2021: Revisited "Furuichi-an" again♪ Once again, I didn't have much time for lunch and didn't feel like eating anything heavy, so I opted for a mini size set at my favorite "Furuichi-an"! The mini set costs 410 yen including tax and comes with 3 rolled sushi and 3 boxed sushi. The boxed sushi includes my favorites like conger eel, deep-fried shrimp, and thick grilled sushi, all packed with delicious rice! The portion size is just right, unlike the larger sets which can be too much. Of course, the rolled sushi is delicious with its nostalgic taste!

I love the traditional taste of sushi at Furichi-an! The rolled sushi is delicious, but the pressed sushi is exquisite. I had a celebration, so I bought a sushi platter. The vinegar seasoning is just right, and they use good quality rice packed tightly. The seaweed is crispy and fragrant. The Osaka pressed sushi is amazing! The battera is top-notch, with tender eel and fresh shrimp. And most importantly, it looks beautiful. There was also vinegared rice sushi, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

When I went to Q's Mall, I saw a poster saying that the food court at Ito Yokado had been renovated. When I checked it out, it had indeed changed a lot. Since it was newly opened, there were lines everywhere. I decided to get takeout here. The food was reliably delicious.

Abeno Q's Mall is directly connected to Abeno Station on the municipal subway Tanimachi Line. The south side of the mall, from the basement 1st floor to the 2nd floor, is occupied by Ito Yokado, with the basement 1st floor dedicated to a food sales area. Outside the food sales area's register, there is a small food court and several delicatessen tenants of Ito Yokado. I decided to look for a late-night snack to enjoy in the office, and opted to purchase something from "Koichi-an," a nationwide chain known for sushi. Koichi-an, based in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, has branches across Japan, and is part of the same group as the famous tofu and yuba restaurant "Umenohana." At the Abeno IY store, they not only sell sushi but also offer delicious steaming hot rice balls, although I had to pass on them this time due to the long wait. I ended up buying the "Naniwa Sushi Assortment" (842 yen). Opening the box revealed beautifully arranged pressed sushi, including shrimp, cured mackerel, simmered shrimp, cured sea bream, thick rolled omelette, grilled conger eel, salmon, shredded kelp, sweet vinegar daikon radish, and pickled mustard greens. The visual presentation is reminiscent of a "two-inch-six-minute kaiseki" dish. The mackerel had a thin slice but a rich flavor throughout, while the conger eel was fragrant and delicious with a slightly sweet touch. The sushi rice had a strong vinegar finish, creating a clean and linear taste. It's a bit lacking in the umami of the kelp, but it would be appealing to those who prefer a refreshing taste. I wonder how they managed to pack these sushi pieces so perfectly in this square box without them getting deformed... It's quite a feat. With Edomae sushi becoming more popular, it's nice to see a Kyushu-based restaurant showcasing Osaka-style sushi, and I look forward to purchasing from them again in the future.

[January 2016] Tsunukko & Chibitsunu here! For dinner today, we bought sushi from "Koichian," a take-out sushi, onigiri, and rice ball specialty store located on the basement floor of Ito Yokado. We got the "Dairy Sushi - Scallop, Crab, Salmon Roe" for 939 yen. It was topped with scallop, crab, salmon roe, and shredded egg on sushi rice, making it a luxurious sushi. It was delicious. By the way, the miso soup (with tofu and seaweed) and spinach with sesame dressing were homemade♪ [December 2015] Tsunukko & Chibitsunu here! For lunch today, we bought sushi from "Koichian" at the Ito Yokado basement food section. We got a set of chirashi sushi and nigiri. The chirashi sushi had a little salmon roe on top, with tuna, salmon, tamagoyaki, and cucumber beautifully arranged. The nigiri included shrimp, crab meat, and scallop. There were also three small rolls (cucumber, pickled radish, gourd), offering a variety of flavors in one set! [July 2015] After having an Ice de Lion from Mister Donut at the food court, we bought the "Dairy Sushi - Crab, Salmon, Salmon Roe" for 842 yen from "Koichian" inside Ito Yokado. "Koichian" is a take-out sushi, onigiri, and rice ball specialty store where we sometimes get our dinner. The chirashi sushi looked so delicious, so we bought it. It had salmon roe, crab meat, salmon, and shredded egg, very luxurious! Sushi is perfect for when you don't have much of an appetite on a hot day. The onigiri and rice balls are also delicious!! ************************ Koichian Abeno IY Store 1-6-1 Abenosuji, Abeno-ku, Osaka City Abeno Q's Mall Ito Yokado B1F 06-6636-5101 Business Hours: 10:00-22:00 Closed on: Follows Ito Yokado's schedule

My mother went shopping at Abeno Ito Yokado and brought back a bento box from Furuiichi-an for dinner. She really likes the bento boxes from this shop and has bought them several times before. The rice balls are especially delicious! There are different types of rice balls included in the bento box, but today's box had rice balls with side dishes. The side dishes have a homely taste, and the rice balls are chewy and very tasty. When my mother wants to take it easy on cooking, she seems to buy bento boxes from this shop (laughs).

This is a takeout specialty store for sushi, bento, and rice balls. You pay at the Ito Yokado register. I had the rice ball bento (grilled mackerel and fried chicken). It included chestnut rice ball, mixed rice ball, seafood spring roll, grilled mackerel, chicken karaage with yuba, kinpira burdock, yuba mixed simmer (fried tofu, konjac, carrots, etc.), snap peas, pickled daikon, and more. It seems like a well-balanced bento in terms of nutrition. Thank you for the meal. A year-end party at a friend's house. Everyone brought different things this day. Here are two types of inari sushi and rolled sushi that my friend bought. I have had them a few times, but the inari sushi is easy to eat and delicious. It often appears at our gatherings due to its convenience and taste. I have eaten it many times, but I have never bought it myself, so next time, I might buy it for my sons. I saw a review of a boxed sushi set called the Naniwa set by someone else, and it looked delicious, so I want to try it next time.
