"Grand Bresson Hotel Jozankei" is a new hotel that opened last year. It used to be the Jozankei Grand Hotel Mizuen. I visited thanks to a national travel support coupon that allowed me to stay at a discounted rate. The facilities are new and clean everywhere. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the in-room open-air bath is large and refreshing. I first relaxed in the hot spring, spent 10 minutes in the sauna, and went through 4 sets of cold water baths. After a leisurely evening drink in the room, I headed to the eagerly awaited dinner venue. The menu included: "Appetizer - Long yam tofu with caviar", "Sashimi - Assorted sashimi of tuna and sea bream", "Steamed dish - Steamed natural shrimp with enoki mushrooms and shark fin", "Fish dish - Alfonsino and lily root tea", "Meat dish - Roast beef of Tokachi herb beef", "Finishing touch - Crab rice with burdock", and "Dessert - Chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream". The specialty dish at this hotel is the roast beef of Tokachi herb beef. They cut it at each table and you can choose the thickness. I asked for an extremely thick cut, and they served it with a smile. The meat was tender and delicious with just the right amount of marbling. It was enjoyable to try it with different sauces and salt. From the appetizer to the finishing touch, every dish was satisfying and surprisingly filling! The next morning, in addition to the "Japanese set meal", there was a buffet with salad, fruits, and dessert. The Japanese set meal had a wide variety of dishes, all of which were delicious, and I ended up eating too much again. The room, bath, food, service, everything was of high quality and I was very satisfied. Thank you for taking care of me!"

On the second day of our 2-night stay, we had a special private room upgrade for dinner as it was my birthday. The sashimi appetizer was delicious! The steamed scallops and shrimp in Chinese style were also tasty! The meat main dish was very filling! We also had dessert and an anniversary dessert, both were excellent. We were able to take the anniversary dessert back to our room and enjoy it later. The chocolate was also really delicious! For breakfast, there were a wide variety of dishes like a treasure chest, making it fun and tasty. In addition, there were salads, yogurt, fruits, and desserts available in buffet style.

Course dinner served on the first night of a 2-night stay. Soft drinks are free-flowing, while alcoholic beverages are ordered separately. The menu features autumn dishes for September, with a mix of Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine. Each dish is generously portioned, with the popular roast beef being a highlight. The roast beef is typically 180g, but can be adjusted to your preference. It is sliced in front of you and served with two sauces, salt, and wasabi cream. The meat is tender, moist, and juicy, with a rich flavor that may be a bit heavy for those in their 50s, but younger guests may enjoy the slightly fattier texture. The corn side dish is delicious, showcasing Hokkaido's quality produce. Overall, the dishes were tasty and presented in a stylish manner. The open-air bath offers a stunning view and is highly recommended for a relaxing soak.

I tried the beef stew for lunch as part of a day trip hot spring plan, and I was surprised by how delicious it was! It had big chunks of meat all the way to the bottom! It was raining, but I enjoyed the view of the greenery while sitting at the counter. The hotel, the baths, the gift shop, and the spa were all amazing, so next time I definitely want to stay overnight and enjoy dinner as well.

It's been a while since I visited Jozankei Onsen, and new hotels are being built rapidly, making it harder to navigate. This is the old Jozankei Grand Hotel Mizuno, which has a new scent since it was built. One thing I was happy about upon arrival was that the car parking was right next to the entrance, with a roof over it. No need to worry about shoveling snow after checkout. The hotel is impressive, and the room still has a new smell. Bath towels are provided, so you can use the bath without bringing your own. Now, let's head to the dining area. I'm not a fan of buffet style, so I opted for a course meal. Here are the dishes I enjoyed:
- "Appetizer: Cod Milt and Kabura with Monkfish Liver and Ponzu Jelly"
- "Sashimi Platter: Assorted 2 kinds"
- "Steamed Dish: Crab Roe and Fish Maw with Scallop and Shark Fin Sauce"
- "Fish Dish: Steamed Sea Bream, Abalone, and Prawn with Ginger"
- "Meat Dish: Tokachi Herb Beef Roast Beef with 3 Accents (Japanese Sauce, Flower Salt, Horseradish Cream)"
- "Finale: Steamed Sushi with Yuzu Sauce, Clear Soup with Lily Root"
- "Dessert: Seasonal Sorbet and Fruit Soup"
I could go on like this until breakfast. For breakfast, I had a Japanese set meal with salad, fruits, sweets, and drinks in a buffet style. The breakfast was satisfying with dishes like pickled salmon, black natto, herring, tarako, and pickles. The walnut tofu was delicious, and the black natto was surprisingly tasty. Overall, I would love to stay at this hotel again.

At the buffet, you can enjoy freshly fried tempura and steak. However, the steak is tough and the steak sauce is not very tasty. The freshly fried tempura is not as good as what you find in town, but it has shrimp so it feels like a good deal. I also tried putting it in udon and soba noodles. I wanted to try the Shanghai-style fried noodles, but they didn't replenish it at all and I ended up giving up before they did. There were replenishments for other dishes, but not for that one. Overall, there was nothing special, just ordinary tasting dishes.

I totally forgot, but I stayed at the Jozankei Grand Hotel Mizunomori last November too. I remember now, the next morning I woke up early, took a bus to Makomanai Station, and then went golfing from there. This time, I went on a one-night hot spring tour with the owner's family of the new salon I started working at, like a maple viewing party. In conclusion, I was able to relax and unwind, and my fatigue just flew away. The breakfast buffet the next morning. I got too greedy from the first round and couldn't get seconds of rice, right? But it was nice to be able to relax for the first time in a while. Thank you very much.

I think the dinner buffet at this large hot spring hotel in Hokkaido is at a standard level. There are not a lot of varieties, and there is nothing particularly delicious. I personally don't like the white curry. The sashimi is not that great either. There was no typical Hokkaido crab. The cold tomato pasta had a nice tangy flavor and was delicious.

I stayed for one night and had both dinner and breakfast at the buffet. There was no sashimi, but there were finely chopped seafood items which I used to make a seafood bowl. The tempura and freshly grilled steak were delicious. While there was nothing particularly unusual, everything tasted great. It was nice to have free drinks like 100% orange juice, grapefruit juice, and tea available in the evening as well.

Stayed at the Grand Hotel Zuien in Jozankei on March 16-17, 2019 using the Revival Discount. It's a hot spring hotel where you can stay with your beloved dog. The price for one night with two meals for two people and a dog was less than 12,000 yen! It's such a bargain, it feels like it's practically free. With this kind of price, I don't even care about the food, the room, or the hot spring. The room was normal, the buffet meals were average, and the drinks at the restaurant were reasonably priced. I recommend taking your time to enjoy drinks individually instead of opting for the all-you-can-drink option. The hot springs were also normal with a large communal bath and an outdoor bath. With the discount, it's a great place to visit on a whim on the weekend. I'll definitely visit again.

My junior colleague invited me to go to a public bath because they finish work early. As we were talking, we decided to go to Jozankei, and we found that this hotel had availability. We quickly made a reservation and stayed overnight. The dinner at this hotel was different from the banquet meals we usually had, it was a regular dinner. I prefer buffet meals, even though lining up can be a hassle. This time, it was stress-free with the right timing and the hotel's arrangement. The dining time was divided (as requested), and the seating for dinner was reserved, so we didn't have to worry about finding a table. It was nice to be able to eat as much as I wanted, but I have become a light eater lately, which is a bit disappointing. I enjoyed the evening as I was spoiled for choice with dishes like steak that were not available in the morning. The breakfast buffet was as usual, even though I don't usually eat breakfast, I couldn't resist the hotel's food. Thanks to checking in early, I could have a leisurely day without crowds in the bath. The only downside was that the room in this hotel was a bit cold as it seemed to have a weakness in heating. However, considering the included meals in the morning and evening, and the price being less than 10,000 yen for a Saturday stay, it was a good deal. I would like to stay here again.

Visited during a company trip on 11/11/2018. It was supposed to be the annual Ramen Alley half-price course, but oh well... Building relationships with colleagues is important too. Great job everyone!

I went to the dinner buffet at Jozankei Grand Hotel Mizunomori. The menu was incredibly diverse! They even had steak that they cooked right there for you. There were also plenty of Hokkaido specialties. I was surprised to see that they put sugar on Hokkaido's American dogs. But it was delicious! There were so many potato dishes, which made potato lovers like me very happy. And the potatoes were so tasty! Hokkaido really lives up to its reputation! They also had sashimi! I tried a bit of everything, and it was all delicious. Why is Hokkaido's food so good? I ended up eating too much. Thank you for the feast!

New hot spring hotel in Jozankei, opened on July 1st. One night stay with two meals costs about 37,000 yen per person. Taste and service were the worst! The bath was good, but I will not be returning.

Breakfast buffet hmmm...not satisfying. The shishamo was too fishy to eat. The salmon was tough like in a business hotel. The tarako was terrible. It was so slimy that I didn't want to eat it.

They are probably making efforts within a small budget. If you can get two meals for around 7000 yen, it's a good deal.
