The "makanaidon" for 1200 yen with extra rice for 50 yen, along with miso soup, chawanmushi, and squid salted guts, were all incredibly delicious. Personally, it was a level of amazement. The "makanaidon" had a variety of toppings that made me wonder how many types of ingredients were used. It was enjoyable to add wasabi or sesame sauce according to your preference. I assume this place is probably a high-end sushi restaurant at night, but I think it's very affordable for lunch. Next time, I want to try the mackerel mentaiko don or the kampachi don. PayPay payment is accepted.

Today's lunch was in the mood for a burger, so I decided to walk towards the Maruyama Park area. On the way, I unexpectedly found an information board for a sushi restaurant called "Sushi Restaurant Su". I had read positive reviews about this place from MyRebi and had tried to go for lunch multiple times, but it was always closed. I thought if I didn't take this opportunity, I might miss out on trying it again. So, I decided to go in! The restaurant had a capacity of 7 counter seats, 2 tables for 4 people, and 1 table for 4 people. It was 11:35, just after opening, so I was the first customer. The friendly owner greeted me and recommended a seat at the counter, where I sat. I wanted to order the "Mackerel and Spicy Cod Roe Bowl (1,200 yen, tax included)" as listed on the information board, but unfortunately, they were out of good mackerel. So, I changed my order to the "Chef's Choice Bowl (1,200 yen)" and mentioned my dislike for certain types of sushi in advance. I was served a steamed egg custard and marinated squid appetizer. The warm steamed egg custard was comforting on the slightly chilly day. While waiting for my bowl, I chatted with the owner until another customer arrived. The bowl arrived, with octopus, flounder, amberjack, flying fish roe, imitation crab, and more. I was instructed to pour sesame sauce or wasabi soy sauce over it. The seared amberjack added a nice touch to the predominantly white fish selection. The sushi rice had white sesame seeds for added texture. The bowl reminded me of a local dish from Oita called "Ryukyu". The standout for me was the miso soup, which was simply delicious. Overall, it was a fantastic lunch at a restaurant I had been curious about. Thank you for the meal.

Continuing from the previous day, I visited a restaurant called "Shima," which was introduced on my favorite local gourmet TV show "Maiu~." They offer sushi at night and local dishes. For lunch, they focus on rice bowls. The atmosphere inside is calm and traditional Japanese. They have counter seats and table seats, and since I was alone, I chose the counter seat. I was torn between the "makanaidon" and the "saba menta-don" that were featured on TV, but I ended up ordering the latter (1200 yen). In addition to the rice bowl, I got a small side dish, seaweed and squid tentacles with white miso dressing, all with careful attention to detail. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was piping hot. The main dish, the saba menta-don, had plenty of seared mackerel, and the refreshing aroma of the decorated cabbage added a nice touch. The spicy mentaiko (marinated roe) complemented the dish well. The miso soup was also delicious. This place seems like a great spot to enjoy sushi and other dishes.

During a weekday afternoon visit, there were no other customers. The lunch menu mainly consists of rice bowl dishes. I was intrigued by the Mackerel and Spicy Cod Roe Rice Bowl, but since this was my first time here... I decided to order the daily special rice bowl. It was served in less than 10 minutes, and it looked small and elegant. I started with the miso soup, which had a nice balance of miso flavor without being too strong. The soup was delicious! This raised my expectations for the rest of the meal. Next, I tried the small side dish of squid marinated in shochu. It was also very good. Now onto the main dish, which had salmon, octopus, flounder, yellowtail, and flying fish roe. You pour the sauce from a separate dish over the ingredients. The sweet vinegar rice combined with the rich sesame sauce was unexpectedly flavorful. The yellowtail had a nice sear on it, adding a punch to the overall taste. I love sashimi, especially when it's seared or marinated in kombu. These extra touches really elevate the dish. The restaurant also had proper hygiene measures in place. This is a great place to enjoy various rice bowl dishes easily. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the meal.

We stopped by this place with my colleagues before heading to the second party. The counter was full, but luckily there was a slightly open area for us. Although we were supposed to eat sushi, we had already eaten a decent amount during the first party, so we just ordered some appetizers and sashimi. The sashimi was carefully prepared with high-quality ingredients, and each dish we ordered was delicious. However, the prices were a bit on the higher side (understandable for a high-end sushi restaurant). Next time, when we have more budget, I would like to try their sushi.

Located in a building near the Hakata-ku Tenjin-cho and Reisen Park, this sushi restaurant may look intimidating from the outside, but inside, it has a bright and welcoming atmosphere. With a wide variety of dishes based on daily fresh ingredients, it's a hidden gem that is great for casual drinking. After a night where the boss was in a good mood and covered all the drinking expenses, I decided to try a restaurant I wouldn't normally go to, in the outskirts of Nakasu. I found a sushi restaurant that I didn't recognize and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, I could hear the light laughter of other customers, creating a relaxed atmosphere. I sat at the counter and ordered a cold sake. I chose a Fukuoka sake called "Aota" Junmai, which had a floral aroma and smooth taste that paired well with the sashimi. I ordered the chef's choice sashimi, starting with sesame mackerel, which was delicious. Then came a variety of sashimi including flounder with sea urchin, seared red snapper, and fresh octopus. Each piece was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The restaurant allowed smoking at the counter, which was a bit of a downside, but the overall experience was still enjoyable. I also ordered a chef's choice nigiri set, which included various types of fish like flounder, shrimp, eel, and seared beef. Each piece had a different balance of flavors and textures, showing the skill of the chef. I added some sea urchin, salmon roe, and hand rolls to round out the meal. In the end, I paid 10,000 yen for the chef's choice sashimi, nigiri, and a bottle of cold sake. The chef and the hostess were friendly, making it a pleasant dining experience.

I was taken by a customer and visited this place. We had fugu, horse mackerel, flounder, sea urchin, salmon roe, tuna (I love akami), chawanmushi, and various other dishes. It started with sashimi and then moved on to nigiri. As the title suggests, salmon caught in Japanese waters is called "sake" and salmon caught in foreign waters is called "salmon." I didn't know that! Even among salmon, there are some that stay in the same area and are known for their delicious fatty meat. (But salmon, in general, is cheaper and fatty!) I can't provide detailed information about high-end ingredients, but they served shredded daikon and nori rolls as a palate cleanser, which was delicious. The freshness of the ingredients was excellent. I was soothed by the wonderful chef and his beautiful wife.

The sashimi platter with sesame mackerel, octopus, tuna, and horse mackerel was of good quality. The fugu shirako (blowfish sperm sac) nigiri with conger eel and abalone was a pleasant surprise, especially because they were grilled instead of boiled. The pieces were large and easy to eat. The conger eel nigiri was subtly sweet, while the abalone was thick and tender. The only downside was that there was too much kanpyo (gourd strips) in the kanpyo maki roll, making it a bit overwhelming. Overall, the quality of the fish and the value for money were good, even though it didn't quite live up to the initial excitement of my first visit four years ago. I would still consider returning in the future.
