Before starting Tabelog, I used to visit this restaurant often. It was recommended to me by a colleague over 15 years ago. I was looking forward to my visit after a long time. Our conversations at the restaurant were always lively, mostly about work, so I had a good impression of the place, but it didn't leave a deep impact on me. This time, visiting alone, I savored the meal more than before. As I write this review now, quite some time has passed, and I have visited many other restaurants, so my memory is quite faint, but I will write down what I remember. I usually ordered a dish with tempura for around 2000 yen, but this time I opted for something lighter as I planned to have a course meal in the evening. I ordered the reasonably priced "soba meal" on the far right side of the menu. (1) Soba Tea had a strong taste, hard to describe, but it made me think, "Was this place always this impressive?" I quietly exclaimed to myself, "Delicious!" The taste reminded me of the shell of soba seeds, although I have never eaten or drunk it before. (2) Salted Tofu was also very good. The natural taste of tofu was strong, and the texture was soft, reminiscent of a delicate Bavarian cream. I realized the role of salt in bringing out the flavor of tofu. However, the green onions on top were too strong and overpowered the tofu, so I felt they were unnecessary. (3) Fried Soba was also delicious. It reminded me of eating Baby Star Ramen as a child. It had a natural, fragrant taste without any seasoning. Although it also had enoki mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms, I felt they should have been served separately. (4) Soba Broth had a base flavor of bonito and soy sauce, slightly strong. (5) Soba The soba noodles were slightly firm, which I liked. They had a distinct soba flavor, not overpowering, and were easy to eat. They also had a fresh quality and a good texture. By the way, I plan to visit "Soba Restaurant Nicola" in December, but I remember that their soba had no flavor at all. (6) Sweet Potato Rice was average. The rice was sticky due to being glutinous rice. (7) Pickles were simple, with carrots and cucumbers, not of high quality. (8) Soba Broth was easy to drink and had a comforting warmth that spread throughout my body, which was pleasant. Taste is important, but ease of eating and feeling light after a meal are also crucial factors, I believe. This well-balanced meal cost a total of 1100 yen, and I found it more satisfying than the 100 restaurants in Tokyo's Kameari area. If this restaurant were closer, I would visit occasionally. Thank you for the delicious lunch. Yesterday evening at "Western Restaurant Suzuki" and today at "Minakawa," I was satisfied consecutively. I have only visited for lunch before, but I think it would be nice to come for dinner as well. The current Tabelog rating is 3.43 with only 28 reviews, and no recent reviews, but personally, I don't think the restaurant deserves such a rating. If it were located in central Kyoto, I feel it would be more bustling. (When I visited the restaurant next to "Gonbei" in Kyoto, there was a long line in front of Gonbei's restaurant. It was featured on TV.) In any case, thank you for the wonderful meal!
