I visited for the first time. The interior of the restaurant was small with only a counter. I ordered a sashimi platter and boiled bamboo shoots. The sashimi was delicious, but the boiled bamboo shoots were especially tasty, and I was very satisfied to enjoy seasonal dishes. Since I visited alone, they adjusted the portion size for me, which made me feel very comfortable. I would like to visit again with my close friend next time.

In the evening, after a business meeting in the late afternoon, I went to a long-established small dish restaurant called Tako Hachi in Shinkyogoku, Kyoto. I ordered dishes such as "teppai," bonito sashimi, cloud ear mushroom with ponzu sauce, homemade duck roast, grilled conger eel, and turtle hot pot. We started with a toast with beer and then enjoyed the meal with hot sake and delicious dishes. It was a long time since I last visited Tako Hachi, and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Thank you for the feast! #Kyoto #Shinkyogoku #TakoHachi #gourmet #kaiseki #small dish restaurant #cheers #delicious #beer #sake #hot sake #teppai #bonito sashimi #cloud ear mushroom with ponzu sauce #homemade duck roast #grilled conger eel #turtle hot pot

The shop is small. There seem to be many regular customers, and the service is very polite and pleasant. The menu is not very extensive. I almost feel like I've tried everything. I ordered dishes with similar colors, such as grilled nodoguro, eggplant dengaku, and grilled chicken. I will visit again.

I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant, and I'm glad I did. The appetizer of nuta with a hint of spicy mustard was delicious and went well with beer. The sashimi of sea bream was sweet and tasty. The duck loin was tender and soaked in a flavorful broth. I wanted to enjoy a tasty broth, so I ended my meal with a soup of softshell turtle. The broth of the softshell turtle was incredibly delicious. I wanted to try the blackthroat seaperch as well, but I was too full. I will definitely have to come back again. I was truly satisfied with the delicious food. Thank you for the meal.

Kyoto gourmet!! For the second place, I called on a whim and luckily got a seat right away. The restaurant only has a counter and the menu consists of cards with ingredients written on them. There is no drink menu either, so I decided to go with chilled sake and chose eel with radish as my dish. The appetizer was a leek dip! I was intrigued by the neighboring table's order of fried oysters, but I didn't have the confidence to finish it all by myself, so I had to pass. With one glass of sake, an appetizer, and the eel dish, the total came to exactly 2,000 yen. Next time, I want to visit the first place on my list.

This is a must-visit shop when traveling to Kyoto. It tends to get very crowded on weekends, so making a reservation is a must. No matter what time of year you go, this shop always offers delicious seasonal flavors while also serving classic dishes. The menu is simple and straightforward, focusing on bringing out the quality of the ingredients. If you prefer extravagant and visually stunning dishes, this may not be the place for you. But if you appreciate dishes that highlight the goodness of the ingredients, then you will definitely love this shop. I recommend trying the fried small taro, grilled fish, fried conger eel, hot pot, watercress and fried tofu stew, bamboo shoot simmered dish, and various other dishes. Can't wait to go back in the spring! 😉

First visit. Nothing particularly special, but everything I tried was delicious. Gave off a vibe of being a local favorite. Still, I'd definitely like to go back again.

Today's destination is a quiet little restaurant tucked away in a corner of Shin Kyogoku, called Takohachi. It's a small, bustling place where reservations are a must. I quenched my thirst with a cold bottle of beer and enjoyed the refreshing yuzu flavor of the egg tofu appetizer. The menu offers unlimited refills, and I chose the sashimi of sea bream and roasted duck. The finely crafted dishes were delicious. The soothing Kyoto dialect spoken by the people next to me added to the pleasant atmosphere.

At first glance, this place may seem a bit intimidating. The menu doesn't have prices listed, and it's a small, cozy spot with just a counter where regulars seem to gather. However, the food was delicious.

The bamboo shoots were delicious. I was surprised by the low price for this quality! However, it's not easy to find them often.

Highball with a large ice ball. One serving of sashimi with grilled conger eel cost 5200 yen. The conger eel was crispy rather than tender. The cost performance was not great. Prices were not listed, so it was based on the owner's discretion. Cash only. The restaurant is small, so be prepared.
