Come to think of it, there was no beef bowl on the menu. When I checked, beef bowl was no longer available. Nakau is no longer a beef bowl place. They even got rid of my favorite meat udon. Before it was acquired by Sukiya, they used to use high-quality eggs and the broth had a great flavor, but the one I had today had overcooked eggs and the broth was a simple sweet and savory soy sauce flavor without depth, like an instant taste, which was disappointing.

On a business trip to Osaka, I went to Nakatsu for drinks. Today, I had drinks at "Tanagokoro" in Umeda, then went to a lounge for a second round, and took a taxi back to Nakatsu. Feeling a bit hungry, I decided to eat at "Nakau." I ordered a Kirin Ichiban Shibori draft beer and a charcoal-grilled oyakodon. The oyakodon had a creamy egg and was delicious. I enjoyed it!

Nakau has locations in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and even Kumamoto, but not in Fukuoka. I've always wanted to try the beef bowl from Nakau, one of the top four beef bowl chains alongside Yoshinoya, Sukiya, and Matsuya. But when I travel, I prefer to try something unique to that location. I planned to finish my day with Goto Udon and chicken mayo teriyaki don, but due to the last subway train, I only had time to eat Goto Udon. When I got off at Nakatsu Station, I saw the glowing signs of Tenkaippin and Nakau. Tenkaippin is also in Hakata, and since I had noodles earlier, I decided to try Nakau! I thought it was a beef bowl chain, but they had oyakodon instead. However, I was in the mood for a beef bowl. It had green onions and shredded konjac, and it was a bit different from Yoshinoya and Sukiya with the addition of onions. The broth was similar to sukiyaki, so it was definitely delicious.

Nakau Nakatsu Ichichome Store is located right outside the exit of Nakatsu Station on the Osaka Municipal Subway Midosuji Line. Since it is within walking distance from Umeda Station, I decided to have dinner at Nakatsu Ichichome Store, which I had never been to before. I was very hungry that day, so I decided to try both a regular-sized rice bowl dish and a regular-sized noodle dish. I spent 900 yen at Nakau. The rice bowl dish was the regular-sized Gyudon (beef bowl) for 350 yen, and the noodle dish was the regular-sized 5 Vegetable Cold Tantan Udon for 550 yen. This was my first time trying the 5 Vegetable Cold Tantan Udon. It is a udon version of the common cold Tantan noodles. It seems that at Nakau, combining sesame sauce with cold udon is popular, as seen in dishes like the Zaru Udon with sesame sauce and this Cold Tantan Udon. The sesame sauce coats the udon well, giving it a very smooth texture. The spiciness from the chili pepper, typical of Tantan noodles, is also well pronounced. The 5 Vegetable Cold Tantan Udon had plenty of vegetables on top. While there was a lot of shredded cabbage, its crunchy texture paired well with the smooth Tantan sauce. It can be enjoyed almost like a salad, so it might be a good idea to pair a small size with a rice bowl dish. It was delicious. The Gyudon is a staple menu item at Nakau. To save money (since combining a regular-sized rice bowl with the 5 Vegetable Cold Tantan Udon would exceed 1,000 yen), I opted for the Gyudon. Nakau's Gyudon has plenty of sauce. Personally, I find it difficult to eat Gyudon with chopsticks, so I always use a spoon. The seasoning is on the sweeter side, giving it a taste similar to sukiyaki with a Japanese flavor.
