The cream brioche matcha bread, kinako cream egg sandwich, and potato salad sandwich were the most delicious. The classic flavors were tasty. The potato salad had a strong potato taste and a simple flavor with ham included. The sandwiches had thick bread and a good amount of filling, but the fillings didn't reach all the way to the edges. The cream bread was indeed filled with plenty of cream, almost like eating just cream. It was not too sweet. The matcha bread was soft and easy to eat, with a subtle matcha flavor and a light kinako cream filling that harmonized well. It was also not too sweet, making it easy to eat in one go. Personally, I prefer a bit more sweetness. Overall, the bread sizes were not small, but not overly large either. I remember enjoying the soft bread from this place about 10 years ago, but this time, the choices didn't leave as strong of an impression.

The tenant is a half-basement 1F, and the store name is not easily recognizable as a bakery, so you might feel a bit confused at first. Upon entering, pick up the alcohol tongs tray on the left and pay at the counter on the right. The shop is small, so there is an unspoken agreement to keep a distance from other customers while choosing bread, which unfortunately doesn't allow for a leisurely selection. The bread is individually wrapped or displayed on a DIY shelf in a sushi-like style for splash prevention. There are unique low-priced bread options like coffee or red koji, so I wanted to take my time choosing... At the register, they pack additional items like coffee bread with whipped cream or caramel cream during payment, and if you don't need a bag, they allow you to pack it on the shelf behind you, which I thought was clever. Well, the cost performance is good, but the size is small. And while the bread has its own uniqueness, the excitement is a bit lacking. With prices going up these days, I felt like maybe it used to have a cost performance of 3.5 in the past. I tried the red koji, coffee (with caramel add-on), croissant, single-serving onion, Kyoto pizza, and they were all delicious, of course.

We took a walk as a couple to a bakery in Shimogori. The weather was nice that day, surprisingly warm for winter. We crossed the Katsura River while looking out at Nishiyama, passed by Katsura Rikyu, and had a pleasant walk enjoying the beautiful day. We actually came here for this bakery. It is located in a good spot near the Hankyu station, but the store was modestly and charmingly operated. We went inside and bought some delicious bread (baguette, salted butter red bean bun, Milan-style doria Kyoto wheat pizza bread). When we got home, we tried them right away. The baguette had a wonderful aroma of wheat flour that spread throughout the mouth with just one bite, showing that they use very good wheat. The salted butter red bean bun had a perfect balance of salted butter that complemented the red bean filling. The Milan-style doria bread, despite looking like a pizza bread, turned out to be delicious with a strong minced meat flavor, just like a doria bread. It was really delicious. Overall, this bakery in Kyoto was delicious and had great value for money. It's a bit inconvenient for us since we usually use JR and city buses, but we will definitely come back again.

I visited around 1 pm on a regular day. I have used the place a few times before, but this time I decided to try a bread that I had never eaten before. There weren't many options, maybe because of the time. I ended up buying a brioche cream and hard bread. The brioche cream was quite heavy and had a surprising amount of cream inside. It was a bit difficult to handle, so maybe a little less cream would be better. However, it was delicious with a subtle sweetness. I thought I was choosing a different bread this time, but I unconsciously picked the hard bread that I had bought before. It turned out that I tend to choose based on my preferences. When toasted, the hard bread was crispy and had just the right amount of saltiness when dipped in butter. It was delicious. I couldn't find many coppe bread options, and there was no information about choosing the filling, so I gave up. Maybe I will check next time. It felt like the bread was a bit smaller, maybe due to the high cost of wheat. Even though it felt a bit pricey, it was very tasty. I will visit again.

Today I bought bread at a bakery here. It's located on the first floor of a tenant building, but the name of the store is plain so it doesn't seem like a bakery (lol). There must be a deep meaning behind it! I don't know though. The bread I bought is shown in the picture. They were all small for the price, but the next morning I could still enjoy the fragrant aroma of wheat. I don't know where the wheat flour comes from (^o^;) It may not be satisfying for foodies, but it was a tasty bread. Thank you for the meal! 🍞

Until September 2021, due to prefectural restrictions on movement and emergency declarations, I was unable to visit places. Finally, in October 2021, with the lifting of the state of emergency and the resumption of economic activities, restrictions on movement within prefectures have been slightly relaxed. This time, I decided to visit the Vietnamese restaurant "Vietnam Bar x Saigon Saigon" near me by making a reservation in advance. I had planned to visit the Rikyu-ji Temple for lunch, but it was closed on the day... What a pity! So, I decided to stop by here where I had bookmarked before and purchase some bread for breakfast. I arrived at the shop a little after 1 pm, and there were two customers already there. After disinfecting my hands with alcohol for COVID-19 prevention, I entered the store. My main purpose this time was to buy breakfast bread. First, I decided to purchase the red koji bread, which was my top choice... and I also got curious about the maple melon bread, which has made a comeback! Is it a limited edition for the autumn season? → My grandchildren love melon bread! The next morning, I first toasted the red koji bread. The red color of the koji was impressive, and the bread had a fine texture. When toasted, it had a flavorful and fluffy texture, and it was delicious! It seems that my grandchildren didn't quite like the red koji bread, but they enjoyed the fluffy and tasty melon bread. Thank you for the meal.

I visited around 3:00 PM on a regular day for a takeout. I decided to buy some bread that I didn't get last time. I bought cream bread, hard type loaf bread, anpan, and coppe bread. The coppe bread can be filled with your favorite cream on the spot. When I asked what was popular and recommended, they suggested red bean paste and butter. Since I was already getting anpan, I asked for other options, and they recommended sweet combinations like whipped cream and jam, or whipped cream and condensed milk. I love sweet things, so I chose whipped cream and condensed milk. Next time, I'm thinking of trying kinako (soybean flour) too. The whipped cream and condensed milk coppe bread was not as sweet as I expected, it was more on the light side of sweetness. The anpan had a lot of red bean paste packed in, and the cream bread had more custard than bread. The best one for me this time was the loaf bread. There were a few types of loaf bread available, and I chose the hard type. When toasted, it had a strong crispy texture and wasn't too fluffy. Unlike the sweet high-end loaf bread that's common nowadays, this one had a nostalgic, less sweet taste which I really liked. It's rare to find this type of loaf bread these days, and I'm glad I found it. Since there were no other customers when I visited, I was able to ask for recommendations and explanations from the staff, which I appreciated. I will definitely visit again.

Located a 3-5 minute walk from Katsura Station is the popular bakery and eatery, Mairi. This bakery is always bustling with customers, with a wide variety of delicious-looking bread on display. While there is no seating available, it's a great place to pick up some bread to enjoy at home. This time, I purchased their popular homemade curry bread and a hamburger sandwich. The sandwich, made with mozzarella cheese and simmered hamburger, had a juicy and flavorful patty that was perfectly complemented by the rich sauce and melted cheese. Mairi is highly rated in the Katsura area, so be sure to visit and try their offerings. Bon appétit!

I visited this place around noon on a regular day. It is located close to my residence, in an area where I often go to the station, massage parlor, bank, and hospital. This shop is on the first floor of a sports gym, and I have known about it for a while because I used to go to the neighboring clinic. As soon as I entered the shop, there was a wonderful aroma. There were already 3 customers inside, and the small shop was crowded. I wanted to take my time choosing bread, but I tried to coordinate with the other customers and made my selection. I bought a set of 4 items: curry bread, mini cheese bread, melon bread, and cream bread. The curry bread had a slightly over-fried bread crumb texture, but the curry was moist and flavorful without overpowering the bread. The mini cheese bread was small but had plenty of cheese and a perfect firmness that I liked. Despite not being a fan of hard bread, I enjoyed its texture. The melon bread exceeded my expectations with its fluffy interior. It was a delight for my tired jaw after the mini cheese bread. The cream bread had a generous amount of cream, which I appreciated, but it became sticky on the surface before I could finish it due to being put in a plastic bag. The variety of bread seems extensive, and I would like to visit again since it is close by, although it might be challenging to catch them open after work or find the same selection. Overall, the bread was delicious, and I will definitely visit again.

All the reasonably priced and cute small breads are lined up ☆ - Adult Chocolate Bread 150 yen - Mini Melon Bread with Chocolate Bar 120 yen - Strawberry Maritocco 250 yen There was even the trending Maritocco! And the regular Maritocco is only 200 yen, what a bargain! I bought the strawberry Maritocco and ate it right away, it was delicious with a fluffy and gentle texture and plenty of whipped cream! This is the best cost performance at 250 yen. The mini melon bread was also fluffy and had a gentle taste, I finished it in no time. The cocoa bread with chocolate chips was bitter yet easy to eat, very satisfying. These breads are recommended for children as well. I went there on a whim, but it was so good that I want to go back again. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I went to the area near Katsura Rikyu. I remembered that there was a popular bakery near Hankyu's Katsura Station, so I stopped by to check it out. The bakery is called "Pandokoro Mōde" and it is located on the first floor (or rather, semi-basement) of a building that houses a sports gym called "Sports Club Ship Katsura". Inside the bakery, there were various types of bread displayed. Most of the bread was priced at 200 yen or below, making it quite affordable. The bread dough is characterized by being fermented for a long time. I purchased three different types of bread and headed home. - Salmon Bread: A bread with flaked salmon and blocks of salmon mixed into the dough. The flaked salmon has a nice salty flavor. The subtle crunchy texture of the onions adds to the enjoyment. - Mentaiko Mochi Cheese: Topped with mentaiko and seaweed, this bread contains pounded rice cakes and cheese inside. You can enjoy the strong flavor of the cheese along with the chewy texture of the rice cakes. It's a fun bread with the taste of mentaiko. - Wiener Roll: The visual of the Aurora sauce on top of this bread is very appealing. It uses coarsely ground wieners with a crunchy texture. It was delicious when combined with the Western-style sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed all three breads.

This is a bakery located about a 3-minute walk from the east exit of Hankyu Katsura Station. It is a small shop on the first floor of a building that houses a sports gym. I had passed by the shop in my car many times before, but never noticed it until now. I found comments online praising their curry buns, so I decided to stop by on a weekday morning. I bought one for 170 yen (tax included), knowing it wasn't freshly fried, and ate it in my car right away. The curry bun was about 8cm in diameter, with a crispy texture from the coarse breadcrumbs used for frying. Despite not being freshly fried, the bun still had a deliciously crispy and fragrant taste. The use of coarse breadcrumbs ensured that it wasn't greasy at all. The filling was made with a chicken curry stewed with plenty of vegetables and fruits. Though not juicy, the concentrated and sticky texture of the filling was evident. The chunks of potatoes added a nice texture. The spiciness of the curry gradually built up as I ate. A well-made curry bun is truly delicious, whether freshly fried or not. This bakery's curry bun was indeed impressive, maintaining its crispy texture even after some time. I look forward to buying more freshly baked buns on my next visit. Thank you for the meal. [Additional note] On a later visit, I was lucky to find freshly fried curry buns available. They were as delicious as I had imagined, with a juicy filling and exceptional crispiness. Freshly fried curry buns are even more delicious!

A bakery that opened in 2001, located east of the bus street from Keifuku Electric Railway Katsura Station East Exit. The store on the first floor of the building has a brown exterior with a wooden sign. The chic interior displays elegantly arranged bread. They offer a "Brioche Cream Pan" with custard cream on brioche dough and a satisfying "Croque Madame" sandwich. Although they have a limited variety of bread, each one is delicious and authentic.

There is a shop with a unique name a little east of Katsura Station. At first, you might think it's a sushi restaurant. Next, you might think it's a rice ball shop, but it turned out to be a bakery. They mainly offer deli and sweet bread, with a wide variety of sandwiches. The curry bread is famous, with two types of fried donut-style. According to a trusted reviewer, the curry bread is amazing. I bought it, of course. I also got a walnut tart. The curry bread did have a special taste, and the tart was rich in flavor like a high-end pastry shop. Perhaps they have a strong commitment to quality?

I visited another restaurant in Katsura based on a follower's review. The place was described as a "meal place" and I initially thought it was a bakery due to the name "Pandokoro"! It is located just a few minutes' walk from Katsura Station, in a semi-basement of a building with the entrance slightly down some stairs from the road. The place seemed very popular, with customers coming in one after another. What caught my eye was the Coppe Pan. You can have it as it is, but you can also ask for your favorite ingredients to be sandwiched on the spot. I chose condensed milk and sweet bean butter. I shared it with my daughter as a substitute for dinner that day. The Coppe Pan was soft and moist, with a hint of sweetness in the dough itself. While the condensed milk cream was good, what went well with the bread was the sweet bean butter. The buttery saltiness in the sweet bean matched my taste. Salted bread was also to my liking, with a distinct salty taste. Nut and caramel tart was filled with plenty of nuts coated in caramel, with a thin crust. It was perfect as a snack, especially for nut and caramel lovers. Rusk was lightly crispy with a hint of sweetness, reminding me of the taste of toasted bread crusts from the past. Although I don't remember the price of each item, I felt that the pricing was reasonable and accessible for locals. I would like to visit this place again when using Katsura Station. Ease of reservation - Likelihood of revisiting: ★★★ Thank you for the meal!

The reviewer frequents the area every week, but always in the evening. They had given up on finding curry bread at Pravida at this time, but thanks to information from mafu, they discovered an even more delicious bakery. The small shop was run by a lady who recommended their homemade curry bread for 170 yen. The curry bread had a generous amount of filling and a well-balanced roux that paired perfectly with the fried bread. The reviewer found it addictively delicious and went back the following week. They also tried the mini French bread for 170 yen, which was generously filled with butter. The reviewer was surprised by the amount of butter and found it incredibly delicious. They also tried the square sandwich bread for 350 yen, which had a rich buttery flavor. Although they didn't try the filled bread, they noted that there were three options available. The reviewer appreciated the shop's dedication to quality and personalized service, as the lady remembered them from the previous week. Overall, they were impressed by the bakery's attention to detail and delicious offerings.

It was along the way from Katsura Station to Katsura Rikyu. I felt nostalgic. The cream-filled bread comes in different varieties, and they add the filling after you order. I also bought some hard bread, but the cream-filled bread had a gentler taste and was delicious. It's called a dining place, and the curry bread looked delicious.
