At 7:30 in the evening, I left my house with my partner to go for a casual drink. We walked towards a bright direction like moths, and ended up coming to this restaurant as my partner suggested it was close by and we hadn't been there before. We didn't have a reservation, but we were warmly welcomed and seated at a luxurious large table for two. We ordered drinks and chicken skin skewers as soon as we sat down, and started with a toast with beer and cabbage. The salt and sauce both had a strong punch, and while both were delicious, I personally preferred the salt as it brought out the crispy and chewy texture of the skin. I left the rest of the ordering to my partner, and we enjoyed pork skewers, liver, shiitake mushrooms, shishamo fish, onions, and chilled tofu. Everything was delicious and we leisurely enjoyed the hot skewers. The cabbage sauce was also original and tasty. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full. The staff were also wonderful. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I chose to visit Ekohikariya-san, a popular izakaya in Hakata, after seeing it on TV. It had been about 3 years since I last visited due to the pandemic. I ordered a draft beer to drink alone at night along with various yakitori items such as chicken skin, heart, liver, and thick fried tofu. I was served cabbage with a special sauce, which I learned is unique to Hakata. The yakitori was delicious, with a crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior that paired well with my beer (I switched to shochu and soda for my second drink). The pork skewers were also tasty, with no unpleasant odor. I finished off with an additional order of yakitori. Overall, it was a great dining experience sitting at the counter, enjoying my meal at my own pace.

This branch of Torikawa Minister is always a good place to sit. It's actually just a short walk from Hakata Station. Cross the intersection in front of KITTE and turn left to get there. Visitors from outside the prefecture are sure to be delighted with this restaurant. The taste is the same, but I was impressed by the clean interior and the brisk response of the staff. Personally, I like the Torikawa Shio, and I also enjoyed the pork trotters that I ordered for the first time this time.

This is a yakitori restaurant located a short walk from Hakata Station, Chikushi Exit. They offer a specialty dish called "torikawa maki," which is chicken skin wrapped around a skewer, a popular gourmet dish in Hakata. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere typical of yakitori places. The torikawa maki is priced at 139 yen per skewer, referred to as "Hakata chicken skin" here. Other skewers are priced at 129 yen each, making it a relatively affordable place. The menu focuses mainly on yakitori, with limited other options. I tried various items including torikawa maki, tomato skewers, bacon cheese rolls, pork belly, bonjiri (chicken tail), squid skewers, and shiitake mushrooms. The torikawa maki had good portion sizes, although I prefer a crispier texture. The skewers were a bit salty, but paired well with beer. The pork belly was delicious, and I also enjoyed the tomato skewers. Overall, it's a good place to enjoy affordable skewers and drinks. Cheers!

The preparation of the chicken skin takes several days, which has become a specialty, but honestly, it tasted very normal. I think the chicken skin at a regular yakitori restaurant is tastier. The seating options are limited to counter and tatami, which is inconvenient.

I visited "Hakata Torikawa Daimin Ekimae Kushikura" located a 5-minute walk from Hakata Station for my Hakata gourmet trip part 3. I had seen it on TV before and finally got the chance to go. I arrived a little after 6 pm and was able to get in without waiting too long. However, there was a wait time afterwards, showing how popular the place is. They use the softest part of chicken, the neck skin, and wrap it around skewers, then pre-cook it, marinate it in their special sauce, and grill it multiple times. When I tried it, it was juicy and crispy. The grilling process removes excess fat, so the skin isn't greasy, and the sauce brings out a nice sweet and savory flavor. They offer both sauce and salt for seasoning, but personally, I preferred the salt. They also have skewers with yam and shiitake mushrooms, which were also delicious. I couldn't stop ordering beer and highballs to go with them! Finally, I finished off with a complimentary soup. It was a great meal.

Minister Torikawa visited Sumiyoshi's restaurant about 10 years ago and felt like eating there again. Today, he went to a restaurant near the hotel. He started with beer and 5 pieces of grilled chicken skin with salt and sauce each, accompanied by cabbage as an appetizer. He enjoyed biting into the chicken skin, which he hadn't had in a while. The four young male staff members were working hard, which was nice to see. He also ordered bacon cheese rolls, chicken liver, shiitake mushrooms, and cold tofu, along with red wine and white wine mixed with hot water. The additional skewers were all delicious, but he didn't quite like the Suntory cup wines, he chuckled.

Torikawa Oozume. There were various places and they were all crowded, but I was able to enter the shop on the east side of Hakata Station without waiting. Maybe because it wasn't listed on Tabelog yet. Perhaps the location of this post is slightly different... I enjoyed one of Hakata's specialties. I haven't compared it to others, so it's hard to evaluate, but it was delicious. Most of all, I was happy to be able to eat slowly!

On the second night in Fukuoka, we went to the famous "Torikawa" restaurant, specifically "Hakata Torikawa Daijin." We were able to get a reservation on the day of. We started with 20 pieces of Torikawa (grilled chicken skin with sauce). They were tender and juicy, and 10 pieces per person was just right. It went well with beer or highball, and the refreshing taste of cabbage helped reset our palate for more. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

During my trip to see the musical "Elisabeth" at Hakataza on the first day, we decided to have dinner at "Hakata Torikawa Daiminister" in Hakata. We were asked about our drink preferences and how many skewers of "torikawa" we wanted. Since it was my first time, I asked the staff for recommendations and we ordered 6 skewers each of salt and sauce flavors. For drinks, they only had "Malt's" beer, so I opted for a sweet potato shochu highball instead. Although I usually prefer beer, I'm not a fan of Malt's taste. We then each ordered our desired dishes and started our meal. This restaurant mainly serves yakitori, with very few side menu options like many yakitori places in Kansai. As for the "torikawa," my daughter and wife preferred salt while I preferred sauce, so we added 2 more skewers each. My daughter enjoyed the "Bacon Cheese Roll" and my wife liked the "Yam" dish, so we also ordered more of those. Overall, we were satisfied with the Hakata-style "torikawa." It was delicious.

Today I had a drink here ^ ^ I wonder when it started, but chicken skin = guruguru in Hakata has become a standard. Here, it feels like they are mainly focused on yakitori, so the yakitori menu is rich. It's a happy point that the wait time until serving is not long. It's not a big piece of sushi, but you can enjoy a lot of variety ^ ^ Thank you for the meal ♪

I visited this restaurant that a friend recommended to me on this day. First, I ordered grilled chicken skin with salt and sauce, along with a draft beer. The crispy chicken skin went well with the beer. I was curious about "darm" so I ordered it, and it turned out to be a type of hormone, but it was delicious. I switched to sweet potato shochu halfway through and ordered grilled gizzards, pork belly, and meatballs. The grilled skewers were so tasty that I ended up drinking too much. Thank you for the delicious grilled chicken skin.

Sometimes I suddenly crave chicken skin and chicken cartilage. There are those who prefer it with sauce and those who prefer it with salt, but I can't choose because I like both equally. I also like pork belly, pig's feet, intestines, chicken thigh, heart, and liver. When I come here, I always order a half head of cabbage. There are many chicken cartilage restaurants, but for me, Torikawa Daimin seems to have a good balance. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Hakata, ramen, udon, Mizutaki, motsunabe, gyoza, saba with sesame, and mentaiko are famous dishes. This time, I wanted to try chicken skin, which I had heard was delicious in Hakata. I found a restaurant near the station using the Tabelog app and decided to go in. As soon as I sat at the counter, I saw skewers of chicken skin lined up in front of me. It was impressive. Everyone kept ordering, so they were prepared in advance like this. The Kyushu yakitori sauce is sweeter than the ones in Tokyo, and it pairs well with the crispy chicken skin that has been drained of oil. It was delicious and easy to eat, so I ended up ordering about 10 skewers by myself. It was a great experience. However, now I feel like I have to eat more dishes in Hakata before leaving. As a finishing touch, I ordered a dish called Torimeshi, which was a tasty rice porridge with a chicken broth flavor. It was different from the one in Kagoshima, but still delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat crispy grilled skewers wrapped around in a spiral, so I went to this restaurant located near my hotel. The Premium Malts beer was certified with a perfect foam, but it didn't meet my expectations, tasting like a typical izakaya beer. So, for my second drink, I ordered shochu with hot water. The various skewers (yakitori) were all delicious. They were crispy, and eating them with cabbage made the flavors stand out. I preferred the salt-flavored kawa-yaki, so I added that to my order along with chicken wings. I think this is a great place to enjoy cheap and delicious Fukuoka cuisine in a casual setting.

I went out for drinks with Minister Torikawa and some work-related people. I finally got to try the chicken skin skewers that I had been wanting to eat since coming to Hakata. The place is located about 6-7 minutes from Hakata Station Chikushi Exit. We didn't make a reservation on this day, so we only had 90 minutes to eat and drink. The restaurant was very lively and there was almost no social distancing. We ordered a variety of skewers, mainly focusing on Hakata Torikawa's sauce and salt. The chicken skin wrapped around the skewers was addictive. The alcohol went down very easily. I personally preferred the salt flavor. We quickly ate, drank, and settled the bill (¥4,946) in less than an hour before leaving the restaurant. It was a great place with a B-class vibe that I really enjoyed.

We started with pickled cucumbers, tomatoes, and vinegar dishes. Finally, the long-awaited chicken skewers arrived, with 12 skewers in total. The chicken skin is wrapped around the skewer, dipped in sauce, and grilled multiple times to make it crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The salted chicken skewers are also delicious. Other skewers like chicken cartilage, beef tenderloin, and tail meat are tasty too. We also added more chicken skewers for 99 yen each, along with pork feet and chicken wings. In total, it cost 9,800 yen for 3 people.

(February 2020) Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, nearest to Hakata Station. On Saturday night, I went alone to a restaurant with both counter and tatami seating options. I ordered 5 pieces of salted chicken skin and 5 pieces of chicken with sauce. The salted chicken skin costs 109 yen per piece excluding tax. I took my time to decide on a drink. Yeah, I think the grilled chicken skin in Fukuoka is delicious. I like the atmosphere of this place more than other grilled chicken restaurants.

Fukuoka is known for its delicious yakitori, with "Torikawa" being a standout. The process of rolling and grilling the skewers multiple times, then dipping them in sauce, creates a flavorful and labor-intensive dish. The salt is tasty, but the sauce is the real star! The skin of the "Torikawa Daimin" is a personal favorite, and the pork trotters are melt-in-your-mouth. The pork belly is also top-notch! The vinegar-based cabbage salad is a perfect accompaniment. Unlike other places, Fukuoka's yakitori uses onions instead of leeks, which I prefer.

I came here looking for the famous Neji Neji tori kawa in Hakata. It's a bit of a walk from Hakata Station, but worth it for the tori kawa. The interior has mostly tatami seating with a few counter seats. I ordered both the tori kawa with sauce and with salt. The sauce was sweet and savory, with a great flavor. The Neji Neji tori kawa was chewy and light, you can eat endless amounts. The salt version was crispy on the outside and delicious. Both go well with beer, but I think the salt one pairs even better. Despite the effort put into making them, they only cost 100 yen each! So cheap! That's why everyone orders so many. This place may not be the originator of Neji Neji tori kawa, but it's delicious so it's all good. Their other yakitori items are also great value. After 9 PM, they limit orders of tori kawa to ensure there's enough for latecomers, so be aware. Thank you for the meal.
