Curry Bento (Chicken Curry) for 550 yen. This time, I tried the Chicken Curry instead of the Keema Curry at the Katano store. The staff at the store were very friendly. The Chicken Curry had a moderate spiciness level, even my friend who can't handle spicy food was okay with it. The curry had a slightly sweet taste, typical of Indian Nepalese style curry. It had a good amount of chicken pieces mixed in. The rice was moist and had a turmeric flavor. At the Katano store, they used thin, white Indica rice. It also came with pickled ginger, while at the Katano store, it was pickled mustard greens. Namaste! Indian Nepalese style curry! You can pay with PayPay.

After dyeing my hair a bold red color, I went to eat with my mom ^^ This place is close to my parents' house so I often go here. They offer a free-flowing vegetable soup that I, a soup lover, really appreciate. The staff are all foreigners, maybe from Nepal or India, I'm not sure, but they are friendly and have a relaxed vibe, sitting at the register watching videos. The daily curry special was shrimp, I think? They have different levels of spiciness from 0 to 20 or 30. I can't handle spicy food so I always go for the 0 spiciness, almost like Anpanman curry, and eat it with naan. The naan is all-you-can-eat, but it's heavy so my mom and I can only manage one extra piece each. The salad is also delicious, especially the dressing. The mango lassi is also tasty. Highly recommended!

SAI RAM, located in the former Meena restaurant, feels more like a change in name rather than a completely new establishment. The menu still retains some of Meena's dishes, and existing coupons and membership cards from Meena can still be used here. The restaurant boasts of offering authentic Indian cuisine that has been adjusted to suit Japanese tastes, prepared by skilled chefs. While the concept of "authentic Indian cuisine" and "adjusted to suit Japanese tastes" may seem contradictory, let's not dwell on that too much. The menu seems to have expanded slightly to include both Indian curries and Nepalese dishes since my last visit three years ago. When asked, it was mentioned that there are chefs from both India and Nepal working here. The staff, who are fluent in Japanese, are likely from Nepal. After some consideration, I ordered a Nepalese dish, while my companion opted for an Indian set. We tried the Momos (Nepalese spiced dumplings), Sajiko (stir-fried gizzard), and Cheese Naan Set. The Momos were delicious, with a nice texture and subtle spice flavors. The Sajiko was flavorful but a bit too strong for my taste. The Cheese Naan was unique with honey drizzled on top, making it almost like a dessert. The service was friendly, the ambiance was pleasant, and overall, it's a great place for families to enjoy a meal.

I suddenly felt like eating Indian curry, so I searched on Tabelog and visited a nearby restaurant. However, I remembered that the Japan Series starts today, and I wanted to watch it at home (I'm a fan of the Orix team), so I decided to get takeout instead. I ordered Palak Mix Seafood, Spinach Chicken, Keema Curry, and Cheese Naan. The restaurant claimed to serve "authentic Indian curry," but to my taste buds, it felt more like Nepalese curry - "Indian curry made by Nepalese people." I'm not completely sure, so if I'm wrong, I apologize to the Indian chefs. The flavor lacked the mild spiciness that I expected. I haven't been to many authentic Indian restaurants, and I've never been to India itself (it's one of the countries I want to visit), but even with my limited experience, I could tell that it was a bit different. It's not that Nepalese curry is bad, so please don't misunderstand me. It's like ordering ramen at a ramen shop and getting cold soba - it's just not what you were in the mood for. I just felt a bit disappointed because I was expecting "authentic Indian" flavors. However, I wonder if there is a restaurant in Kitakyushu that serves truly authentic Indian cuisine. I can't think of one off the top of my head (I can already hear someone saying "It's K○LA!" but I haven't been there yet, haha).

◉Genre: Curry, Indian cuisine, Nepalese cuisine ◉Area: Numacho, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: About 15 minutes by car from JR Shimozono Station ◉Parking: Available ◉Credit card payment: Not available ◉Number of visits: First visit ◉Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I visited "Sairam" on a whim. ◇Exterior and Interior This Indian restaurant is located in Numacho, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City. They specialize in authentic curry, as well as other Indian and Nepalese dishes. It used to be called BENA, but it has been reborn (the theory that only the name has changed is unverified). ◇Seating I opted for takeout on this day, so I will skip this section. ◇Menu Structure They offer a regular menu with individual curries, tandoori dishes, salads, and other Indian and Nepalese options. They also have sets and courses available. The dishes I ordered were as follows: - Pork Rara (880 yen) → excluding tax Today, I was in the mood for a dish with a lot of flavor. When I think of something spicy, curry comes to mind, so I headed to BENA. However, the name of the restaurant has changed, but it's the same type of cuisine in the same location. I placed my order confidently. The individual curries at this restaurant can be customized in terms of spiciness, ranging from mild to extremely spicy, and it's free. I opted for the extremely spicy option. The Pork Rara seemed to be similar to a Keema dish in terms of color. The pork pieces were not large, but they were flavorful. The large chunks of onions added a nice crunchy texture. However, I started sweating on my forehead midway through the meal, despite being in a room with air conditioning. But the dish paired well with alcohol, and the unique flavor might make me want to come back for more. ◆Strengths Indian curry with free customization of spiciness! ◆Service They provide excellent hospitality. They even offered soup while I was waiting, which was appreciated. ◆Conclusion I am still a novice in this cuisine. I am not very knowledgeable, but my intellectual curiosity is gradually growing. I need to train my mental strength so that I don't end up like with coffee. Thank you for the meal.
