I didn't know the roadside station in the forest had such a complicated name. When heading towards Sapporo from Hakodate, it's too close to stop by, so it was my first time going inside. The local specialty products were enjoyable. I bought sake and smoked goods for the hot springs. The sake seemed to be made with Kirara 397 rice from Morimachi, so is it a local sake?

I am heading from Hakodate to Sapporo and stopping at Morimachi Michi-no-Eki on the way for a restroom break. After that, I wander around the store. There is a counter where you can get coffee, but no one is there so I give up. Inside the store, there is a refrigerated case with local products. I try the "Cheese-filled Bamboo Fish Cake" and "Anpai". The cheese-filled bamboo fish cake is exactly as the name suggests, a bamboo fish cake with cheese inside. It comes in a vacuum pack so it doesn't taste freshly made. The flavor is okay. The "Anpai" is a pie with sweet bean paste inside. The amount of bean paste is surprisingly generous and not too sweet. The pie crust is not crispy. Both items seem more like souvenirs from a gift shop. I will try something different next time. Thank you for the meal.

In December 2018, I received information from a friend living in Hakodate that the brightness in the area has decreased. So, with another friend who planned to visit Hakodate, we decided to go investigate together. On our way there, we stopped at a roadside station and checked out the shops. Since we couldn't find quick fast food options, we bought tempura and kamaboko to snack on. We ate them in the car and continued our journey south. However, our plans to visit Hakodate were changed as my friend got excited listening to my story and we ended up laughing and parting ways. The weather turned bad on our way back, with snow blowing in from passing trucks, making it hard to see ahead. We made it through safely. Here are the dishes we tried at the roadside station: Hokkaido beef sukiyaki-style paper-wrapped parcel which was delicious and didn't need any eggs, spinach, and pumpkin. The locally produced vegetables were fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the beautiful cherry blossoms in the area. As we drove towards Sapporo, I reflected on how Rusutsu Village felt the safest and brightest on the road at night.

I used to stop by here often for food, but it's been a while since I last visited. They have soft serve ice cream (of course, coffee too), but for some reason, I prefer milk. Surprisingly, it's quite good and has a relaxing effect. However, I don't have a strong stomach, so drinking too much is risky. I'd like to stop by when I visit Hakodate.

This is a review of a roadside station near Oniushi Park in Morimachi, Hokkaido. It was the last stop on a short trip to Hakodate. Due to tiredness and the rain, we decided to take the highway back to Sapporo instead of visiting more roadside stations. Before leaving, we noticed a tent selling kamaboko (fish cake) nearby. We bought some kamaboko rolls with octopus and red sausages for a snack on the way home. When we got back, we couldn't wait to start our evening drinks, so we quickly sliced the kamaboko and enjoyed it with beer. The octopus flavor was strong and the texture was chewy, while the red sausage added a nice crunch. It was a delicious combination that we highly recommend trying if you get the chance.

The roadside was lined with cherry blossoms in full bloom. Even at the Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest area), the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. It turns out that Morimachi is a town filled with cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, we couldn't have a cherry blossom viewing due to the pandemic, but we were able to enjoy it here!

I casually stopped by and found a snack for the night! I discovered something called "Squid with Mayonnaise" (310 yen)! It was a delicious snack that went well with alcohol, especially when drizzled with soy sauce or sprinkled with shichimi. I enjoyed it very much!

My husband likes the pickled vegetables here so we stopped by. They have a wide variety of pickled vegetables, and we also bought pickled salmon and herring to take home. The tomatoes we bought here were also delicious.

In the town of Mori in Hokkaido, there is a Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) called "YOU YU Mori," which is the birthplace of "ikameshi." It is made with Hokkaido squid, Hokkaido-grown uruchimai rice, and mochigome (sticky rice). I had it warmed up and enjoyed it at the store, but you can also take it home. It has a slightly salty seasoning, perfect as a side dish for alcohol. They also sell unique items like "konbu monaka" and "charcoal manju," which are interesting!

When I went to buy dried salmon, I noticed that it had been a while since they were made, and the salmon catch has been low. However, the quantity was less than a third of what it used to be, which made me lose my desire to purchase. So, I wandered around feeling disheartened until I saw a sign for soft serve ice cream. I paid at the register first and then showed my receipt. Despite no other customers being around, the staff checked my receipt diligently. The soft serve ice cream I had in Oki during Golden Week was big, creamy, and pure white. But this one was more yellowish, with a smooth appearance. I hurried back to my car to eat it, as a baby in a suit was also there and I felt embarrassed. The wind was strong, causing the ice cream to melt quickly, but it didn't drip. It had a dense texture, almost as if there was no air in it. If only physics were taught in such a delicious way, maybe I would have become a doctor by now. The sweetness was mild, with a rich milk flavor. It was smooth and delicious. It's difficult to describe soft serve ice cream, but Bach and Capone are good at it. When the salmon catch improves, I'll come back.

In May 2016, I took a break with my beloved dog at this Michi no Eki (roadside station). The spacious park is beautiful with cherry blossoms, azaleas, and other flowers in bloom. The parking lot is also large, and it seems that many people are staying overnight in their cars at this Michi no Eki. I took a walk around the Michi no Eki. There was a fish shop selling salmon fillets - 5 pieces for 400 yen! I hesitated due to the low price, but upon closer inspection, I found out that it was a solid local product. I decided to buy it, and they even gave me an extra piece for free! When I grilled it, the salmon was delicious, not too salty, and the miso-marinated one was also very tasty. I should have bought more. Thank you for the meal! ✿ฺ(๑´ڡ`๑)✿ฺ.

At the roadside station YOU・遊・もり, it's time for a little refreshment. Even though it has cooled down a bit, there are still a lot of bugs in this nature-rich place. It's a bit itchy here and there, but that's just how it is. I bought 3 corns for 250 yen at the local produce market. I love the sweetness and flavor of corn when it's boiled. I also enjoy the texture of biting into the kernels. I'll stop here for now. Stay tuned for the next episode - I might visit the restaurant upstairs if I have the chance to stop by again.

In June 2015, I stopped by a roadside station located along Route 5 in Morishichiri, which is a bit off the beaten path. The unique H-shaped building houses a restaurant, local product sales area, and an observation lounge. Behind the building, there is a well-maintained park called Oniushi Park. There is a large parking lot for about 100 cars in front of the building. Initially, I only planned to take a restroom break, but ended up checking out the local product sales area as well. The sales area is located on the right side of the first floor, with shelves displaying various products, including seafood processed goods which seemed to be the specialty. I was drawn to the sign saying "Exclusive in-store sales, popular products!" and bought "Salmon Jerky (250g) for 1,350 yen" for myself, while my companion who loves octopus bought "Octopus Tonbi (150g) for 648 yen" from Maruwa Octopus Shop. The salmon jerky, which I enjoyed with a midday beer at the inn I was staying at, was from Richwell and according to the Fresh Direct Net website, it is exclusively sold online. The sign saying "Exclusive in-store sales, popular products!" seemed to be true, as the jerky was indeed delicious. The stick-shaped jerky was easy to eat, skinless, slightly tough, with a simple salt seasoning. It lacked a bit of initial impact, but had a refreshing aftertaste and a gradual umami flavor from the salmon. I quite liked it and even enjoyed the remaining jerky lightly grilled at home, which made it tender and fragrant, perfect with beer. I would definitely purchase it again if I stop by this roadside station.

This is a soft serve ice cream review ^^ This time, it's about YOU・遊・もり, a roadside station in Morimachi. Whenever you go to a roadside station, you expect to find soft serve ice cream, right? That's the simple idea I had when I visited without doing any research. The location is in Kamidaimachi, Morimachi, along the national highway. If you're coming from the highway, it's about 2 kilometers from the Moro Interchange towards Sapporo. The building has an arched exterior, with a park in front called Oniushi Park. On the right side of the arched area, there is a specialty product sales area where the town's specialty products are sold. I went inside and ordered a vanilla soft serve. The soft serve flavors available were vanilla, chocolate, and mix. I chose vanilla. When I asked for the soft serve, there was no one at the soft serve machine. The staff were gathered at a distance. One person came over and I paid for the soft serve. The price was 280 yen. I took it and decided to eat it in the park behind. It was a typical soft serve, nothing special in taste or presentation. But it was fine, as long as I could eat it. The price was normal too. The review of this soft serve would not make a picky reviewer cry, as it was just average in every aspect. It might be easier to write a review if it was ridiculously expensive. In the product sales area, the local specialty dish, ikameshi, seemed to be popular. There is also an observation lounge with a nice view, although I didn't have time to check it out this time. It seems like a good place for a quick break when passing through National Route 5.

On the second floor of a roadside station, I tried a dish called Nagatsuka Don, made with a fish called Nagatsuka. I had never heard of this fish before, so I was a bit puzzled when I ate it. Later, I learned that Nagatsuka is a long, slender fish. When I tried it, I was surprised to find that it was a fluffy white fish with a strong flavor, unlike the mild taste of cod. It was topped with a sweet and savory sauce, making it even more delicious. My wife was eating soy sauce ramen next to me, and when I tried just the soup, it was simple but very tasty, made with a seafood and chicken broth. On the first floor, they also sold famous sweets, and their pumpkin pie was outstanding! I usually don't like pumpkin-flavored sweets and don't eat much pumpkin, but after trying their pumpkin pie, my taste completely changed. Whenever I go to Hakodate, I always end up buying a lot of their products. The quality of the seafood and agricultural products in the area is so high that everything I tried was delicious! The interior and menu may be plain, but the food is amazing!

As expected, at the Michi-no-Eki in Morimachi, famous for its squid rice, they were selling various types of squid rice. But the orthodox soy sauce flavor looked the most delicious. The second-floor restaurant had a variety of menus including ramen. There was also a snack corner in the parking lot of the Michi-no-Eki where they served squid rice. I tried the "Hotate Zangi" there. It was deep-fried baby scallops and was quite delicious while still hot.

This is a restaurant on the second floor of a roadside station along National Route 5. They offer a variety of dishes such as curry, noodles, rice dishes, and set meals, but since this place is close to Hakodate, the salt ramen is a must-try. The salt ramen for 500 yen features a clear and light salt broth with medium-thin curly noodles. It is topped with diagonally sliced green onions, soft menma, and wheat gluten. The chashu consists of two slices of thinly sliced large pork chashu. If you're still hungry, try the sweet and savory ikameshi instead of plain rice.
