This restaurant is located near the Kintetsu Nankai Line, Eganojo Station. In September 2016, on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30 pm, I visited for lunch. Since it was close to closing time for lunch, there were no other customers. I was told to choose any seat I liked, so I sat in the middle, the nicest seat available. The high ceiling allowed sunlight to come in through the windows, but the air conditioning kept the place cool. The energetic owner was cooking yakisoba in the kitchen. The sound of sizzling could be heard from where I was sitting. I went with a friend and we ordered the following dishes: - Dotombori Yakisoba: This restaurant is famous for its Dotombori Yakisoba, which is made with thick noodles similar to udon, seasoned with a rich sauce (made with dashi and tsumami). It's a popular dish here, and it's tradition to order it when visiting this restaurant. It's served with a tamagoyaki on top, which adds a creamy touch to the dish. - Hiroshima Okonomiyaki (mixed): This dish had a generous portion and was filled with pork, squid, and shrimp. The batter was fluffy and thick due to the addition of soba noodles. The menu also offers a variety of teppanyaki dishes, not just okonomiyaki. There are many options to choose from, so you can enjoy a dinner-like experience at this restaurant. I also got a regular yakisoba for takeout, and even though it was for takeout, it was beautifully presented with a sunny-side-up egg on top. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

Celebrating 400 years of the history of "dashi" in Japan! A limited edition menu has been released in Powdered Food Walker. The latest issue of Kansai Walker is a super special autumn edition! The Japan Konamon Association has collaborated with popular Konamon shop owners to develop a special new menu featuring the "Dotonbori Trio" - Dotonbori soy sauce dashi with ginger, Dotonbori sauce dashi with cumin, and Dotonbori mayo dashi with bonito flakes. You can purchase these at the famous Osaka souvenir shop "Naniwa Meibutsu Ichibiri-an". The Dotonbori yakisoba is a popular dish, with a unique flavor profile that includes a rich chicken broth and a light soy sauce sweetness. Don't miss out on trying this delicious dish!

I went to the okonomiyaki restaurant "SHIMIZUYA" in Habikino City. The restaurant is located 3 minutes from Kintetsu Eganoi Station, in a shopping street. There is no parking lot, so you have to park at a nearby coin parking. The interior of the restaurant has 20 table seats and no counter seats. It has a spacious and calm atmosphere with high ceilings. I ordered the "Butatama" for 630 yen, which had a fluffy texture and a delicious taste with a good balance of sauce and dashi. I also tried the shrimp and tofu hamburger for 380 yen, which had a light and healthy taste with a fluffy tofu texture. My wife ordered the "Hiroshima-yaki," which had a crispy texture from the cabbage and a light taste due to the low amount of flour. Overall, the food was delicious. I often visit this restaurant with my family or for dates. Location: About 200m north from Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line Eganoi Station. You can park at the nearby Sansan Park and they will give you a parking ticket. Inside the restaurant: There are about 4 table seats right after you enter, and a tatami room for about 8 people in the back left. The high ceiling makes it feel cold in winter. Menu: They have okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (people from Hiroshima get mad if you call it Hiroshima-yaki), yakisoba, and various side dishes. Taste: Everything is really delicious. Beer goes down smoothly. Especially the chicken and cheese side dish is so delicious it's dangerous. Prices: The okonomiyaki is reasonably priced, probably because it's a countryside area. I don't remember the details, but it's definitely cheaper and tastier than going to a chain restaurant in the city. Those chain restaurants make me feel like throwing up. The drinks are also reasonably priced, so even if you drink a lot, the bill won't break the bank. Service: The staff is very lively and the service is pleasant. The parking ticket service is helpful, but the number of service tickets they give you seems to depend on the staff's mood at the time, which can be a bit inconsistent. Overall: Lately, there are more and more bad okonomiyaki restaurants, but I think our okonomiyaki is the best. However, this restaurant serves delicious okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and side dishes, all at reasonable prices, so I like it. Since it's close by, I want to keep coming back. It would be great if they gave out more parking service tickets (laughs).

I love takoyaki, but I'm not a big fan of okonomiyaki, maybe due to my peculiar taste buds? (laughs) On Sunday, my wife wanted to eat something spicy, so we decided to visit our usual Korean restaurant, only to find out that they no longer serve lunch on Sundays and were closed. I didn't want to ruin the mood, so I suggested trying out a supposedly delicious okonomiyaki restaurant that I had researched beforehand. The place had a decent rating on Tabelog, so we decided to give it a try. It was a small, clean restaurant with only 4 tables. We ordered our usual pork okonomiyaki and yakisoba. The yakisoba had big, delicious shrimp, but the noodles were too sticky. Next, the pork okonomiyaki arrived, and surprisingly, my wife loved it, and even I, who usually doesn't like okonomiyaki, found it delicious. The batter was fluffy, the pork was crispy, and the cabbage was perfectly balanced. The homemade mayonnaise and sauce were also excellent. Despite the disappointing yakisoba, we both agreed that we would return for the okonomiyaki. As a food enthusiast, I can't help but wonder why the okonomiyaki was so good while the yakisoba fell short. I'll have to give the yakisoba another chance next time. (laughs)

I went to a teppanyaki, okonomiyaki, and Hiroshima-yaki restaurant. The restaurant is located a 5-minute walk from Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line's Eganojo Station in a shopping street. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, with the kitchen in the middle and seating on both sides. There are 4 table seats and a tatami room that can accommodate up to 8 people. The menu includes teppanyaki, okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-yaki, as well as a variety of other dishes. There is also a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. With such a variety of menu items, there are many ways to enjoy the food. You can just have okonomiyaki, order some dishes with drinks, or have a big party with various dishes. The table seats have a teppanyaki grill where the food is cooked and brought to you. The Hiroshima-yaki has crunchy cabbage and a hint of sweetness. Unlike the Kansai-style, it has less flour, giving it a healthier feel. The Hiroshima-yaki with cheese has a gooey cheese topping that matches well with the sauce. The Torotama has a light texture with yam and soy sauce, making it refreshing to eat. The yakisoba has smooth and thin noodles. The tofu hamburger with grated daikon topping is light and delicious. The Wagyu sirloin steak is marbled and melts in your mouth, served with garlic on the side. The pork kimchi, enoki bacon, asparagus bacon, potato cheese, and grilled horumon are also delicious. It's a great restaurant to have nearby.

Revisit...! I suddenly received an invitation and had a fun drinking and eating gathering where we ordered the signature dish, "Dotonbori Yakisoba"! The restaurant's original Dotonbori Yakisoba with sujikon was delicious. Last time when I came by car, I sadly had non-alcoholic beer, but today I enjoyed my favorite draft beer! This combination is so addictive and delicious! We had a group of 9 people. The restaurant is located a 5-minute walk north from Kintetsu Namba Line (Eganosho Station), in a shopping street that still retains the atmosphere of Showa era. The place is still young, celebrating its 4th year in December. The interior has 3 tables for 4 people, 1 table for 2 people, and a private room with a hori table for 8 people. The energetic manager is grilling on a large iron plate. They offer a variety of dishes including okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and creative teppanyaki dishes that can be enjoyed according to the occasion. The drink menu is also interesting, but the most eye-catching is the option to keep a bottle of shochu (sweet potato or barley) for 3980 yen. We had the chef's special course which included dishes like pork kimchi, asparagus bacon, potato cheese, enoki bacon, tofu hamburger, wagyu sirloin steak, grilled hormone, toro-tama, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki with cheese. The recommended dish is the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, which is hearty and satisfying. Other menu items include okonomiyaki, yakisoba, omusoba, wagyu sirloin (small), stamina yaki, potato cheese, etc. This place is great for parties, solo dining, couples, or private gatherings in the back room. The energetic manager provides great service with a friendly attitude.

"I went to a place called 'Keiganosho' for the first time in my life. It's located on the Kintetsu Nankai Line from Tennoji, just before Fujiidera! The logo of the restaurant 'SHIMIZUYA' is cute with the letter 'I' shaped like a spatula. The interior, with wood and orange colors, is warm and cozy. As soon as I sat down, I thought 'Ahh!' The Sapporo beer is delicious! Today, we have a collaboration between 'RIQUIR SHOP Matsumura' and 'SHIMIZUYA' where Matsumura brings various types of alcohol and Shimizuya prepares the food for a fun party of drinking and eating. The menu is 'omakase', with various dishes automatically served. There are many options for teppanyaki dishes, which is great! The 'Asparagus Bacon' can be enjoyed as a side dish. The 'Enoki Bacon' is recommended for those who like foam! There is also 'Moon Rabbit' and 'Tofu Hamburger', which are light and healthy. The 'Potato Cheese' is a great dish, and when topped with 'Pork Kimchi', it becomes even tastier. There is a variety of sake available, such as 'Aki Shika' and 'Tateyama'. The 'Beef Steak' is a generous portion for less than a thousand yen, making it a great value dish. It's a must-try! The 'Hormone Yaki' is delicious, showing the quality of Nankainakauchi! The 'Torotama', made of yam and eggs, has a fluffy texture that I love! We also had 'Okonomiyaki' and 'Hiroshima Yaki', both full of ingredients and delicious. The meal ended with 'Yakisoba', but we were still drinking... The 'Sakamatsu' Daiginjo is made by 'Naniwa Sake Brewery' in Osaka, and I have a special attachment to it as I have visited the brewery and tried their freshly made sake. We ate and drank a lot, but it was worth it. This local okonomiyaki restaurant is really cozy and welcoming. It's a place where you can feel right at home." - Okonomiyaki Teppanyaki Hiroshima-yaki 'SHIMIZUYA' 4-4-3 Keiganosho, Habikino City, Osaka 072-955-1221 11:30-14:00, 17:00-24:00 Closed on Mondays - Matsumura Liquor Shop 4-13-3 Fujiidera, Osaka 072-955-2547

Okonomiyaki is something that I get bored of eating alone after just one serving. However, at SHIMIZUYA, I feel the desire to order a variety of dishes with a group of friends and try different things! The menu is packed with more than just okonomiyaki, making it feel like an izakaya. Other customers include families in the back tatami area and couples at the two-person tables. The clean and simple interior creates a relaxing atmosphere. You can even keep a bottle of shochu here, making it a place loved by locals. The Torotama, a yam and egg dish, seems like something even kids would enjoy. I recommend trying the Jagacheese and Buta Kimchi together! The sirloin steak, cooked on a hot plate, is rich in flavor from the fat. The Hormone, with miso-flavored small intestine, is perfect for drinking. The okonomiyaki and yakisoba are packed with ingredients, and the sauce is on the sweeter side, typical of Hiroshima style. What's great is that they serve my favorite Usobeer! They have Sapporo's beer, which I really care about since I've been cutting back on alcohol lately. Whether you're hungry with a group of friends or family, or just looking for a quick drink, or even for takeout, it's all good here. If it were closer to home, I'd definitely be a regular. Smoking is allowed.
