"Image and limited menu update" I was about to become a lunch refugee, so I had lunch at the nearest Yoshinoya from my company! From June 2nd, the limited menu item "Mugi-Toro Gomoku Gohan" was available ● Hearty and healthy ■ Mugi-Toro Gyudon Regular Size 580 yen Large Size 680 yen ■ Mugi-Toro Unagi Gohan Regular Size 880 yen ● I tried Yoshinoya's eel for the first time! ■ Mugi-Toro Unagi Gohan Tororo, barley rice, eel, okra, miso soup all served on a tray! It appeared quickly, almost like the quick service of a beef bowl (laughs). Eels that have quickly become a super high-end ingredient due to a lack of young fish in the fishing industry are served at this price, so I was a bit skeptical... The eel placed on the tray is small and thin, almost like half a piece. I wonder if it's a pre-cooked retort product finished in the microwave? It was fluffy and hot inside, but there was no chewiness at all. The taste of the sauce is strong, overshadowing the taste of the eel. The barley rice is added on top of the white rice, and the barley flavor seems a bit lacking. The tororo is grated slightly coarsely, which is quite authentic and delicious compared to the commercial tororo used in stand-up soba shops, etc. The chopped okra side dish is delicious as usual. I tried putting the eel on top of the barley rice with tororo! The taste of the sauce of the eel wins. The slightly too sweet taste of the sauce is mitigated by the tororo, creating a good balance. I finished it by scooping it up without chewing much. It was satisfying in a way, but not entirely... However, I did feel like I had eaten eel! Personally, I like tororo, so I wouldn't mind a menu like Mugi-Toro Don. Thank you for the meal! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you ever feel like eating at a major beef bowl chain even though you don't usually use it? And which chain do you like the most? I've always been a fan of Yoshinoya, the original chain. It's probably because the first beef bowl I ate as a child was from Yoshinoya, so it's the most familiar to me. I do eat at other chains as well, but I prefer Yoshinoya. On this day, I had a sudden craving for a beef bowl (laughs) and headed to "Yoshinoya Chuo-odori Fukae Bridge Store" near my company! ● This is the kind of restaurant it is. The store is a street store with a parking lot along the westbound lane of Chuo-dori. There is no drive-thru. It was closed for renovation until May 13th, so I don't know the details of the renovated interior. Yoshinoya... In 1899 (Meiji 32), Yoshinoya was born as a personal shop in the fish market in Nihonbashi. In 1926, when the era changed from Taisho to Showa, it moved to Tsukiji along with the market and established a shop, which is now the "Tsukiji No. 1 Store." In 1980, the company filed for reorganization and later became a subsidiary of Seibu. Currently, it has about 1,200 stores in Japan and about 670 stores in the United States and various Asian countries, totaling about 1,900 stores. They are also developing new initiatives such as the "Yoshinomi" business where you can enjoy izakaya-style dining and "Soba-dokoro Yoshinoya" where you can enjoy 100% soba noodles. ● Revival!
