After finishing shopping in Minami on my day off, I returned to Nankai Namba Station after 7:00 pm. Since we are currently under a state of emergency, restaurants close at 8:00 pm, so I didn't have time to sit down and have dinner. As I was thinking about heading home, I noticed this "Musubi Sushi" restaurant. I had heard of this unique "sushi in onigiri shape" restaurant before, but I had never tried it. I decided to buy some for dinner since I didn't feel like cooking at home.
About the restaurant, it is a new format under the "Sushiro" revolving sushi group, and this Nankai Namba store is the first branch. I didn't know that! This time, I opted for takeout, but there are also counter seats inside where you can dine in. The sushi for takeout is pre-made, but if you dine in, they make it fresh after you order.
I purchased five types of Musubi Sushi from the approximately 20 varieties available. They all looked like regular onigiri. Let's try them out!
[Natural Southern Bluefin Tuna Medium Fatty (220 yen)]
It's a good deal at 220 yen for the high-quality Minami Maguro. It's tender and has a nice amount of fat. There are plenty of diced medium fatty tuna inside, not just on top.
[Natural Southern Bluefin Tuna Lean (180 yen)]
Next, I tried the lean Minami Maguro. It has a chewy texture typical of lean cuts, with a strong soy sauce and sesame flavor. Definitely delicious!
[Soft-boiled Egg Yolk Soy Sauce Pickled (180 yen)]
When you pickle egg yolk in soy sauce, it becomes very rich and sticky. The intense flavor of the yolk is wonderful. I really liked this one!
[Salmon Roe (240 yen)]
There's plenty of salmon roe inside! It's plump and has a nice texture. A stable and delicious choice.
[Live-Caught Simmered Conger Eel Rolled Sushi (480 yen)]
The most expensive item in the store. The simmered eel is melt-in-your-mouth tender and rich. It's not mind-blowing, but it's worth the price.
In conclusion, I didn't have high expectations before eating since it's a cheap Sushiro-affiliated restaurant, but it turned out to be tastier than I thought. The size is satisfying, and the prices are around 200 yen, except for the eel. The quality of the ingredients is decent for the price. Lately, convenience stores sell slightly more expensive onigiri, but I prefer this one. Since I got takeout this time, the seaweed on the outside was a bit moist, but if you dine in, the seaweed might be crispy. Bon appétit!
