it for Tan Tan Men... There was soy sauce ramen topped with Mapo tofu. The fried rice looked appetizing in the rice bowl. First, I tried the ramen. The soup was quite bland, with a hint of soy sauce but a bit watery. I started to worry if it was a mistake, but when I mixed the Mapo tofu into the soup, the flavor improved and it tasted pretty good. The tofu was cut into small pieces, easy to eat, and not too spicy, suitable for children as well. It turned out to be quite delicious, dispelling my initial doubts. The noodles were thin and ordinary, like ramen you would find at a Chinese restaurant. The fried rice was very loose and almost spilled when I tried to pick it up with chopsticks. I prefer it to be a bit more moist. The flavor was just right, with mixed vegetables like green peas, corn, carrots, and small pieces of ham. I wished there was a bit more meat in it... The restaurant seemed to be quite popular, with a constant stream of customers coming in. However, the clientele was predominantly male (almost 100%), and during my visit, there were no female customers. It might be intimidating for women to enter as the interior is not visible from the outside. The lunch menu had a variety of options, so I would like to try something different if I have the chance.
