What kind of food do police officers eat at the police station? The dining area inside the station is open to the public. Last fall, I received a parking violation ticket for parking on the sidewalk and had to pay a fine of 20,000 yen at the Fukuoka Prefectural Police Minami Police Station in Minami-ku, Fukuoka City. I decided to try out the station's lunch, which should be affordable. When I arrived at 11:00 am on a weekday, I asked at the general reception where the dining area was located and was directed to the back of the 1st floor of the station. The kitchen was operated by an external contractor, with a variety of menu options available including daily specials. I ordered the curry cutlet for 590 yen, which was the most expensive item on the menu. The curry was spicy with onions, potatoes, and carrots, and came with Fukujinzuke (pickles). The pork cutlet was thick and seemed to be made from real loin meat. It was a satisfying meal at a reasonable price. I will definitely use this restaurant again when I need an affordable meal option.

After finishing work in the Ohashi area, I got on a bus to Hakata Station. I accidentally got off when I heard the announcement for "Minami Police Station." I arrived at the station at 11:50 am. Inside, there was a sign straight ahead. Following the sign's instructions, everything is self-service. You order and pay at the register first. Then, you are directed to wait at your table. There is a large teapot on the table filled with barley tea. Reserved bento boxes were placed on another table. I ordered the daily special tonkatsu set for 660 yen. They don't serve the classic katsudon, but they have oyakodon, tamagodon, bibimbap, and other menu items. There are also options like champon. As it approaches noon, more police officers start coming in and some take their orders to their seats. They even offered me seconds of rice. The miso soup with cabbage and thin fried tofu, extra rice, thinly sliced but freshly fried tonkatsu, and a side dish were served. The tonkatsu had a strong sauce, and the meat was lean. I didn't need a rice refill since it was already a large portion. After finishing the meal, you return the dishes to the designated area. The restaurant has long hours and could be a good spot for breakfast. I completed my meal and work safely. The police officers were friendly, even greeting me.

I went to this restaurant out of curiosity. I had the boiled dish set meal (daily special), but it wasn't particularly delicious. The atmosphere was also a bit dark. I didn't feel like going back again.
