As you get older, it takes time to accept new environments. When you are young, you can easily adapt to new surroundings without much thought, but as you age, you tend to cling to the past and struggle to move forward. The sandblasting at Foodway Koto store was good, the Sakura Itojima pork at Hello Day was good, and there were many Seven-Elevens in Niehama, but there are fewer in Shuheng, with more Lawsons and Family Marts. Noda Meat's meat was good, Makoto Udon's tempura was good, and China Kitchen's mapo tofu was good. It's pointless to talk about all that. Due to COVID, I couldn't eat out for 2 years, and to top it off, there was a cluster outbreak at work for a month. The wasted month in Fukuoka was significant. After moving to Kitakyushu for 2 months, I finally settled into the new life. These 2 months were honestly tough. I know Yawata Nishi-ku well, but Kokura Minami-ku was a fresh start from zero. I regretted choosing Yawata Nishi-ku so many times. I started night shifts, and now I can enjoy lunch after night shifts. And today, it's Yayoi-ken. I chose Shuheng because Hamakatsu, CoCo Ichi, Sanchi, McDonald's, Linga Hat, Yayoi-ken, Kentucky, Hotto Motto, Kura Sushi, Business Super, privately-owned shops, banks, convenience stores, drug stores, supermarkets, Komeda Coffee, Jolly Pasta, Mos Burger, and Mister Donut are all within walking distance. The toriten set meal. Yayoi-ken's toriten is insanely delicious! Once you break through the crispy coating, the meat juice overflows like a fountain. The refreshing sauce with yuzu goes perfectly with the toriten, making the rice disappear quickly. There was a toriten and dango soup set meal, but I don't need the dango soup! I just want the toriten. The toriten alone is enough for me. Originally, I couldn't eat inside the restaurant, so whether there was dango soup or not didn't matter, but now, the toriten set meal is finally here. No dango soup, just toriten. So happy~(^з^)-☆

I had a pork shogayaki set meal at Yayoiken for the first time in a while, and it left me feeling like, "Is this the taste...?" There were always a lot of bean sprouts, but now there seems to be more onions and less pork relative to before. Even though it's been about 10 years since I last visited, I couldn't really compare, but it seems like the handmade feel has decreased (or rather, it's zero now). Yayoiken's specialty is that you can make ochazuke with the broth, but the miso soup seemed to lack depth in flavor compared to the broth for ochazuke (lol). The tofu was good, and the barley rice I tried for a change was also nice. Also, I was surprised that all the male staff working there were very friendly. Maybe the kids in Tokuryoku are raised well (lol).

I came to eat the cold soup set meal, but it had already ended, so I changed to the salt-grilled mackerel set meal. I ordered through the ticket machine at the entrance. The man in front of me didn't know how to use it, so he ended up calling a staff member, making me wait for about 3 minutes. The salt-grilled mackerel set meal was delicious with the mackerel being fatty and the rice being quite tasty with free refills. The highlight was the clam soup, which was filled with large clams. The flavor of the clams really hit the spot in my hungover body. It took less than 3 minutes from handing in the ticket to getting served. The speediness was great.

I ordered the "Refreshing Lemon Special Cut Steak with Savory Salt Sauce" and Tamagoyaki at the Plenus set meal restaurant "Yayoiken". The cut steak I had was delicious, but the lemon steak with its milder sauce was more satisfying, making me want to have multiple servings of rice. The Tamagoyaki was half-cooked with a creamy texture, and when placed on top of the rice, it was amazing. The Kinme rice goes well with everything, and its deliciousness makes you want to have multiple servings.

February weekend dinner with family. Accessible from Monorail Tokuryo Arashiyama-guchi Station by car in about 5 minutes. First-time visit. Chicken ramen had record sales last year. This time, we visited "Yayoiken Kokura Minami Inter Store". The restaurant is a bit far from the station, closer to the highway interchange, with quite a bit of traffic. Luckily, they have a dedicated parking lot. The interior is lit with indirect lighting, giving off a vibe different from typical set meal restaurants. The seating consists of tables for 2 to 6 people, with a medium capacity. Despite it being around 7 pm on a weekend, the place was about 80% full. It operates with a ticket vending machine system, so be careful. We ordered the following: Chicken Nanban and Shrimp Fry Set Meal (960 yen). The side dish was cold tofu. The grated yam in the photo was an extra order. The standard Chicken Nanban and Shrimp Fry were served with tartar sauce, which was a nice touch. The Chicken Nanban was generously coated in sweet vinegar. You can't get seconds of miso soup, but you can have unlimited rice refills. I ended up having 3 extra bowls of rice. Overall, Yayoiken is a typical set meal restaurant. The service was polite, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The prices are reasonable, considering the unlimited rice and the extra miso soup. It's convenient that they stay open until late. Thank you for the meal.

There are a lot of menu options to choose from, but I went with the Chicken Nanban set meal. My two companions ordered the Toriten and Dango soup set meal, and the Rich and Flavorful Champon. The Chicken Nanban was delicious as always. Thank you for the meal.

There have been times when a hamburger came out looking burnt black like charcoal, but the staff is friendly and the food is delicious.

I saw a review from a reviewer and wanted to eat the conger eel at Ajisai no Yu in Kawachi! I took my mother there... managed to take a bath, but the restaurant on the 2nd floor is far away! (>_<) Regrettably gave up, then remembered seeing a steak commercial and decided to go to Yayoi-ken. Beef steak set meal for 990 yen. There are some tender parts inside, but the meat is still tough. It takes quite a bit of effort to chew. My jaw is going to get tired ^_^; I was drawn to the cold soup as I was feeling hot, so I chose the chicken nanban set meal. The cold soup has a lot of fine ice in it. I'm not a fan of the crunchy texture, being someone with weak teeth. But when you don't have much of an appetite, it might be good to eat it smoothly like ochazuke. Well, I don't really lose my appetite often (laughs). I hesitated whether to pour the cold soup over the rice in the rice bowl or put the rice into the cold soup, but decided to put the rice in as I didn't want the rice bowl to get dirty if I were to get a refill. I wonder which way is correct. The chicken nanban is just delicious. This alone might be enough side dishes.

I went to Yayoiken for the first time in a while! It was my first time or maybe second time, I don't usually go there (lol). First, you buy a meal ticket at the ticket machine, which always makes me nervous because I rarely come here (-_-;). I had the beef sukiyaki set for 890 yen, my son 1 had the chicken nanban set for 740 yen and added a side menu of seasoned seaweed for 100 yen. My son 2 had the miso katsu simmered set for 760 yen. Both of them eagerly had seconds of rice! It's a great place for young boys. I haven't been here much before, but I'm curious about the eggplant miso dish and others. It seems to be run by the same company as Hotto Motto, so the menu structure is similar!

I originally planned to eat one more limited-time menu item before writing this review, but since there have been reviews from Fukuoka and Ibaraki reviewers recently, I'll go ahead and post it now (laughs). When I was in my twenties, I used to go to "Meshiya Don" a lot. I frequented the Tsukuma store near Fukuoka Airport on Route 3, the hotel store on the 1st floor of Hakata Station Chikushi Exit, the store near Lawson that closed (relocated?) near Gion-machi, and the Kurumon-cho store. They were reasonably priced and the all-you-can-eat option was the biggest appeal back in my younger days. I didn't know how many stores there were in Kitakyushu (I found one the other day at Honjo Castle), but it all started in Fukuoka (Yayoiken itself was originally a Western-style restaurant in Tokyo, according to information I saw on TV in the past). It's a store under the same group as Hotto Motto and Pronto. This time, I ordered the limited-time thick-cut kalbi mix set for 980 yen. I usually only order the "Japanese-style grated hamburger mix set" here, so it's been a while since I ordered something different. I waited eagerly for the thick-cut kalbi. But the kalbi meat wasn't thick... (T_T) Well, that's how it goes (^_^;) The taste was a bit strong, so I added half a bowl of extra rice and finished it. The fact that the staff (probably not professional chefs) can make it quickly is one of the charms here. It's amazing that it tastes good no matter who makes it, right?

I happened to visit this restaurant on this day. It is located in Tokuyoshi Higashi, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City, at the Yayoiken Kokuraminami Inter store. After thinking for about 6.9 seconds, I purchased a meal ticket for the "ginger pork set meal". The price was 630 yen. I was surprised by how delicious it was! I never knew that a "ginger pork set meal" could be this tasty. If I hadn't come across this restaurant, I might have lived a boring life without knowing about such delicious food. I am satisfied. I initially thought I wouldn't go, but after being intrigued by the stories of Yaoko's reviewers, I decided to go eat saury! My mother ordered the tori-ten mizore set, while I chose the saury set. At the entrance, there was a ticket vending machine, and there were quite a few elderly customers. A young and beautiful lady noticed me waiting and came to help. It was really helpful to have someone assist when you're in a dilemma. The tori-ten mizore set and the saury set arrived almost at the same time. You can change the rice to multigrain rice. Although you can't get seconds, you can choose from regular, large, and even larger portions. My mother changed hers to multigrain rice, while I was planning to get a refill of rice. The food was delicious, especially the saury. I'm not very good at eating fish, so I envy those who can eat gracefully. I need to practice my eating manners more. The miso soup was the only thing that didn't impress me. It tasted like instant miso soup. I wished I had known that you could change it to tonjiru. The saury set is a limited-time offer, so I will definitely go back soon. I saw the commercial for the return of the steak set, so I went to try it out. I ordered the steak set and the mixed set. However, this time the steak was terrible. The meat was tough and full of gristle. Even my mother, who has bad teeth, could only eat a couple of softer pieces. The rice was served in a weird way, like it had been dumped upside down on the plate. I probably won't go back. I didn't plan to write a review, so here is a photo of the menu.

I saw a TV commercial for a beef steak set meal with a limited time offer of 100 yen off! I looked up online to see if there was a "Yayoiken" nearby and found out there was a store at Kokura Minami Inter in the Kitakyushu area. I decided to go there right away. I arrived at around 7pm on a weekday. As soon as I entered, there were samples lined up in a small space, and next to them was a ticket machine. I selected the limited time offer beef steak set meal (usually 890 yen) and the chicken nanban and shrimp fry set meal that I was curious about from the website, both priced at 890 yen. I bought the tickets and entered the store. Right after entering, there was a guide to smoking and non-smoking seats. I chose the non-smoking counter without hesitation, and a young female staff member quickly brought water and took the half of the ticket. There were more than 7 groups of customers before me. Even after I sat down, solo diners and families kept coming in. It was pleasantly busy. After a while, the chicken nanban and shrimp fry set meal arrived. It came with rice, miso soup, cold tofu, and a small dish for pickles that were provided on the table. It was quite a generous portion. There were two shrimp fries. The meat was tender, and the fries were crispy. The rich flavor made the rice go down easily. In the case of set meals, rice refills were free, which was a nice service. There was a "rice refill station" so you could go and serve yourself. Soon after, the beef steak set meal also arrived. It came on a hot iron plate with steak and toppings of bean sprouts, green beans, and potatoes. It also included rice, miso soup, salad, dipping sauce, salt, and a small dish for pickles on the tray. The steak was decent but considering the price and portion size, I couldn't complain. If I were to visit again, I would probably try the fried food or hamburger. Thank you for the meal.
