I heard that you can eat Lomo Saltado at Matsuya. Several MyRebi members have also tried it, and as someone interested in Peruvian cuisine, I decided to give it a try. I chose to have 1 piece of meat and the rice portion was normal. It cost 790 yen including tax. The vegetables were colorful - red, yellow, and green. I was a bit surprised that the meat was pork. I had always thought Lomo Saltado was made with beef, but later I found out that it can also be made with pork or chicken at home. The meat was cut into stick-like pieces, giving it a texture similar to lean beef. The potatoes were more like stewed than fried. The dish was quite saucy, with a strong sour taste. I love sour dishes, but this was the sourest Lomo Saltado I've ever had. It had a strong ponzu and garlic flavor, with no spiciness or tomato taste. It felt like a "Matsuya-style" version of the dish. Matsuya's World Cuisine Series is a fun and exciting concept where you can try unique dishes at relatively affordable prices. Although this Lomo Saltado was different from what I expected, it was refreshing to eat plenty of meat and vegetables with a light and tangy flavor during this humid season.

Between Sakaisuji Hommachi and Hommachi, at "Matsuya," I had a slightly unsatisfying Gyudon with extra sauce for 400 yen. It comes with miso soup and is known for its classic deliciousness. The system and interior have been renewed. You order from the vending machine, then go to the counter, your number is displayed inside, and you pick up your order. Maybe it's a measure to deal with the labor shortage?

The automatic ticket machine did not accept the new 500 yen coin, so I used my ICOCA card to pay for the large serving of beef bowl with egg set. The beef bowl was delicious, and I appreciated the complimentary miso soup. Matsuya has added new seasonal menu items, but their classic beef bowl is still as satisfying as ever.

I went to Matsuya Osaka Honmachi to try their mysterious menu item called "Gorogoro Chicken Carbonara-style". It's not pasta, but a new version of Gorogoro Chicken. You can choose to have it with extra rice at the same price. It has a Carbonara-like taste with a hint of cream stew. The restaurant has individual seating areas separated by partitions, and you order using a ticket system. It's not like the Matsuya in Yotsubashi with a counter, but rather a dining hall with seats lined up side by side.

I went to Matsuya for dinner alone for the first time in years. I bought a meal ticket, sat down, and waited. When my number was called, I went to pick up my order in a self-service style. Matsuya has changed. I ordered pork ginger with side dishes of raw vegetables, natto, and miso soup. It cost 820 yen in total. The pork ginger was soggy and lacked ginger flavor, tasting salty. Is this what pork ginger is supposed to taste like? Hmm. It seems like the old days were better after all. Where can I find delicious pork ginger now?

This is my first time having breakfast at Matsuya. I have had morning curry at a My Curry dining store before, but today I chose the "Sausage and Egg Set Meal for 420 yen including tax". It was recommended on the ticket machine, so I couldn't resist. I also chose natto as my side dish. There are so many breakfast options to choose from, it can be a tough decision. It seems like Matsuya has become self-service everywhere now. It's not a problem, but I really love the sunny-side-up egg on rice bowl. I also like natto rice, so having both together is the best. Lately, Matsuya's white rice is really delicious.

I visited in the morning on a regular day. I originally planned to have breakfast at a nearby udon restaurant, but it was closed... Why? Why is it closed on my day off? Haha. I was really hungry, so I could only handle carbs! I ended up at Matsuya on my way. I had the morning beef bowl for around 490 yen and paid easily with my ID. There was only one staff member, but they were very polite! It was delicious. I feel revived! The miso soup here is so tasty! Thank you for the meal!

The Matsuya in Sakaisuji Hommachi has been renovated, and the circular counter seats commonly seen in beef bowl restaurants have been removed. It has been replaced with individual seats separated by thresholds, and the restaurant has become a self-service establishment where customers pick up their orders when they are ready. This seems to be a measure for both COVID-19 prevention and cost reduction in terms of labor. I ordered the Massaman Curry that was featured in online news. - Massaman Curry (regular size) I was hesitant to offer Massaman Curry to Matsuya, but it's nice to be able to enjoy it without having to go to a Thai restaurant. The spiciness is mild, making it suitable even for those not used to eating spicy curries.

I had breakfast at "Matsuya Osaka Honmachi Store" in Honmachi. There were a few salarymen customers who visited before work. [Items I ordered] - Morning set meal: Raw egg over rice, natto Matsuya bowl I was happy that miso soup comes with the set meal. Sometimes I crave the combination of natto and raw egg.

During my walk, I got hungry and stopped by this place! The new seafood curry was unexpectedly spicy and I loved it. The aroma of the seafood was refreshing and I finished it all in no time. Not satisfied yet, I also ordered the generous portion of Negitama Gyumeshi. There were lots of green onions, so crunchy! The meat was long and chewy, very satisfying! The Gochujang sauce was also delicious with plenty of sauce. One surprising thing was that Matsuya is self-service now! I was a bit flustered when I bought the meal ticket, haha.

Today was a day off \(//∇//)\ Tomorrow is also a day off, so I decided to recharge with some garlic and headed to Butsuyama, a Jiro-style ramen shop in Shinsaibashi. But to my surprise, they were closed ( ´Д`)y━・~~ I was craving garlic... So I went to Honmachi Shoten, a local ramen shop. But they were closed too (・Д・) Feeling lazy, I ended up going to Matsuya, a place I've visited many times before. I was planning to order the usual beef or pork bowl, but then I saw a set menu with hamburger steak and beef dish! Without hesitation, I ordered it. It cost around 690 yen. The visual... just shades of brown with the hamburger steak and beef dish... I wish there was some salad \(//∇//)\ I started with the miso soup... same taste as always (^^) I poked the hamburger steak with my chopsticks... I forgot to take a picture, but it had a good amount of meat juice. I took a bite... rich demi-glace sauce, but the meat flavor stood out! The rice went down easily (^^) I tried the beef dish... I usually don't order beef dish because I prefer beef or pork bowls, but since the rice wasn't soaked in sauce, I could enjoy it as a side dish. However... hamburger steak → rice → miso soup → beef dish... it gets a bit boring (laughs) Of course, I finished it all, but beef bowl, pork bowl, and hamburger steak set. Eating them separately would be much better! Thank you for the meal.

I went to try the Georgian dish "Shkmeruli hot pot" that is often featured in online news. To my pleasant surprise, I received a 50% discount when paying with PayPay! The set meal was 790 yen, and I got back 395 points! Lucky me. They say it's the best way to enjoy garlic, and it was served in a shallow Teflon-coated pot with solid fuel burning underneath, just like the breakfast at a traditional inn. This time, I had it for dinner with a salad, miso soup, and rice set. As for why miso soup? Let's leave that aside for now. Now, onto the star of the meal, the Shkmeruli hot pot. It's like a white stew of chicken and sweet potatoes with lots of garlic (topped with cheese). It was delicious, but I felt it could use a bit more liquid, and the chicken was a bit dry and lacking in juiciness. If the chicken had been cooked longer to be tender, I would have liked it even more. The sweet potatoes had a nice fluffy texture. The rice dive eating style I read about somewhere was quite fun and enjoyable. It may not be the most proper way to eat, but if it's tasty, it's okay for adults to do it. I remember not being able to do such things when I was a kid, out of respect for my parents! I described it as a white stew, but since I don't know the authentic Georgian cuisine, I can't compare it to the real thing... Unfortunately. Personally, I feel like I'm good after trying it once. I didn't drink any alcohol today, and it was a satisfying meal. The garlic burps I had at home afterward were just like eating garlic itself (laughs).

The only thing I had never tried at a beef bowl chain restaurant was the beef bowl! Since my youth, Matsuya has been all about the "Kalbi Yakiniku Set," so when I couldn't wait until dinner after only having a light lunch, I decided to go in the evening! I tried the "Gyudon Atama Oomori" to compare. It was about 100 yen cheaper than Yoshinoya, so my excitement rose before the bowl arrived. I wanted it to be really soupy, but the staff's language quality was low, so I gave up on that. I was surprised by the size of the bowl! Even though it was a large serving, the meat slices were thin, so as I ate them, there was not much depth, and the volume of meat was disappointing! It quickly revealed the rice underneath, making it look like a regular serving in Yoshinoya terms. The seasoning is similar to Yoshinoya and quite tasty, but the rice texture was not great. Oh! It also came with miso soup at this price, which is fantastic. If they improve the volume of meat, rice quality, and staff quality, it would be even better. The price is low, so the content matches that, I guess (*☻-☻*). Yoshinoya is still the number one for beef bowls, in my opinion.

On December 17th, during the lunch break, a colleague told me that the beef stew at Matsuya was delicious. Matsuya, known for its beef bowls? The friends I went with also agreed that it was delicious. Oh, I was planning to have it for breakfast after my night shift, so I took a photo of the exterior. The sign in front of the store says, "From December 17th to January 7th, free extra rice." Although the ticket machine charges an extra 100 yen for a large portion, I decided to just get the regular size. I sat at a table and waited for my order. Unlike the beef bowl, the beef stew seemed to be freshly prepared as it took 7 minutes to be served. The beef stew looked just like the picture on the sign. It had 4 pieces of beef, half a potato, and 2 slices of carrots. I broke up the beef with a spoon and enjoyed it with the stew. It was delicious! The stew had a rich flavor and the beef was tender. The thinly sliced mushrooms added a nice touch. The miso soup could use some improvement, but the rice was freshly cooked and warm. I regretted not getting the large portion, as it would have been perfect with the stew. I wasn't expecting much when my colleague recommended Matsuya, but I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely visit again before the free extra rice offer ends on January 7th.

For breakfast on a business trip, I came here~ I was thinking of having udon, but it's too hot... Anyway, the breakfast set is cheap! Tamago kake gohan and gyudon for ¥290. The gyudon is small but has a lot of meat, which is nice. I finished it quickly with the perfect combo of raw egg and pickled ginger. I like that Matsuya serves miso soup with the meal.

"Matsuya Osaka Honmachi branch" It's the usual weekday lunch. I didn't have much time to eat slowly, but I didn't want to settle for convenience store food, so I went out to eat. On this street, there are Yoshinoya, Sukiya, and Matsuya lined up, but they are all crowded at lunchtime. I don't have any particular preferences and I can't really tell the difference in taste, so I quickly decided to have lunch at "Matsuya"! I ordered the "Gyudon Atama Oomori @390 yen" using the ticket vending machine system. Although the regular size would have been fine, I couldn't resist ordering the "Atama Oomori" that caught my eye on the menu (;'∀') By the way, "Atama Oomori" means the rice portion remains the same size, but the beef portion is larger. I don't usually eat much white rice, so I'm happier with this option! I sat down, and in just 1-2 minutes, they served my order saying, "Thank you for waiting~". It's a relief when you're short on time. So, let's give it a try~ The Gyudon has a rich and sweet-savory flavor, a classic seasoning. The rice is a bit soft, but it absorbs the rich sauce well, making it easy to eat. The miso soup is lukewarm, but considering the price, I can't complain (;'∀') I knew the taste would be the same as always before going, but there is no big difference in taste wherever you eat, so it's consistent. I quickly finished my lunch in about 10 minutes after entering the restaurant... Now, let's get back to work~ Thank you for the meal!
