I want to eat meat to prevent summer fatigue! Domestic loin and assorted summer meals for 1,680 yen. Cabbage, rice, and miso soup are free refills. The cabbage and dressing are so delicious that I tend to ask for more, but if you ask for more, you can't finish it all (。´_`。). The fried conger eel and sea bream with plum sauce are refreshing. The staff who serve are calm and polite, making it a place where you can enjoy a leisurely meal in Nannan Town's dining establishments.

The tonkatsu chain restaurant in the basement of Namba CITY has increased its prices by about 200 yen. Every month on the 10th is double points stamp day. You can get free refills of rice, cabbage, and miso soup. Namba CITY attracts many foreign customers. They also offer weekday lunch menus. When I ordered a small portion of rice, they gave me a regular portion instead.

I was really hungry, so I decided to have a hearty tonkatsu lunch today! Since it was already past noon, one of the lunch specials was sold out, so I went with the tonkatsu and shrimp fry lunch special, with an added crab cream croquette on top. I generously topped it with sauce and mustard, and it was absolutely delicious. I couldn't stop eating the rice and cabbage, and ended up eating so much that I couldn't move in the afternoon. It was so tasty! I will definitely go back again. Thank you for the meal!

When I want to eat tonkatsu alone, I usually come here. It's a local chain restaurant, but it's familiar to people from Kansai. It's that restaurant from the TV commercial, right? I was surprised that the pork cutlet was juicier than when I had it before! The large shrimp fry was also delicious. When you order alcohol here, they bring you pickles and small dishes first. It's nice that they are so thoughtful.

This is a restaurant in Namba Nannan. It was my first visit. I was seated at a table even though I was alone. I ordered a bottled beer first. They brought edamame and burdock salad with the beer. Maybe it comes with the beer. Then I ordered the deep-fried fugu set meal from the menu. It took a little while for the fugu to be ready while I was drinking beer. The fugu was soft and delicious. It came with rice and miso soup. You can have as much rice as you want. The fugu was more like several thin slices of meat deep-fried together rather than a single piece of meat. Cabbage was also served with a choice of dressing, which was delicious.

I'm in Osaka. In Namba, there is a shop called NANNAN. I was looking for a lunch spot and decided to go to Namba NANNAN. It had been a while since I last visited this area, and I was quite surprised to see that some shops had closed or changed. I used to think of Tonkatsu at Butch Haru, but it was no longer there, so I went to this place instead. When I entered the shop, a veteran female staff member greeted me with incredible agility and ninja-like movements, providing excellent service. I ordered the recommended domestic pork cutlet and shrimp fry lunch. Soon, small side dishes, pickles, and sauce were served, followed by a plate of cabbage, a decent-sized pork cutlet, and a large shrimp fry with rice and miso soup. I tried the miso soup first, which had plenty of ingredients and tasted quite delicious. The freshly cooked rice was also very tasty. The shrimp fry and pork cutlet were average. I usually prefer tenderloin over loin, so the loin cutlet felt a bit heavy for me. The quick and efficient service for cabbage and rice refills left a good impression. I get quite disappointed if I have to wait for rice, but they were quick to refill it, which made me happy. They even added purple cabbage and daikon radish to the cabbage refill, showing attention to detail. It seems that being an established restaurant really boosts their overall performance.

In 1965, "Tonkatsu KYK" opened its first store in the underground shopping area "Sannomiya" in Kobe, and has been the top tonkatsu chain in Kansai for 57 years. Their impactful TV commercials are still remembered by people in Kansai, similar to the "Glasshato" commercials. Recently, their new concept "Curry House San Marco" has been gaining popularity. We ordered the "Mixed Tenderloin and Loin Tonkatsu Set" for 1410 yen. The meal came with potato salad, pickles, and unlimited rice and miso soup refills. The tonkatsu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a light and fluffy coating. The loin had a perfect balance of fat and meat, while the sauce had a slightly tangy flavor. Overall, the meal was satisfying and we left feeling happy. It's clear that tonkatsu chain restaurants like KYK set a high standard for quality and commitment. We had a wonderful dining experience.

For lunch on this day, I visited the restaurant "KYK Nanba-ten". KYK is well known in Kansai for their tonkatsu. The restaurant is located in Nannan Town, an underground shopping area directly connected to Namba Station on the Osaka Metro. I ordered the "Service Lunch 970 yen", a weekday limited quantity lunch menu. It included black pork minced cutlet, shrimp fry, tenderloin tonkatsu, unlimited rice refills, cabbage, and miso soup. Everything was delicious, and I ended up getting seconds for everything that was refillable. I even had seconds of the cabbage twice! Thank you for the meal!

Today, I visited "KYK" in Namba. It was a rainy afternoon, so I decided to go to this restaurant in the underground shopping area instead of a farther one. I ordered the lunch set which includes domestic pork cutlet and shrimp fry for 970 yen. The quality of the food was exceptional. The pork cutlet had a hint of pink and was tender with a sweet fatty part and a flavorful lean part. The shrimp fry was also excellent, with no fishy smell and a firm, crispy texture. It was delicious. Overall, I was impressed by the food at "KYK" and look forward to visiting again.

When I searched for a tonkatsu restaurant with a connection to Kansai that I could visit from a business hotel in Shinsaibashi, I found Tonkatsu KYK Nanba. The first store was opened in Kobe's Sannomiya underground shopping street in 1965. I decided to have a drink and saw "Lime Sour" on the menu. While the trend nowadays is fresh lime with lots of pulp, I personally prefer the yellow-green type made with lime concentrate mixed with sour. When I asked the staff, they confirmed that it was the yellow-green type, so I ordered it right away. It's rare to find this type of lime sour nowadays, so I was a bit impressed. I looked up what "KYK" means and found out it stands for "Keep You Kindly." Although I was expecting a Kansai twist, the drink was still enjoyable. The tonkatsu was faithful to the basics, with a serious and well-balanced finish. The pork was not too fatty and had a crispy texture. The sauce had a unique flavor with a slightly tangy taste typical of KYK. The refreshing lime sour unexpectedly paired well with the tonkatsu, making the meal enjoyable. Overall, it's a casual place perfect for everyday dining.

◎Osaka Minami Namba Lunch Tonkatsu◎ [2020 Memorable Dining Spot] I headed to "Tonkatsu KYK Namba" located in the underground shopping area NAMBA nannan, right near Namba Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, to have lunch. This is an old-established tonkatsu chain restaurant that has been around for a long time! If you are from Osaka, or even Kansai, you might have the slogan from their TV commercial etched in your memory♪ On this day, we shared a set of tonkatsu from the lunch menu and enjoyed a satisfying meal. Even though it had been a while since my last visit, the delicious memory of their tonkatsu was still vivid in my mind and on my taste buds! KYK is a convenient and reasonably priced place right by the station where you can enjoy tasty tonkatsu and set meals with peace of mind! If you're from Kansai, you'll surely know the KYK commercials. I was craving tonkatsu and remembered the KYK CM, so I decided to go eat. I visited the KYK Nanba branch near Nankai Namba Station. The logo with a pig in the word "tonkatsu" is quite familiar thanks to the commercials. This time, I ordered the thick-cut loin tonkatsu set. The 200g thick-cut portion had a satisfying volume. The pork inside was moist and fried perfectly, with a delicious meaty juice. Of course, being KYK, you can have unlimited refills of rice, miso soup, and salad. I left feeling full. With affordable prices for tasty tonkatsu, I always end up at KYK when I can't decide what to eat. I definitely want to go back when I crave tonkatsu again.

Tonkatsu restaurant KYK in Namba CITY. It is located in a place where many restaurants are lined up. The tonkatsu itself is delicious, and it's nice that you can have unlimited refills of rice, cabbage, and miso soup. However, the taste of the sauce is much lower compared to Saboten, which handles a similar menu.

On May 17th, the World Hypertension Day, around 10:30 am, I visited the restaurant alone after a bumpy train ride for an early lunch. I ordered the "Reiwa Celebration Ume Oroshi Set (200g) for 1,680 yen tax included. The dish had many plates, but it was a bit messy. By the way, I learned that tonkatsu is popular among foreigners, despite being unexpectedly expensive. Anyway, as expected from the long-established KYK restaurant, the meal was delicious as always. I also tried the clam and burdock mixed rice as an extra for 150 yen tax included. It was appetizing with the clam broth and burdock aroma. Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by before going to Takashimaya. It's located in Nannan Town in the basement, the well-known KYK. Since it was the end of the year, there were more people than usual. I also had to wait. While waiting, I was given a menu to order in advance. I chose the menu where you can enjoy both loin and fillet for 1380 yen. First, a tray with kimpira, pickles, and tea arrived. Then the main dish arrived, shredded cabbage, rice, and miso soup. You can choose between two dressings for the cabbage, shiso and sesame. There is only one tonkatsu sauce on the table, but they can provide various others if you ask. I saw ponzu and gochujang written on the menu as well. The fillet was rolled and very tender and delicious. The loin had a good balance of fat and lean meat, and it was tender too. When I asked for a refill of cabbage, I was surprised to find out that I could choose from cabbage, daikon radish, or corn. This was unexpected because initially, only cabbage was served. Overall, it's a well-balanced set meal!
