After a long time, I had the famous Unagi Oke Unagi Chazuke <Matsu> at this restaurant. Of course, I changed the liver to grilled liver, had chawanmushi, and beer. It was amazing!! I had only eaten sweet Unagi Jyu in Fukuoka before, so it was refreshing to try the Kanto-style Unagi while drinking sake. Many places close after lunchtime, but luckily this restaurant was open all day, which was very convenient!

Continuing from yesterday, work was delayed again today and I was wondering what to do for dinner. Since it's Sunday night, I thought I might be able to avoid the crowds and went to this place on the 9th floor of Hakata City. I wanted something light, so I ordered grilled white rice. The restaurant seemed to have many customers coming in from the outside. I couldn't hear much Japanese being spoken... It was served in about 15 minutes. Unlike Kanto-style, it had a crispy and refreshing taste. It was even better with wasabi. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. There is a terrace on this floor where you can overlook the night view of Hakata Station area. It was quite beautiful.

I had lunch at an eel specialty restaurant on the 9th and 10th floors of JR Hakata City, which is directly connected to Hakata Station, about 80 meters away. I ordered the eel rice bowl for 3,520 yen. At this restaurant, you can change the soup to liver soup for an additional 110 yen. I wish they had included it from the beginning without me having to notice. The eel itself was a bit on the soft side, I prefer it a bit more crispy on the surface. However, the meat was tender and delicious. There are other eel restaurants in Fukuoka that offer better value for money and taste, so I think I will go there next time. Nevertheless, being able to eat eel at Hakata Station is not bad considering the location cost.

I had eel and sake at Hakata Hankyu before. The eel I ate was cooked in the Hamamatsu-style of shallow steaming. It's been a long time since I had eel. I switched from beer to sake and had eel liver and eel roll, then changed to eel rice bowl. I can't wait for February when alcohol restrictions are lifted so I can go eat eel. #EelTokuto #HakataStation #HakataHankyu #Fukuoka #EelDrinking #DayDrinking #FoodPorn #Tabelog #SakeBathing #EelRiceBowl

During the New Year when everywhere is crowded, it seems like most restaurants are closed. I haven't had any traditional New Year's food like osechi or mochi, so I decided to have some eel at "Kuuten"! I was able to enter without waiting in line. About 15 minutes after ordering, the "unaju" arrived. The difference between "matsu" and "take" is the number of eels, with "matsu" having one eel. The sauce is different from Kyushu's, but the taste is light and enjoyable. I felt happy from the New Year and ended up lingering there for a while.

After finishing some errands with my eldest son, we decided on an eel restaurant. With the situation regarding COVID-19 calming down a bit, there were quite a few popular dining places at the station with lines forming here and there. However, we found an eel restaurant that was not too crowded. We ordered highball, eel bowl, and hittsumabushi (eel over rice with condiments). The eel was light and refreshing, but personally, I prefer it to be a bit more fatty. The hittsumabushi was called "ocha-zuke" on the menu. The broth was made with kombu tea. Everyone has their own preferences, but I found it a bit disappointing. The prices were reasonable, the interior was clean, and the service was good. I am grateful that my eldest son and I were able to have a pleasant meal together after a long time. Thank you for the meal.

After the wedding ceremony, we went on a river cruise. Before parting ways, we felt hungry and decided to have a meal. When I offered to pay, my mom suggested eel! I remembered there was a place called Unagi Tokare in Tokyu Ginza, but we ended up going there. We ordered grilled eel and eel rice bowls. My mom had an eel rice bowl, my dad had a premium eel rice bowl, and my sister joined us for a family meal after a long time (my brother couldn't make it as he is overseas). The eel was delicious with a rich flavor. We also had some drinks and the total bill came to around 20,000 yen, which was satisfying for all of us!

I visited the "Kuuten" dining area at Hakata Station after a long time. I was planning to have sushi, but for some reason, I felt like having eel instead...(^0^;) So, I decided to try the eel dish here. - The lunch menu offers a "half portion" of eel at a reasonable price. One whole eel is too much for me, so the half portion is just right. - I was torn between having "unagi don" and "unagi chazuke," but I ended up choosing the latter. I realized later that I had the same dish during my last visit. (^_^; - Unagi Chazuke: Half portion (1980 yen) - The chawanmushi was included in the set this time, unlike last time. However, there was no dessert. - The eel portion seemed slightly smaller this time. (^_^; However, the eel was cooked perfectly and delicious, as expected from a specialty store. - The dashi for the chazuke had a slightly strong saltiness. - The miso soup did not contain eel liver. - Accompaniments included condiments and pickles. - There were three ways to enjoy the dish: as unagi don, with condiments on top, or with dashi poured over it. Each way provided a different and enjoyable taste. - Although the amount of eel was small, the quality of the cooking made it taste even better than before. I do enjoy eel, but it can be expensive. If I have to pay around 3000-4000 yen, I would prefer having Italian or French cuisine for lunch. However, at this price point, it's not bad at all.

Father and I visited the restaurant at 5 pm on a regular day. We were the only customers, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The atmosphere was nice, even though it was a bit dimly lit. I wonder if the spacing between tables was due to COVID-19. I ordered the Ume Shu on the rocks from Dazaifu-san. It was sweet and easy to drink, just the right amount. The name is cute. We ordered the Umaki to share, along with the Shirayaki on top. We asked for them to bring out the dishes as soon as they were ready. We started with the Umaki, which came in 4 pieces, so we had 2 each. It was bigger than expected, with plenty of eel inside and piping hot, very delicious. Next was the Shirayaki on top, which came with wasabi and ginger on the side. It was delicious! The wasabi wasn't too spicy and paired well with the Shirayaki's oil. Finally, we had the Uunaju on top. It was incredibly delicious, and I regret not upgrading to the special version. It might have been the best Unaju I've ever had. It was quite filling, but I could have eaten more. The balance of the crispy skin and juicy meat was perfect. The sauce was sweet, complementing the Sansho pepper well. The meal also came with pickles, soup, and a small side dish. The side dish was a vinegar dish with eel, and it was tasty. The service was attentive. I thought I would like to go back when I want to indulge.

At the current time, 11:20 AM on a weekday, inside Hakata Station... I don't come here often anymore, but let's have an early lunch at a restaurant in the station. My workplace has changed, so I rarely visit the Hakata Station area these days. Now, what should I eat? Looking at the restaurant guide in the station, there are options like tonkatsu, Chinese food, and sukiyaki, making it hard to decide. Alright, as an eel lover, I choose eel! So, I head to Unagi Toku on the 9th floor of the station. Surprisingly, there are quite a few customers even at this time. I decide to go for the eel rice bowl (upper grade) priced at 3,520 yen. The waitress also offers to add chawanmushi for an additional 110 yen, and I accept. It takes about 15 minutes for the food to be served. Let's dig in! Hmm, the liver soup doesn't have any liver in it, just regular soup? Disappointed, I try the eel. The surface is nicely crispy, but the meat is so soft that it breaks apart easily. It lacks the crispy texture and umami flavor of eel. It feels like I'm just eating rice with the sweet and savory sauce. It's too bland. I can't help but think of the delicious eel I had at another restaurant. Maybe I should have gone for the limited eel rice bowl set with eel tea rice instead!

This is a restaurant located in the food court on the 10th floor of Hakata Station. The main store is in Hamamatsu, and it is a rare Shizuoka-style eel restaurant in Fukuoka, where dishes like Yanagawa are more common. The menu includes eel rice bowls, steamed eel, hitsumabushi, and various other eel dishes. During lunchtime, I had the affordable hitsumabushi, which was around 2000 yen. I also tried the eel roll as a side dish, and the fluffy egg was highly recommended. They offer a variety of drinks, so I think it would be a nice place to visit at night for some drinks and eel dishes.

I stopped by while shopping at the end of the year and the beginning of the year. Even though it was lunchtime and only about half of the seats were taken, I thought it might be a miss as I entered. I ordered the pine set, draft beer, grilled liver, and pickles after looking at the menu. The taste is basically good, but the impression is that the price is high. I didn't pay much attention to the prices when ordering, but the above dishes and two draft beers cost about ¥8,500. Well, considering the location, I guess it can't be helped. Thank you for the meal. If I win at the horse races, I'll visit again (laughs).

I was planning to go to Yamachuu that day, but it was closed, so I changed my plans and went to the eel restaurant I wanted to go to. It was a struggle just to go up the elevator at Kuten. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was no waiting and I was able to enter smoothly. I ordered the eel rice bowl and it arrived quickly. The sauce was on the thick side, which wasn't really to my taste. The eel was a bit soft even though it was properly grilled over charcoal. Well, maybe it was because I went early. The sauce also had a kind of commercial taste. Thank you for the meal!

After a tiring day at work, I felt like recharging with some eel, so I casually stopped by this restaurant alone. I like this place because it's easy to dine alone. I ordered a draft beer and an eel rice bowl. The eel was fluffy and had a nice charcoal flavor, just what I was looking for. Come to think of it, it was my first time eating eel alone! I feel like such an adult, haha. I think I'll continue to use this place casually in the future!

Hey there! I was looking for a late lunch spot in a shopping and dining area where everything was closed. It was unusual for a department store to have a break time. I found an eel restaurant that was open and only had two groups of customers. I was a bit worried at first, but as expected, the prices were high! The eel rice bowl was 3,600 yen haha. I ended up going with the recommended eel tea-infused rice bowl lunch set.

I went to Kuten for lunch after a long time. Many of the restaurants in Kuten are currently undergoing major renovations. I am looking forward to the reopening at the end of April. While strolling around, I came across this charming eel restaurant where I could relax. As soon as I entered, there was a large counter, and solo diners were usually seated here. The spacing between adjacent seats was also generous, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. With many floor staff in this space, the service is attentive. However, it was a bit difficult to take photos of the menu, as it felt like I was being watched. By chance, this time I tried the "Sakura" set menu for Kuten's 8th anniversary. It is limited to 10 servings for lunch and dinner. Compared to the regular set menu at a similar price, it came with chawanmushi and pickles, and had more dishes. The amount of eel was the same as the regular set. The eel on top of the rice was slightly reduced and served with pickles. Since I don't often eat eel, I was curious about the Kanto-style preparation. The skin was crispy on the edges with a slightly elastic texture. When you put the spoon in, the meat was soft and crumbled easily. It seems like it's steamed and then grilled. The sauce also had a mild sweetness. Personally, coming from Hakata, I prefer a thicker sauce. It was suggested to eat it like hitsumabushi: 1) scoop it from the container and eat it like a rice bowl, 2) with white leeks and wasabi as condiments, 3) pour the broth and enjoy it like ochazuke. I enjoyed eating it with condiments, as the texture of the leeks and the spiciness of the wasabi added to the flavor. Although pickles were included, I was satisfied with these three ways of eating it. The eel in pickles was warm, while the cucumber was cold, which was a bit awkward. The portion was just right, and I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the famous eel restaurant, Unagi Toko Hakata, owned by Komada Tokuhiro in Hakata City. The reason why this renowned eel restaurant, Unagi Toko, has managed to maintain Komada Tokuhiro's reputation in the eel restaurant industry without ever letting it go is quite obvious. Now, as for Komada Tokuhiro, during his amateur days, he was a standout talent who garnered attention despite not making it to the Koshien tournament. In high school, whenever Komada Tokuhiro practiced batting, the school broadcast would alert everyone to pay attention to the direction of the ball. He was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the second round. In his third year as a pro, he made his first start in place of the injured Seiichi Nakahata and hit a grand slam in his very first at-bat, making history as the first player in Japanese pro baseball to do so. He was part of the "50 Trio" alongside Hiromi Makihara and Yoshiaki Yoshimura, and was known for his outstanding performance. In 1994, he became the first player to transfer to a domestic team through free agency, joining the Yokohama team. He played a key role as the fifth batter in the "Machine Gun Lineup" and contributed to their championship victory. He amassed a total of 2,006 hits, won the Best Nine award once, and received the Golden Glove award 10 times. Known as the "Grand Slam Man," Komada Tokuhiro is renowned for his exceptional ability to hit grand slams. His feat of hitting a grand slam every 15 home runs is a record that is unlikely to be broken. As for Unagi Toko, the eel restaurant owned by the legendary Komada Tokuhiro in the eel restaurant industry, their eel dishes are truly exceptional! Their bold yet delicate eel dishes bring out the most luxurious flavors! Their sauce, like the defense in baseball, complements Komada Tokuhiro's batting (eel) and enhances the overall taste to the fullest. And lastly, their rice is also top-notch! Whenever I have to have dinner alone during a business trip to Fukuoka, I always choose to dine here. The food is incredibly delicious! I will rate it 10 points higher in honor of Komada Tokuhiro's jersey number.

I went to Fukuoka to have fun, but once again I was turned down by my favorite eel restaurant. To make good use of my time, I decided to try a different restaurant where reservations could be made in advance. When I arrived on the day, there was a long line outside. It seems to be a popular place! The taste was not particularly memorable, but it wasn't bad. It was delicious. It's a bit rough around the edges, but still acceptable. However, I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant.
