While waiting for my Chicken Nanban bento at Yatei, I decided to check out a shop that had caught my eye before. The sign said "Kitchen," but there was a coffee tapestry hanging, so I assumed they also served tea. I opened the door and found a small counter-only shop with one customer already there, who turned out to be the owner. She asked if I wanted food or just coffee, but there was no menu in sight, so I guessed they had daily specials. I noticed bottles of whiskey and liqueur on the kitchen shelf, so it seemed like a place where people come to drink at night, even though it looked more like a cafe. I ordered a hot coffee, which was brewed one cup at a time with freshly ground beans. It had a mild bitterness and acidity, making it easy to drink. As more regular customers arrived, the atmosphere became lively, with everyone chatting and occasionally asking the owner questions. Despite her tough appearance, the owner turned out to be very kind and friendly. While I didn't have any specific dishes or drinks in mind, I felt like coming back to this place. I didn't get to see a menu, but I ordered my coffee for a very reasonable price of 400 yen. Later, I found a blog post from someone who had drinks at the same place, confirming that the food menu seems to change daily.
