I wanted to go to a restaurant, but was turned away from nearly 10 places that were fully booked, which left me feeling disappointed. However, I didn't give up and continued searching until I found a place that seemed expensive but I was sure it wouldn't disappoint based on the reviews. When I called to make a reservation, the staff was kind and helpful, leaving me with a great impression and high expectations. The restaurant had only counter seating with about 6-7 chairs. It quickly filled up with 2 groups of customers ahead of me. The place felt clean, and the staff's smiles and service were lovely, easing any tension and building up my excitement to the max. Their genuine smiles were truly heartwarming. It's so soothing to experience this kind of hospitality. Lately, I've been enjoying solo drinking outings, often popping up around Kyoto Station, Higashifushimi, and the local area (laughs). It's been a while since I visited a place like this. As usual, I didn't take any photos, but there are plenty of reviews online for you to check out. The Negi-Nuta with plenty of shrimp, chicken, and octopus was delicious. The grilled Unagi (eel) was rich and flavorful due to its freshness. The Zuwai crab was incredibly tasty with its generous amount of meat. The crab gratin made with crab miso was delicious. The Abalone with butter was a favorite of mine, tender and full of flavor. The grilled Alfonsino was carefully cooked, offering a delightful sweetness and aroma. The Uni (sea urchin) dish was rich and tasty, and the grilled Anago (conger eel) was perfectly seasoned with a deep and flavorful taste. The red miso soup with seasonal vegetables was delicious. The sushi included seared fatty tuna, seared chicken, ikura gunkan (salmon roe), tamago (egg), and gobou (burdock root) rolls. For drinks, we had 2 bottles of beer, 2 draft beers, 2 plain shochu highballs, 4 shochu highballs with lemon and sudachi, 2 glasses of whiskey (Yochi and Taketsuru on the rocks), and 3 cups of sake from Yamagata and Fukui. You can order sushi by the piece, and they will try to accommodate your requests as much as possible. When I asked if they could sear the sushi, they gladly did it with a smile. The sake at 600 yen per cup is quite affordable. The total bill for two people was 25,000 yen, with most of the cost coming from my companion's alcohol consumption (laughs). I am currently taking medication to maintain my health, so I only had one shochu highball and a small cup of sake. I don't like sweet drinks, so when I asked if they could make it less sweet, they kindly offered to let me taste it first. I was truly delighted by this gesture. They offer all-day service, so you can drink from daytime and order the same menu items. I would love to come back for another solo drinking session. It was an incredibly satisfying experience, just like the memorable meals at Nanaji and Katsura. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
