Recently, I visited a place called "Sugidama" where they are open in various locations. I aimed for their limited 10-serving boat platter! The female staff members are very polite, energetic, and have a nice vibe, but the chefs... ^^; The boat platter lunch is 990 yen including tax. Oh wow, it really looks impressive! (^^)! It includes yellowtail, tuna, seared fish, squid, salmon, egg, and salmon roe... You can also enjoy it as a seafood bowl! It comes with miso soup and salmon roe rice. I was happy to get the boat platter even before 1 o'clock! (^_-)-☆

<May 23, first visit> As a memo... Please note that there may have been changes since then (August '23). It was a weekday afternoon, just before 1 pm, but quite lively. Mainly elderly people rather than office workers, enjoying sushi with a beer in hand. Everyone was in high spirits, chatting and laughing. There are a few counter seats, as well as tables for two and four people, with a decent amount of space. I had the lunch set at Sugitama (all menus come with red miso soup): tempura, sushi set (regular) for 1210 yen, and tuna bowl for 900 yen. The sushi rice seemed to be machine-formed, with the toppings placed on top. Hmm, well, it's within the expected range of chain restaurant taste. It's convenient for a quick lunch near the station when you don't have much time. The very polite service is much appreciated.

Date and Time of Visit: May 16, 2023, 13:20 After finishing some regular business in Higashi Osaka, I stopped by "Sushi, Sake, Sakana Sugitama" at the Fuse Station store. The restaurant is located under the elevated tracks on the north side of Kintetsu Fuse Station. I learned that it is a different concept from the major conveyor belt sushi chain "Sushiro." I remembered visiting one of their stores in Juso after entering the restaurant. I ordered the "Salmon and Salmon Roe Bowl" with extra vinegar rice. The impression was quite different compared to the store in Juso. Food & Taste: 3.2 The "Salmon and Salmon Roe Bowl" was a bit small but nicely presented with colorful toppings. The salmon slices were cut in a size typically used for sushi, with five pieces served. The freshness was not outstanding but the salmon was soft, without any fishy taste, and tasted decent. As a big fan of salmon, I enjoyed it moderately. The amount of salmon was a bit less, especially with the extra vinegar rice, it felt a bit lacking. The wasabi was quite strong in spiciness, which may vary based on personal preference. Service: 3.5 The female floor staff provided clear, friendly, and polite service. They made announcements like "Be careful, the tea is hot" and explained about the two types of soy sauce. When leaving, they cheerfully said "Thank you for coming, see you again!" and even opened the door to bid farewell. Extra vinegar rice was provided for free. Atmosphere: 3.2 The location was excellent as mentioned earlier. The interior had a wooden theme with counter seats separated by partitions, providing a spacious feel. There were more than five customers before and after, and some individuals were enjoying a solo daytime drink. Cost Performance: 2.9 The "Salmon and Salmon Roe Bowl" was priced at 1,060 yen with free extra vinegar rice. Considering the quality, it felt a bit expensive compared to other seafood bowls I have had in recent years. Drink: - Data unavailable. In summary, the food was slightly better in Juso, while the service was significantly better in Fuse.

I planned to stop by a sushi restaurant for a meal, but I was late and couldn't get in. So I went to a Sushiro restaurant for the first time. They had a lot of menu items that looked good for social media, and the prices were well thought out. However, at around 3,000 yen per person, it might be considered a bit expensive in Fuse. The seats were too close to the next table, and I ended up next to people talking loudly, which was disappointing. Reasonable prices are very welcome. The green gin and soda and square highball get cheaper the more you drink, and the color of the stirrer changes too. I don't drink these two much, so the other two people I was with were enjoying them (^^). "A new encounter between simmered mackerel and pickled radish" was quite delicious! The staff seemed a bit inexperienced, but they were cute and charming (*^^*). I couldn't help but root for them.

This is my second visit. The first time we were seated at a table (4-person table) and this time we were seated at the counter. When I asked the staff if we could have a table instead, they kindly prepared a table for us after clearing it. We like to eat a lot and drink a lot, so sitting at the counter can be cramped, but it's interesting to try the unique sushi creations. The sushi rice is delicious too. I especially like the truffle sushi and caviar sushi. One thing to note this time is that the beer glass was not washed properly and the rim was chipped. Also, I prefer the normal chawanmushi (with ginkgo nuts, kamaboko, lily root, shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, and chicken). It would be nice to have the regular chawanmushi available as well. It's very crowded, so it's convenient to be able to order using QR codes.

However, when the dish arrived, the boat was not placed on top of the bowl as I had expected. Instead, the sushi pieces were served on a plate alongside the bowl and miso soup. It was a visually appealing presentation with eight different types of sushi, including akami, hamachi, salmon, and tamago. - Overall, despite the initial surprise, the quality and affordability of the food at Sugitama made it a satisfying lunch experience.

The sushi was delicious, and even though it was red rice, the price was reasonable, making us feel like we got a good deal. I would like to visit this restaurant again.
