Ribot
Recently, I have been ranking 3rd or lower in terms of the number of reviews for restaurants in Kokura Kita and Kokura Minami districts. I have plenty of drafts saved up, so I could release them all to try to reclaim the top spot, but that would eventually lead to diminishing returns. So, I have decided to adopt a niche strategy, and my goal for this year is to focus on the "Tobata district, ranking 1st". There is a restaurant called "Torihime" in this area, if my memory serves me right, there used to be two branches near Kyushu Institute of Technology Station. This particular branch is located in front of the main gate of Kyutech. I couldn't find the photos for a long time, but I finally found one with Mr. Kabaoyaji's father's dentures, so I uploaded it to increase the number of reviews. It may have been taken 4 years ago, but I will explain the reason later. For drinks, I had a highball. For food, I ordered thick fried tofu with grated daikon and 6 types of pike conger. The thick fried tofu is what the late master Kitaoji Rosanjin called "Yukitora", a classic menu item that is delicious. Pike conger is a summer staple in Kansai, but it's not commonly served in Kitakyushu, and even when it is, it's usually sourced from suppliers, resulting in a sweeter taste due to deboning. Here, the pike conger itself is of Kitakyushu quality, but what's great is the variety of sauces available. The classic plum chili sauce was the most delicious. The food and drinks were cheap and the restaurant was good, but no one had written a review yet (in fact, the restaurant wasn't even registered), so I thought I should revisit and gather more information before writing a review. However, to my surprise, the restaurant had closed down! Later, it seemed like a kimono dressing shop? had moved in, with a sign saying "We also serve coffee". I thought it might not be eligible for reviews on Tabelog, but reviews for completely self-service restaurants have been deleted before, so I thought about registering it out of spite. The "Torihime" near the station had an impressive selection of Japanese sake, and "Tachinomi Wolf" had opened there, but that too closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The flyer for tenant recruitment had been removed, so I wonder if a new tenant will move in soon, but with the emergency declaration in effect again, it's uncertain what will happen.
