When you think of Minoh, you think of maple leaves, waterfalls, and monkeys. I remember going on a field trip to Minoh when I was in elementary school. Even back then, I saw maple leaf tempura being sold and I wondered what it would taste like. When I finally tried it as an adult, it was different from what I had imagined (laughs). I had thought tempura would be soft, but it turned out to be crispy with a chewy texture, like a sweet and fragrant crunchy snack. It's a delicious and simple treat for snacking.

This is a souvenir shop located on the walking path from Minoh Station in Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture to Minoh Waterfall. Along this walking path, there are many souvenir shops lined up, but this shop is the closest to the station. At the storefront, they fry the famous Minoh specialty "Momiji Tempura," emitting a fragrant smell of oil. Momiji Tempura is made by frying edible maple leaves with a slightly sweet seasoning, and it retains the shape of a maple leaf. Despite being called tempura, it is more like a fried snack with a good crunch. Momiji Tempura is sold in most other shops as well, but all shops use the same packaging (bag), so there may be some agreement among them. As you get closer to the waterfall, the number of shops decreases, so it is recommended to purchase around this area near the station.

It's the season of autumn leaves♪ I haven't gone leaf-peeping this year yet, but I received a souvenir from Minoo called "Maple Leaf Tempura." I had it a few years ago and it was really delicious, so I was happy to have it again this time. It's crispy and the oil oozes out (lol). Let's just have a little bit~ (lol). It's a snack that you can't stop eating. It's made by coating edible maple leaves with a sweet sesame-flavored wheat flour mixture and then frying them until crispy. You can see them being fried at shops along the way to Minoo Falls. It's a delicious snack that evokes a sense of Japanese charm♡
