It's a restaurant in Abeno. It's located along the Shin-Naniwa Street, a bit underground so it might be a little hard to find. This okonomiyaki restaurant has been around for quite a while. I chose the okonomiyaki set meal. The okonomiyaki has a traditional flavor without any special twists, just like a regular local okonomiyaki restaurant. It's simply delicious! Perhaps due to the impact of the pandemic, the owner is running the place alone. Nevertheless, it's nice that they never forget to be friendly. Definitely recommended!

Today I had lunch at Awaza again. I visited Okonomiyaki Jin for lunch. I ordered the yakisoba set and it arrived in about 5 minutes. The set included yakisoba, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The yakisoba noodles were thick and the sauce was sweet. I sprinkled bonito flakes and shichimi chili pepper on top. It was delicious. The rice portion was small, but with the carb set, I was satisfied. I found another good restaurant today.

After work, I stopped by a new dumpling restaurant along the Naniwa Street. It was crowded on a weekday around 6 pm, so I couldn't get in. There were no other customers at this restaurant, so I ordered a set menu with a draft beer to cheers. The set included edamame, kimchi, tonpei, suji salt, pork balls, and yakisoba. We finished the meal in about an hour. Thank you for the feast!

Awa-za ◇ Enjoying a drink at an okonomiyaki restaurant ◇ [1-chome, Nishiku, Enokojima] Awa-za Station, located about 3 minutes north on Shinnaniwa Street, on the semi-basement floor of an apartment, you will find "Okonomiyaki Jin" where you can stop by for a casual drink after work on weekdays. Going down the stairs, on the left side is the okonomiyaki restaurant, and on the right side are two izakayas with the same name. Drawn by the big signboard of beer and okonomiyaki, we opened the door on the left. There were no other customers. We ordered the "Otsukaresama Set" (1500 yen) which includes: ◆ draft beer + edamame + kimchi + pork suji + pork balls ◆ draft beer + edamame + kimchi + pork okonomiyaki + yakisoba. A very cost-effective menu, so each of us ordered. Cheers with draft beer to start. We also ordered: ◆ macaroni salad ◆ chilled tomato ■ MEGA highball ■ azuki shochu on the rocks x2. A nostalgic okonomiyaki restaurant with a Showa era atmosphere. The "Otsukaresama Set" was satisfying enough. Thank you for the delicious meal.———————————————————————We shouldn't think about becoming happyIf I could share the hardships with the woman I loveThen even such a modest life would surely not be badDreams fall apart, summer passes, each has their own autumn…♫ (Each Has Their Own Autumn / 1980)

The hotel was nearby so we visited at night. I ordered the Buta Tamago (pork and egg) large serving (860 yen). It was a pretty big portion because it was a large serving, and since all three of us ordered the large serving, the teppan (iron griddle) was completely full. I still had work afterwards so I couldn't drink beer, but I still felt like having some. Thank you for the meal.

On a holiday evening... my favorite flour-based restaurant closed down and I have been suffering from a shortage of flour-based dishes lately. "Okonomiyaki Jin" is a nearby but somewhat hidden restaurant due to being semi-basement style. I used to just pass by this place, but unable to resist my flour-based dish craving, I finally decided to go in! It turns out that "Izakaya Jin" and "Okonomiyaki Jin" are affiliated businesses connected through a hole in the wall and run by about three people. We started with a toast with beer! Tofu Caesar salad - ¥490, it's a new combination of tofu and Caesar dressing, quite tasty! Grilled salted fish - ¥490, a classic izakaya dish with lots of vegetables, which was pleasing. German potato cheese - ¥620, a perfect combination of potatoes and cheese, the gooey cheese was fantastic! Pork yakisoba (large) - ¥730, slightly soft noodles with a punchy sauce, quite satisfying. Okonomiyaki mix - ¥1380, fluffy and full of ingredients, could have used a bit more sauce, but very reasonably priced! If this place was closer, I would definitely come back for more flour-based dishes. Thank you for the meal!

I went to work at a company in Awaza this Saturday as well. On the way back, we had our usual meal at an okonomiyaki restaurant. Today's meal gathering was with a small group of 6 people.
There are many ramen shops around Awaza, but it's rare to see okonomiyaki restaurants. The table had a large iron plate where the okonomiyaki was cooked. When the okonomiyaki arrived, it smelled delicious with the sauce. It's been a while since I've had okonomiyaki!
We also ordered yakisoba. The yakisoba being cooked right in front of us on the iron plate really stimulates the appetite. It was delicious with plenty of cabbage and pickled ginger. I wonder what this menu item was called? It was a slightly unusual dish with tofu wrapped in egg, but it was quite tasty.
We also had the mixed okonomiyaki with shrimp, squid, pork, and various other ingredients. It was fluffy and delicious. The beer went down smoothly. It was a casual and fun place to enjoy a meal.

Okonomiyaki and rice set is a combination that is not familiar in the Kanto region and is often debated on TV. To me, it is a happy set! The pork and egg set costs ¥700 and comes with pickles and miso soup. The okonomiyaki has a nice balance of crispy cabbage and soft texture. On the table, there are powdered bonito flakes, seaweed, powdered red pepper, and sauce that you can adjust to your liking. The sauce is on the spicy side, so I didn't need extra sauce. Next time, I would like to try the fluffy and creamy okonomiyaki that is cooked in dashi, whether it's okonomiyaki or monjayaki.

Suddenly craving for okonomiyaki. I think it's a true testament to being a native Osakan. I tend to make takoyaki at home more often. Recently, there are many affordable takoyaki makers that cook beautifully, so I don't eat it out much. But with okonomiyaki, it's definitely tastier to eat out than to make it yourself. It seems to be run by the same owners as the neighboring izakaya. When I entered the restaurant, the owner came over from next door. It's just a typical okonomiyaki restaurant. The menu was a bit sticky, which I didn't like. Okonomiyaki has a very soft dough. If you try to pick it up with chopsticks, it falls apart. The sauce is medium spicy. Is okonomiyaki sauce addictive? I start to feel satisfied. Everyone has their own preferences, but I think I prefer a firmer dough. Thank you for the meal!

The Buta-dama set is great! It includes a draft beer, edamame, kimchi, and salt-grilled pork. All for just 1500 yen. The edamame and kimchi are served while you wait for the delicious salt-grilled pork. The salt-grilled pork is amazing here. I recommend adding a draft beer to your order. The pork is crispy and goes well with the finely chopped cabbage in the Buta-dama dish. There are other items on the menu that look good too, so I'll definitely come back to try them. See you next time!

Today's lunch was at "Okonomiyaki Jin" on Enoshima Island, where I had the pork okonomiyaki set. The pork on the grilled surface was crispy and fragrant, while the inside of the batter melted like grated yam except for the roughly chopped cabbage. The unique finish was really delicious. Today, I enjoyed this meal with Chibarama and Banana Man. With the new cabinet and talks of tax increases, I wonder if there is no future for the tax in the gasping kitchen situation.

There are almost no okonomiyaki restaurants in this area, so this place has a monopoly. It may be difficult for people to enter because it is underground, but it is a nice okonomiyaki restaurant. They also have a good selection of appetizers, so you can enjoy okonomiyaki with drinks. The prices and taste are decent, making it popular among salarymen. It's hard to find okonomiyaki that is really delicious. This place is a B-class gourmet, but that's part of its charm. I hope this place stays open for a long time.

Located a little north of Awaza Station along the Shin-Naniwa Street, this okonomiyaki restaurant is situated in what seems like a semi-basement of a building. You descend a few stairs to enter the shop. During lunchtime, I tried the yakisoba as a standalone dish for 580 yen. If you opt for a set meal, which includes rice, miso soup, and pickles, it costs 700 yen. There are also lunch set options like okonomiyaki set meals and tonpeiyaki set meals, all priced at 700 yen. The yakisoba is made with pork and features straight, medium-thick noodles that are slightly chewy and have a firm texture. The seasoning is simple but tasty, with a slightly sweet sauce that complements the dish well. It doesn't have the greasiness often found in pork yakisoba, making it a favorite of mine.

In this area, there are not many teppanyaki or okonomiyaki restaurants. It seems like there are mostly yakitori places in Awaza, and there are few sushi restaurants as well. It would be nice to have more variety in terms of different types of restaurants. This place always seems busy whenever I pass by. I visited alone after 10 PM. The restaurant only has teppanyaki tables, and it was full of office workers on this day. The menu offers bottled beers from all four major manufacturers. The prices for Dry and Lager are 467 yen, while Premium and Ebisu are 505 yen. A young male staff member brought me a blackboard with the daily recommendations written on it. It listed fresh fish and simmered side dishes, offering a variety of options. The menu also includes a wide range of standard dishes that are suitable for izakaya-style dining. I ordered the burdock and fiddlehead fern simmer for 380 yen, the squid and vegetable stir-fry for 572 yen, and the mixed teppanyaki for 1334 yen. The okonomiyaki is cooked in the kitchen and brought to the table. The table teppan is used for keeping it warm. The price of the okonomiyaki may seem a bit high, but it had plenty of ingredients. The batter was on the softer side, and the sauce had a moderately spicy and ordinary taste. Personally, I love the soft and gooey batter. The staff member here was attentive to the heat of the table teppan. He was friendly, so I look forward to chatting with him next time.

In Awa-za, Osaka, I found a okonomiyaki restaurant called "Okonomiyaki Jin." I had the pork and cabbage okonomiyaki set meal for 700 yen, which came with okonomiyaki, rice, miso soup, and pickles. I was worried about how it would taste, but it was delicious. The sauce had a tangy flavor, and the miso soup was a bit salty. The menu also had options like tonpeiyaki set meal and yakisoba set meal. Another customer who came later ordered the pork and cabbage okonomiyaki set meal and kimchi udon. The noodles looked good too.

When I'm in Osaka, I often stay at the Super Hotel Osaka Natural Hot Springs, and about a 5-6 minute walk away, there's a restaurant called "Jin" that I stumbled upon. I've been there a few times and the food is quite delicious. I've only been there during the day, but they serve a lunch set called "Okonomiyaki Teishoku," which includes okonomiyaki, rice, and miso soup. This is common in Osaka. So, for lunch, I always get the pork okonomiyaki set. It's fluffy and the pork is crispy. This is a classic Osaka lunch set. And if you order kimchi with it, you can drink beer all day long, in my case.
