I thought I wouldn't make it in time for the interview at 16:30, but I just made it. They seem to be troubled by the scallop export issue that is also a hot topic on social media. Although I couldn't find any scallops, Abashiri City is famous for its deep-fried surimi products. Today, there was also a local TV filming in Abashiri City for a TV show targeting foreign visitors. The place I visited today offered a unique style where you pick your desired items on a tray, such as deep-fried trio, deep-fried crab tempura, and deep-fried sea bream tempura, and they fry it for you at the fryer next to the cash register. The oil was clean, and the lady working there was also very nice. The freshly fried food was fluffy and delicious. If this place was nearby, I would definitely become a regular customer.

I was in Abashiri for work and had a tight schedule, so I didn't have much time. I bought a bento at the station and then decided to explore the area to see if there was anything else. I crossed the road and found a shop called "Kitami Food Industry" on the other side. There was no staff inside, but a female employee appeared and greeted me. The shop had a fish tank with live scallops, and they were selling various seafood products, kamaboko, and dried goods. I picked up some kamaboko including "Sankyodai", "Kani-Ten", and "Hotate-Ten" and took them home. I heated them up in a frying pan, added a little soy sauce and shichimi pepper. The kamaboko had a firm and slightly chewy texture with a hint of sweetness, and I thought it would go well with sake. I liked it better than the kamaboko from a major store in Otaru. If you're looking for a souvenir in Abashiri, this would be a good choice. Thank you for the meal.

During my trip to Abashiri with a Seishun 18 ticket in July 2017, I had some time to spare before checking into my hotel. As I wandered around the station, I stumbled upon a kamaboko shop. They were selling freshly fried cheese tempura, so I decided to give it a try. It was delicious, especially when eaten hot and crispy. I think eating kamaboko is a must when visiting a coastal town like this. Thank you for the meal!

You can enjoy delicious and hot kamaboko tempura at a low price. The shrimp has a rich and delicious taste. The most popular pumpkin tempura is sweet and subtly flavored with pumpkin. The crab has a gentle taste. The octopus looks and tastes like takoyaki, and is delicious! It comes with sauce and mayonnaise, but it's tasty even without dipping in the sauce.

This is Abashiri. When it comes to kamaboko, people in Abashiri and Mombetsu think of it, right? ...I think that's what the people in Kitami think. In Hokkaido, Hakodate and Otaru are also famous, but the Okhotsk region is not inferior. Our goal is freshly fried kamaboko~♪ We choose our favorite kamaboko with the provided tongs and tray. We hand it over to the lady at the "freshly fried corner," and she fries it right in front of us. (^ー^) One freshly fried "taiten" for 108 yen. It hasn't been a minute since it was fried. My wife and I said, "Delicious, delicious~" and finished it right away! Then, we had beer at home...♪ "Ebiten" for 108 yen. "Kaniten" for 162 yen. Reheating... Beep♪ It has a firm texture. This kamaboko is slightly sweet, isn't it? It's delicious~. As expected, Abashiri, the birthplace of frozen surimi. (*´ω`*) Alright, let's go to the next kamaboko shop~.

On New Year's Eve, even though my wife had to work and I was alone, the idea of cleaning the house by myself seemed ridiculous, so I decided to go out for lunch near the station. I ended up stopping by a fish cake shop that I had been curious about for a while called "Kitami Food Industry Co., Ltd. Direct Sales Store". It's probably the most popular fish cake shop in Abashiri, out of the four in the area. The shop had more than just fish cakes for sale, but as a local, I was only interested in the fish cakes. It was New Year's Eve, so the shop seemed to be in a half-closed state with limited options available. I ordered a mix of fish cakes called "Three Brothers Dango", and they were delicious. There was a pumpkin variety that tasted like fried food, but it was very tasty. My wife, who was eating it later, also said it was delicious. There was also a crab variety with crab meat inside, but the crab flavor was not very strong. Lastly, there was a vegetable variety with burdock root that had a strong flavor. Overall, the fish cakes from Kitami Food Industry were delicious, even though I had nothing to compare them to since I had been eating the leftovers from other shops.

After living a nomadic life for over half a century, it seems that my time in the Okhotsk region is coming to an end. I heard from a local in Abashiri that the tempura there is delicious, freshly fried. But upon closer inquiry, it seems they were referring to satsuma-age, a type of deep-fried fish cake. In general, it's called "agekama." Back in the 1970s, there was a dish called "satsuma-jiru" in school lunches, which included soggy satsuma-age in a soup, a dish I personally didn't enjoy. To commemorate my time in Okhotsk, I went to see the drift ice, walked around the fishing port from the station, and on my way back, I found the rumored tempura shop where they fry the food right in front of you. I chose the crab-shaped crab tempura and the trio of three skewered pieces, which they fried for me on the spot. The surface was crispy and aromatic, while the inside was moist and piping hot. Indeed, this was delicious. I realized that the children in Abashiri must have eaten well. Although the North Meat Products shop has a retro feel, the lady there was very kind and welcoming.

The store is called Kitami Food Industry, so I thought Kitami was the main store, but it turns out that Abashiri is the headquarters. Similar to Demizu Suisan in Mombetsu, you can pick your favorite fish cakes on a tray and they will fry them for you on the spot. They also sell packaged products, but freshly fried fish cakes are the best. [Menu] - Squid, scallop, crab, pumpkin, shrimp, vegetables, sea bream tempura - Cheese roll, shiso miso roll, three brothers, skewered dumplings Prices range from 108 yen to 216 yen per piece, which is quite reasonable. I bought squid tempura, crab tempura, sea bream tempura, cheese roll, shiso miso roll, and skewered dumplings. They all have a simple homemade taste. The shiso miso roll has miso inside, which is interesting. The sea bream tempura has a slightly sweet taste. Among the ones I tried, I liked the squid tempura and cheese roll the most. I'll try to buy the pumpkin tempura and three brothers next time since they were sold out this time.

On this day, I had work in the Abashiri area. I usually don't eat breakfast at hotels, but after having breakfast at the hotel, I felt a bit unsatisfied and my appetite was stimulated. I searched on Tabelog and found a place near the station where you can get freshly fried fish cakes, so I decided to walk there. The exact location can be found on Tabelog's map. As I walked towards the shop, I was thinking there might not be a parking lot, but there was a parking space next to the shop. It seems you can also visit by car. When I entered the shop, a lady greeted me and helped me choose fish cakes. She recommended squid tempura and pumpkin, so I selected those. I put them on a tray provided in the shop and took them to the register. Next to the register, there was a space for frying the fish cakes, and they were fried right away. While waiting for the fish cakes to be fried, I thought about sending some fish cakes to my home. There were various options priced in the low 1000 yen range, so I chose something affordable and arranged to have it sent to my home. It didn't take more than 5 minutes for the fish cakes to be ready. I received the hot fish cakes and immediately started eating. The flavor of the squid spread in my mouth, and the squid tempura was delicious. The pumpkin also had a sweet taste and was a delicious fish cake. I enjoyed everything. They put the fish cakes in a paper bag so you can easily hold them by hand, making them a good snack for a drive. I visited this place a few times during my stay in Abashiri. The fish cakes I sent to my home were also well received. Thank you very much.

I received crab and scallop kamaboko in 2016 and warmed it up to eat. It definitely lives up to its high price! It has a firm and bouncy texture. Delicious (*´ч`*) The crispy outer layer is similar to a hot dog skin! Even my cat couldn't resist its taste, haha. The scallop had scallop inside! Sometimes they sell them at the entrance of basic or city areas. In the basic version, it's a mobile sales vehicle. It has stairs and a place to put your bag. I love cheese tempura and pumpkin tempura ((^O^)) My mom often buys "tai tempura" (shaped like sea bream) and she likes it. Tai tempura is on the sweeter side (around 980 yen for 10 pieces, I think). They should have it available at the basic store at all times... But, freshly fried and freshly made ones are the best, right?

The texture of the squid and the accent of pickled ginger were great. There was no seating area, so we either had to eat standing up or at a table for writing shipping slips. I wished I could have had it with a cola. - Recommended Point: There are various types of gifts available. The freshly fried tempura is definitely delicious. My mother and I quickly finished eating and left the shop, heading to have lunch in Abashiri.

Solo trip. Stayed at a hotel near Abashiri Station without meals. Checked out around 10 o'clock and walked around the station, and found a shop that was already open. Inside, a friendly smile greeted me and showed me a variety of items displayed. I chose three skewers of fried kamaboko with three grains of corn called "San Kyodai" and a chestnut pumpkin croquette. The fried kamaboko and croquette were freshly fried in plenty of oil for about three minutes. I enjoyed the hot fried kamaboko while looking at the Abashiri River behind me. It was so delicious. It spread happiness all over my mouth. I wanted to keep eating forever, reluctant to swallow. Next was the chestnut pumpkin croquette. The filling was moist and sweet. The contrast with the crispy coating created a delightful experience in my mouth. It wasn't just about being freshly fried, but truly enjoying a rich deliciousness. It was my first time in Abashiri, but there are really delicious shops waiting for you in a simple way. Please come and visit!

I came all the way to Okhotsk, so I decided to visit the winter Notsuke Peninsula. It was too cold to strike a pose in the storm (lol). On the way to Shari, I stumbled upon a direct sales store from Kitami Foods and decided to stop by! They were selling Shinya's scallops at a cheap price! And they also had charcoal-grilled fish cakes for takeout! Scallops are better than crab, right? (o^^o)

Second daughter's family went camping in Iwamizawa. It was their first camping experience, so setting up the tent was a challenge. Next year, they will have one more child, which seems like a lot of work. They brought so much food that they ended up taking some vegetables back home. I came to Abashiri! Since I came to Abashiri, I had to visit the tempura kamaboko shop. This time, I visited Hokkaido Food Industry. It's located in Abashiri, but it's called Hokkaido Food Industry. There is a parking lot next to the shop. I thought it was a shop that only sells kamaboko, but they also have seafood. It might be good for buying souvenirs. Now, the tempura kamaboko I bought includes vegetables, cheese tempura, scallop tempura, crab tempura, and the "Three Brothers". I didn't eat all of them as I also shared them with others. It seemed like they fry them on the spot in the store, but this time I only bought the ones in vacuum packs as I was already full. As expected, the tempura kamaboko from a specialty shop is delicious. The "Three Brothers" had plenty of filling and was satisfying to eat. The cheese in the cheese tempura was surprisingly tasty. I thought it would be a cheap cheese, but it turned out to be real cheese. It was delicious. I'll buy and eat it again. Thank you for the meal!

This is a souvenir shop for seafood products located on the main street in Abashiri. They fry products based on fish surimi on the spot. I chose the Shiso Miso Roll for 108 yen. When it is sold, it is a light pink color, but when fried, it looks like a normal satsuma-age. I sat on the stone steps along the Abashiri River and enjoyed it immediately. Freshly fried food is always delicious. Inside, there is shiso leaf and miso. It has a simple and easy-to-understand flavor. It was a convenient snack for 3 o'clock.

This is a revisit. I finally got to buy freshly fried takoyaki balls. 6 pieces for 400 yen, a bit expensive. But they come with various toppings like mayonnaise, so I decided to buy them. I also purchased vegetable tempura and squid tempura. I waited a bit while they were frying in front of me, but freshly fried food is always a delight! I opened the bag in the car, looking for an easy way to eat. The takoyaki came with mayonnaise, sauce, and toothpicks, so I tried them. Oh, just like takoyaki. But for this price, I prefer the real thing. Afterwards, I tried the other items with rice. Overall, they were a bit on the sweet side. Finally getting to try them was worth it.

I arrived at the restaurant around 5 o'clock on Saturday because I saw on Tabelog that they close at 6 o'clock. However, when I got there, it seemed like the lights were off. I was browsing around when the staff told me, "I'm sorry, we turned off the gas, so we can't fry anything anymore." Oh no! Maybe their business hours changed due to the pandemic. I really came here to eat that dish. They had various unique snacks that could be good souvenirs. But I decided to buy kamaboko, and got shrimp and cheese. I warmed them up in a frying pan when I got home. Maybe I didn't warm them up enough, but the cheese was like sticky rice cake, haha. I hope next time I can try them freshly fried.
