This is an izakaya located in the shopping street near JR Moji Port Station in Sakae-cho, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City. They accept credit card payments and have both regular seating on the first floor and private rooms on the second floor for small to large gatherings. They offer a course menu for 1500 yen for food and 2000 yen for all-you-can-drink. The food includes 2 types of sashimi, seaweed salad, chicken nuggets, 3 types of skewers, yakisoba, and more, providing a satisfying amount of delicious food. The drink menu even includes draft beer, making it a great value for the price.

I visited this restaurant in Kitakyushu while using the GoTo Travel campaign during my trip to Yamaguchi. I arrived around 11 pm and there were only about two groups of customers. I ordered a lemon sour and shortly after, it arrived along with a side dish of pickles, which I enjoyed. I then ordered Saga beef yukhoe and octopus sashimi. The octopus sashimi was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, with a rich flavor that intensified as I chewed. The Saga beef yukhoe was also amazing, especially when mixed with the egg yolk. After leisurely enjoying my meal, I left the restaurant. If you are looking for a late-night dining option, I highly recommend checking out this place!

This is a shop that I have been coming to with my father since I was in elementary school. I don't have many opportunities to go now that I am married, but I visit about once a year. My father probably comes once every two months - he's a regular customer and just mentioning his name is enough to be recognized. I feel that the shop is well-rated.
This time, I visited for my birthday party. In terms of price, it's not a particularly cheap shop, but it's not expensive either. If someone asks if there are any good izakayas in Moji Port, this shop would definitely be mentioned. The menu is extensive, and even when it's full on weekends, the service is relatively quick. It's a spacious and comfortable shop that I have been going to since I was little. It's usually easy to get in on weekdays, but reservations are essential on weekends. Even with a reservation at 7 pm, the shop was fully booked. The food is simply delicious! They have a live fish tank, so you can also enjoy special sashimi of the day. It's a shop loved by the locals. Personally, I wish they had all-you-can-drink options because I love to drink (laughs).
I visited again. My younger brother also comes here often, so he's almost a regular customer. This time, we ordered the hormone skewers, live sashimi, and grilled curry that I was curious about last time. The hormone skewers are incredibly delicious! They go well with beer! The grilled curry is slightly spicy, so it might be too much for young children to eat!

The retro feel of Moji Port is a charming area around JR Moji Port Station. The small town exudes a nostalgic atmosphere, making it a delightful and heartwarming place to visit. After an evening stroll, we decided to have dinner and drinks at the recommended bar "Ichiban Daiko Moji Honten" within the arcade, suggested by the hotel reception. While the website and food review sites mention it as a robatayaki (fireside cooking) restaurant, it now operates as a regular izakaya. The central space used to be a robatayaki area, reflecting its past as a robatayaki restaurant. The cozy interior features counter seats and box seats surrounding it. We, who have recently developed a liking for sake, naturally opted for Japanese sake. The appetizer, a simple salad with a rich sesame dressing, was delicious. Of course, we had to order the Fugu (blowfish) since we were in the hometown of Fugu. The Fugu, with its tightly packed and subtly flavored meat, was a delicacy unique to the region. We also tried the simmered Ara fish and fried tofu, which were both light and enjoyable. The assorted tempura skewers were a hit, and the fried burdock root had a crispy texture and a distinct flavor. We ended the meal with a surprisingly large rice ball, feeling satisfied and full after enjoying multiple rounds of sake and beer. Despite initially feeling hesitant due to the lively atmosphere caused by a tipsy customer at the neighboring table, we ended up having a great time chatting with the young manager, who turned out to be eight years younger than me. We discussed various topics about Moji and our first visit to Kyushu from Tochigi. It was a pleasant surprise to have such engaging conversations during our visit. I even promised to write a review of the restaurant on my blog and on food review sites, which I fulfilled. Looking forward to returning to Moji soon and visiting Ichiban Daiko again.

[2013.07.30] I was unsure of where to have dinner, but since we were in Moji Port, I was looking for a delicious restaurant. My colleague, who loves alcohol, suggested an izakaya. We asked a taxi driver for recommendations and he introduced us to this restaurant. It was a very cozy place. The fish was very delicious. However, the skewers were a bit weak. The highlights were the fatty "salmon" and "scallop" sashimi platter, as well as the tender "grilled squid".

A nostalgic old-fashioned robatayaki restaurant located in a once thriving old port town shopping street with no sense of luxury. The retro storefront evokes memories of the Showa era. Middle-aged and elderly customers who used to drink heavily at cheap liquor stores in their younger days will surely enjoy the ambiance, food, and drinks at this place. Being located in a port town, the seafood is delicious. The sashimi and grilled dishes are also quite tasty if you choose wisely. Sometimes the neighboring customers can get too rowdy, but that is also part of the charm of this place. You may also spot a lone foreign sailor enjoying a drink, adding to the atmosphere of the declining port town. The selection of sake and shochu is decent, and the cost performance is high. I think this izakaya is recommended for those with a nostalgic taste.

Every year in November, the Moji Port Bar is held. The advance ticket is a set of 5 tickets for 3000 yen, and it is an event where you can enjoy food and drinks at various participating stores. I usually go to just one bar. I think you can challenge yourself to try different shops at 1 bar (600 yen), and you can see the efforts of the shop owners. Moji Port has an old izakaya called Ichiban Daiko. It used to be the place for young people to drink in Moji Port (laughs) It's been a looong time since I last visited. In that sense, the bar is fun. Now, at this bar, I had a plate of 3 small dishes and a sweet potato shochu. From left to right, there's blowfish skin with ponzu sauce, daikon radish with meat miso, and chicken cartilage with plum cucumber. All the favorites of a drinker (laughs) In terms of snacks that go well with alcohol, this might be the best in this bar. Especially, the chicken cartilage with plum cucumber had a nice crunchy texture and was delicious. I completely forgot about the interior because it had been so long since I last visited, but there are many counter seats and tatami seats, so it seems like it will be useful for year-end parties. Thank you for the meal! Moji Port Bar http://mojiko-bar.com/
