When you go to Hakata, I highly recommend the izakaya "Bijin Izakaya Tonton." It's a bit far from Hakata Station, but the cost performance is outstanding! If you go with 4 people, you get a free 5-gou bottle of Kuro Kirishima shochu as a service! It's amazing! Try the sesame mackerel, vinegar motsu (offal), motsu stew, and other dishes, then finish with motsu nabe (offal hot pot) and champon noodles. Even if you add half a bottle of Kuro Kirishima, it's still around 2,000 yen per person. The taste is excellent, and the staff, being beautiful, are top-notch. You should definitely go!

Tonbe is a good restaurant with great cost performance. They offer a variety of dishes such as sashimi, chicken sashimi, whale appetizers, fried foods, grilled dishes, noodles, and rice dishes. They also have a selection of seasonal appetizers to choose from as a starter. The chicken tataki is freshly pounded and slightly warm. Thank you for the meal.

It is located a little away from Hakata Station, but it is always bustling with over 70% of customers whenever you go. They offer a sashimi assortment with a variety of fish, including whale. We ordered various dishes, but I was so hungry and focused on eating that I completely forgot to take photos (lol). Also, bottled beer and a 4-cup bottle of Kuro Kirishima shochu are cheap! It was a long time since my last visit! I entered around 9:30 pm and the place was about 70% full. I couldn't spot the landlady that was mentioned in the comments section from my last review... Maybe it was late? I sat at the counter and decided to try some new dishes this time... - Cold tofu as a starter - Kimchi (250 yen) - Chicken skin gyoza - Bottled beer (400 yen) I started with a light lineup to see how it goes! The kimchi had a sour taste with mild spiciness in a Japanese style! The chicken skin gyoza came in a set of 5 pieces with salad, very cost-effective! The chewy chicken skin, crispy coating, and vegetable filling... I dipped it in ponzu sauce with Japanese mustard and took a bite... Mmm, delicious! I noticed a newspaper article on the wall from my corner seat... This place will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year...! I saw a lovely photo of Yoko Mama with a beautiful smile... It has a traditional old-fashioned izakaya look both outside and inside. The place is a popular izakaya. There are seats at the counter and a raised tatami area, with a capacity of about 30 people. Visited with 4 people. There were 4 types of otoshi (appetizers) available, so we could choose our favorite. Among the otoshi, the simmered dish was particularly to my liking. It looks light, but the flavors are well infused, even in the taro, and it's delicious. The menu is very extensive, so it's hard to decide. Most dishes are around one coin or less. So, I decided to visit another nearby restaurant that caught my attention! It was a beautiful izakaya...the word itself was very appealing, so I entered the establishment! The interior had a counter with about 12 seats and 5 table seats, and it was quite spacious. The place was bustling with businessmen and beautiful women! I looked through the menu and ordered the following items: - Appetizer: Sand Liver with Ponzu Sauce - Beef Tendon Stew (350 yen) - Grilled Yam on Hot Plate (500 yen) - Bottled Beer (350 yen) I was surprised by how cheap the bottled beer was! It was not only cheap but also a large bottle, which I love! For beer lovers, this alone makes the restaurant a great place to be! I started with the Beef Tendon Stew. It was a rare type in Fukuoka, cooked with miso. It was rich and thick but not overly so, with a good flavor. The meat included crunchy tendons and tender beef, offering a variety of textures. The thinly sliced garlic and ginger, along with the spiciness of the chili pepper, warmed me up from the inside out! I could imagine it being incredibly delicious over rice... Next, I enjoyed the Grilled Yam on Hot Plate, which was crispy and fluffy. The sauce was light, with just mayonnaise for seasoning. The yam had a strong dashi flavor, adding to its great taste! I wanted something more hearty, so I ordered an additional dish: - Garlic-fried Chicken (600 yen) - Bottled Beer (350 yen) The staff informed me that the portion was large when I ordered, so I opted for half the usual amount of 8 pieces. Even with just 4 pieces, each was large and the chicken was tender! The hint of garlic and gentle seasoning made it very enjoyable... The hot chicken paired perfectly with the cold beer...it was amazing... The bottled beer was cheap, the food was delicious, and the service was great! Surprisingly, the total bill was less than 2,500 yen... This was my first visit, but I was already in love with the place! The Beautiful Izakaya - Fukuoka, Hakata - On this day, after finishing setting up for an event, the client's president kindly took us to our favorite izakaya, Ton Ton. This was our second stop. It was great that we could order Shiranami shochu with a 3:1 ratio. We enjoyed some snacks and had some shochu. We ended up drinking with some people who started talking to us, so I don't remember how much we drank, but it was fun and delicious. It's nice that you can easily drink with other customers in Kyushu.

There are no disappointments with anything you eat here. Especially the chicken tataki and chicken wings are delicious! There aren't many places around Hakata Station South where you can casually drink alone.

The first time we visited, the restaurant was fully booked except for our reserved table, even though the website said they opened at 6:00 pm. It seems like they might need to open a bit earlier. The restaurant has 4 sunken tables, a counter, and is not very spacious, but it was bustling with customers due to the shortened operating hours. We ordered two plates of each dish: sashimi, chicken skin gyoza (a popular choice), potato salad, yakisoba (a bit sweet), pickled daikon, fried chicken cartilage, crispy and flavorful fried chicken, delicious plain yam grill, meat and tofu stew with a lot of broth, fried mochi, french fries, and cold noodles (slightly bland for some). However, two dishes from our initial order never arrived, and when we asked about them after an hour, we were informed that they were no longer available. The food also took quite a while to be served, which was understandable given the full house. The home-cooked flavors made us feel like we were back at our own homes. The yam grill served on a plate instead of a hot plate was a nice touch. The chicken skin gyoza is a must-try dish. The potato salad tasted just like mom's cooking. It's my favorite restaurant. Everything I eat is delicious. It's cheap. The staff are skilled and always friendly. The tacos are also delicious and have a good portion size.

On Thursday, July 27th, I returned to my usual hotel in Fukuoka but realized it was getting late, so I booked a hotel in Hakata instead. I found a restaurant called "Ton Ton" in front of the Route Inn through Tabelog and saw that it was really cheap! I ordered a draft beer and then checked the menu. Oh, I just realized that the bottled beer here, even though it's a large bottle, is cheaper than the draft beer, but oh well. I ordered the sesame mackerel, which is called "ryukyu" in Oita. It was delicious! The beer went down smoothly, so I decided to check the menu for sweet potato shochu. I was surprised to see that a one-third bottle of shochu was 450 yen, and a half bottle was 650 yen. Unbelievable. I decided to keep the half bottle for 1,300 yen. I can't drink that much, so I ordered a black Kirishima shochu in a one-third bottle. For food, I ordered salt-grilled local chicken, kibinago tempura, and chijimi, all of which were delicious. I wanted to order one more dish since I had a little shochu left, but I resisted the temptation and slowly finished my drink. The total came to 3,600 yen. Not bad for all that food and drink without keeping a bottle.

The sashimi was fresh and delicious, although the price varied depending on the daily catch. The beef tendon stew was flavorful, but I wish there was a bit more meat in it. My child requested the stamina yakitori, which was decent but lacked the sizzle on the grill. The diced steak was also tasty, but could have used more sizzle. We had two beers, an oolong tea, and white rice for the child, and the bill came out to a little over 4600 yen. Overall, it was cheap and delicious, even though there weren't any beautiful people as the name suggests. Today, after finishing work, I decided to take a different route home than usual. I saw a sign for a bar and was drawn in by the offer of "Bottled beer for 350 yen." I entered the empty bar and ordered a bottle of beer. To my surprise, it was a large bottle instead of the small one I expected. I also received a complimentary dish to choose from a selection. I chose the beef tendon stew, which was tender and flavorful. I also ordered some other dishes like simmered leeks and stir-fried sandfish with leeks, which were delicious. I also had some shochu for a reasonable price. The bar had a nostalgic atmosphere with enka music playing and mostly elderly customers. The name "Beauty Izakaya" originated from the fact that all the staff were women when it first opened. Overall, it was a great experience with affordable prices. I will definitely visit again. A great izakaya perfect for a second party that stays open until morning. It's a bit far from Hakata Station, but only about a 5-minute taxi ride away. The area around Hakata Station tends to close earlier compared to Nakasu, so it's a good option when you don't feel like going all the way to Nakasu after the first party in Hakata. When you enter the restaurant, there are counter seats on the left and tatami rooms on the right, giving off a nostalgic Showa-era vibe that is quite comforting. The highly recommended menu item here is the large and round satsuma-age (deep-fried fish cake). It's a must-try! Personally, I also love the vinegar-marinated horse mackerel. You can eat the whole fish, bones and all! I always feel disappointed when they don't have it. They also offer a variety of hot pots, making it a great place to visit during the cold season.
