It's been a while since I bought salad, side dishes, and natto on the basement floor, so I decided to get rice here. I also got some fried chicken. White rice 200g, 3 pieces of fried chicken, purchased on the basement floor. Mille-feuille salad, zucchini with sesame dressing, simmered hijiki cooked with homemade dashi, small gold food natto, Itomonogatari domestic delicious Kakabeji, dressing to put on vegetables, sweet and spicy Japone-style flavor with green onions and onions, jasmine tea, Banadium natural water.

- Shop Atmosphere - Hello, everyone! It's Keinsuke. Today, I visited a rice ball specialty shop inside Hankyu Department Store. With dining out reduced due to the pandemic, I decided to at least enjoy a delicious meal through takeout. This shop prepares the rice balls from a showcase rather than made to order, which is a bit pricier compared to other rice ball shops probably due to being in a department store. They pack the rice balls and wrap them in paper. The rice balls were still warm to the touch even from the outside of the pack! - Beef Shigureni Rice Ball (265 yen) & Tuna Mayo Rice Ball (222 yen) - The rice balls were neatly shaped into triangles. The rice was on the firmer side rather than soft and fluffy. It might have gotten a bit harder over time, but I actually enjoy slightly chilled and firm rice balls. The beef shigureni rice ball had a sweet and savory flavor that paired well with the rice. I've been loving rice balls with meat in them lately. The tuna mayo rice ball looked beautiful. I was curious about how much filling was inside, but it went all the way to the bottom, so no ingredient deception here (laughs). They are a bit pricier, but definitely tastier than convenience store rice balls. If you happen to pass by the basement floor near the department store, why not treat yourself to these delicious rice balls at Tamano. It's been a while since I had onigiri here. I had salmon mayo tamagoyaki roll (287 yen), simmered egg (287 yen), tonkatsu with sauce (287 yen), clam rice (249 yen), shredded kelp (222 yen), red salmon (233 yen), and pickled plum (211 yen). Looking back at the prices, it's a bit on the expensive side for onigiri, but I guess it's because they use good rice and quality ingredients. The taste is still delicious as always, and the portion size is satisfying.

Kinsho's cage-raised eggs (purchased for 330 yen) and free-range eggs (purchased at Hankyu Department Store for 600 yen) were compared by making tamago kake gohan. The rice used was the usual one, and a retort porridge was also purchased. The basic nutritional composition was almost the same. There was a clear difference in color, with the free-range eggs having a lemon yellow hue. The cage-raised eggs were rich in flavor, while the free-range eggs were lighter. Although there was a significant difference in taste, ultimately it came down to personal preference and cooking method. However, there may be some differences in detailed components when comparing them.

Before the rain started, I bought some ingredients and decided to have a meal at home for the first time in a while. I found some eggs from a nearby university on the basement 2nd floor, so I thought about making tamagokake gohan (rice with raw egg) but I had some leftover packed rice at home, so I was a bit hesitant. I decided to get the rice from here. I also picked up some karaage (fried chicken) while I was there. I also found soy sauce for tamagokake gohan and a tomato salad on the basement 2nd floor. White rice 200g, 3 pieces of karaage.

Recently, there seems to be a rice ball boom, right? As a rice lover, I have been finding and eating them here and there, but I think the ones from Niigata Yunotani Kokoro-tei at Hankyu Umeda Main Store are consistently delicious. The rice is firm, and the fillings are plentiful, making for a satisfying rice ball. They offer around 10 varieties including seasonal options and classic choices, so I always have a hard time deciding. Today, I bought three flavored rice balls to take home! - Bamboo Shoot and Sakura Shrimp (308 yen): The seasonal bamboo shoot is tender, and the saltiness and flavor of the sakura shrimp are well balanced. It really makes you feel the spring season. - Burdock-rich Chicken Rice (254 yen): As you can see, it is packed with ingredients! Every bite has crunchy burdock, giving a luxurious feel. - Clam Mixed Rice (238 yen): Clams are also in season now, right? The gentle aroma of the clams and the green onions add a nice touch. I thought I made a slight mistake in my selection because I ended up choosing flavored rice balls, but they were all delicious in their own way, allowing me to experience the seasonal ingredients. Hankyu Umeda Main Store's food section is open only on weekdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Thank you for the meal! Recently, I have been coming to Osaka once a week. In between, I went out to Umeda and visited Hankyu Department Store and Hanshin Department Store. A friend recommended an event at both department stores, so I was torn between going or not going. If I didn't go, I could return home to Kyoto in the bright evening, but if I went, I would feel energized. In the end, I decided to go and it was worth it. I stopped by a rice ball shop on my way back and bought three to avoid being hungry for dinner when I got home. After visiting my mother, I drove three hours back to Kyoto. Before heading home, I grabbed some ramen to eat. When I got home, I was still hungry, so I was glad I bought the rice balls. They were delicious, with toppings like bonito flakes, cod roe, and tuna mayo on top of Niigata rice. Perfect with a hot roasted green tea.

Ojigiri at Hankyu Department Store basement! The prices are quite reasonable here. The ikura (salmon roe) is generously filled, blending well with the rice. The Uonuma Koshihikari rice is cooked just right. It may be basic, but there are various interesting options to choose from!

I bought some ingredients without a plan and felt like having rice, but I didn't feel like cooking it. Then I remembered this place. The rice here is like a bento, it's still good even when it's cold, but this time I heated it up in the microwave. It was delicious without any moisture issues. I also bought some fried chicken as a side.

I went to Niigata Yunotani Shintei at Hankyu Umeda Main Store for takeout. The store is located in the B1 floor basement of the Hankyu department store in Umeda. The basement of the Hankyu department store is always crowded! It can be a bit overwhelming with so many people (laughs). This is my third time purchasing from this store. The name of the store has the word "Niigata" in it!... It makes me feel a sense of familiarity (laughs). There were so many customers that I couldn't take a good picture of the interior of the store (;^ω^) The Tabelog score is 3.09 (at the time) which is lower than other onigiri places, and I have been curious about this for a while. But this Tabelog score is clearly wrong. The selection of onigiri in the showcase at this store is outstanding! Even though there are always customers lining up, the staff of about 6 people handle it well in this small store, so the turnover is fast. As a result, the onigiri always feels freshly made. While waiting in line for a bit, I decided on the types of onigiri to order. [Spicy Cod Roe] (260 yen) [Shrimp Tempura] (200 yen) [Salmon] (210 yen) [Salmon Roe] (235 yen) The onigiri is small, but it lives up to the expectation of using Koshihikari rice from Uonuma! Also, the popular onigiri filling from Niigata, "Salmon Roe," is excellent. There are very few places in Osaka where you can eat this. The taste of my hometown! I am grateful for that. When ordering onigiri, I always tend to choose similar types, so next time I want to try more different varieties. I wish it was a bit more affordable, but considering the quality of the ingredients at this location, I understand! After comparing different onigiri places, I realized that there are some with strange Tabelog scores, and it was a hard day full of onigiri delights! (laughs) Thank you for the meal ☆彡

After a long time, I had dinner at the deli on the basement floor of Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store. The rice was Koshihikari from Minami Uonuma, the seaweed was from Ariake, and the water was melted snow. There were quite a variety of options available. They also sell rice separately, which is convenient. I had a roll with oboro kombu, edamame, green shiso, plum, and shirasu.

At the underground floor of Umeda Hankyu department store, I wandered around looking for dinner side dishes and stumbled upon a popular stand selling onigiri (rice balls). Without checking the prices, I bought what I wanted to eat. The onigiri here have a lot of moisture and are not filled with air. The rice is not seasoned. - Salmon: Since the rice is not seasoned, it feels a bit lacking in flavor, but you can enjoy the taste of salmon. - Shirasu and takana (mustard greens): Also lightly flavored as the rice is not seasoned. The takana is also lightly seasoned, and you can savor the taste and texture of sesame seeds. - Oboro kombu (shredded kelp): The moistness of the shredded kelp and the delicious taste of kombu stand out. Highly recommended. It was the one I left for last in terms of appearance. As expected, the kombu is the star here, and it pairs really well with the soft texture of the rice. In a world where convenience stores offer onigiri with a certain airiness or crispy seaweed, or even onigirazu with a fluffy texture, the onigiri at this shop seems to stand out in a different way. The rice here is just moist enough without being sticky, making it quite unique. Koshihikari rice from Uonuma absorbs water easily, making it difficult to cook. As I write this review and read others, I notice the focus on the quality of each grain. I will definitely try buying it again. I'm sorry, but this time it didn't match my preferred cooking style.

In the showcase of the store, there are various rice balls lined up, such as tuna mayo, pickled Nozawana, umeboshi, crab tempura, simmered beef and egg, spicy cod roe, salmon and mayonnaise rolled omelette, bonito flakes, shiitake mushroom rice, burdock rice with sea bream, scallop rice... I chose the pickled Nozawana rice ball with umeboshi in the middle. The rice was moist and chewy, with a great combination of pickled Nozawana and umeboshi. Next time, I plan to try the bonito flakes and spicy cod roe.

I purchased office lunch at Hankyu Umeda's basement floor today. I got a tuna mayo and yakitara onigiri. Let's try them out! First, the yakitara onigiri has a good amount of filling and tastes delicious. It's not the type where you peel off a film like at convenience stores, but the rice and seaweed are both tasty. The satisfaction level of the taste is high. The tuna mayo onigiri also has lots of filling and a good balance with the mayonnaise. It's also quite delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! The prices are quite affordable for a department store basement, and the sizes are slightly small but I personally liked it.

This is located on the basement 1st floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store. It is about a 3-minute walk from Hankyu Umeda Station, in what is known as a department store basement with various shops. It is located in the middle of the floor, in a booth-style store. There is an eat-in area in the center of the floor, so you can eat what you buy right away. There are about 22 types in the showcase, including seasonal products and tempura rice balls. Among them, I bought "Mixed Chestnut Mushroom Rice 294 yen + Matsutake Mushroom Rice 292 yen" this time. The Matsutake Mushroom Rice is a rice ball with about half of it wrapped in seaweed. When you bring it close to your face to eat, the aroma of matsutake tickles your nose. The ingredients include matsutake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, konjac, carrots, and more. The triangular side is about 8cm, slightly smaller than a convenience store size. As it is mixed rice, the rice itself has flavor. The soy sauce flavor is mild and the seasoning is light, making it easy to eat. The Mixed Chestnut Mushroom Rice has small chestnuts visible, making it a rice ball that feels like autumn. It is not wrapped in seaweed, and the ingredients include chestnuts, shimeji mushrooms, konjac, carrots, and more. It has a subtly different elegant seasoning compared to the Matsutake Mushroom Rice, but the ingredients are similar. The size is also about 8cm on each side. It has a refined soy sauce flavor, making it an elegant rice ball. The rice is Koshihikari from Minami Uonuma, the seaweed is from the finest Ariake, and the water used is from the clear melting snow, showing attention to detail throughout. It feels like a slightly high-end rice ball, which is expected for a store in a department store basement.
