Shimada Seimenjo has changed its business model to an udon restaurant? I found out about it on Instagram, so I went to eat right away. When I parked at the nearby parking lot, I received a discount coin. I parked my car and headed into the store, but there was a ticket machine next to the entrance. I looked at the menu and decided to go with this limited edition dish: 10 servings limited Tempura Bukkake Udon + mixed rice set, tax included 1,000 yen. The noodles were topped with eggplant tempura, shiitake mushroom tempura, shrimp tempura, shiso leaf tempura, chicken breast tempura, paprika, fresh wakame seaweed, grated daikon radish, green onions, and bonito flakes, among other things, making it so full of toppings that you couldn't see the noodles. When I tried the tempura first, the batter was quite hard and crispy. The texture wasn't great, but because the batter was hard, it didn't absorb the broth easily and didn't get soggy, so it might be a good thing. So, it might be okay for tempura to be this hard when added to udon. There are various tempura options, so you can enjoy them. The noodles were a bit thin, but had a good firm texture. Even though they were thin, they had a strong chewiness and a good flexibility, making them good noodles. The broth that accompanied them had a fairly strong umami flavor and was delicious. I think the broth for bukkake udon should be stronger than regular udon broth and should have a punch to it. Otherwise, the boundary between soup udon and bukkake udon becomes blurred. Lastly, the mixed rice was also well seasoned and quite tasty. Since the tempura batter is hard, it's good to dip it in the rich broth before eating. Both the noodles and the broth were delicious, and it was a satisfying lunch. Thanks for the meal~!
