It's a chain store, so I wasn't expecting much, but surprisingly it's a good place! You can freely order 3 drinks and cucumber, grilled peach, and chicken nanban are all delicious. The additional grilled onions we ordered were also good. The smoking area may divide opinions. The drinks are plentiful and satisfying.

I was taken to this restaurant by a colleague. I didn't know there was such a place. Lemon sour for 190 yen? Seriously?! The small and cozy atmosphere with a counter and tables is nice. There's a TV next to the counter, making it solo-friendly. Seseri-yaki and chicken thigh skewers would be enough for me. It seems like in Kansai, there are many yakitori restaurants that don't serve skewers. The selection of sake is quite good too. They pour generously, which gets me excited. I think I'll end up coming here often.

Thursday at 7:00 pm, there were 2 groups of customers ahead of us. We were asked if we had a reservation, but we didn't, so we were seated at the counter. It seems like this place is quite popular. We ordered the smashed cucumber and chicken sashimi. The cucumber wasn't marinated with salt, so it was bland and had a strange bitterness to it. The chicken also seemed like it was from the supermarket. I don't think I'll be visiting again. Why is this place so popular?

It's disappointing that the state of emergency has been extended until May 7th, but there's nothing we can do about it. I decided to go to Higo Bridge and try one of my favorite alleyway shops, even though it was still early. Luckily, there was a seat available, so I went in. I ordered the "Chicken Tempura with Grated Daikon and Ponzu Sauce" from the menu board. The dish was prepared quickly and arrived in 7-8 minutes. It looked delicious! The miso soup was served first, and it was packed with ingredients like daikon radish, konjac, and fish cakes. I can never resist such hearty soups. The tempura was crispy and slightly spicy, which I liked. The rice was also delicious, and I finished it quickly. I even asked for a refill of the miso soup. I enjoyed every bite and left feeling satisfied. I will definitely come back here again, as the hearty miso soup and tasty rice complemented the flavorful tempura perfectly. It was a great lunch experience. Chicken Tempura with Grated Daikon and Ponzu Sauce: 800 yen, Rice: 300 yen.

In the evening, I received the usual message from a friend letting me know they were heading home. This was the signal that it was time to go out for drinks. We decided to meet in Honmachi for a change of pace. As we wandered around Honmachi, we stumbled upon a slightly retro-looking restaurant in a corner of Kyomachi-bori. It seemed like a good spot for a casual drink, so we decided to give it a try. The interior had a Showa-era vibe, perfect for two guys. We ordered some draft beer and cheers. For snacks, we decided on a few dishes - grilled sweet potato, grilled chicken neck with ponzu sauce, and a charcoal-grilled dish that seemed to be the specialty of the house. The food was simple yet different from typical chain restaurants, with a taste more akin to an izakaya. We enjoyed the dishes while having a couple of drinks, feeling like it was the perfect spot for a post-work drink with colleagues. After a quick meal, we left the restaurant and headed to our usual spot. Overall rating: 3.22

I was wandering around near Higobashi thinking about having a drink before heading home, and I came across this yakitori restaurant chain that left a good impression on me, so I decided to go in. There were regular customers at the counter with a one-liter bottle of sweet potato shochu, enjoying their drinks alone. Apparently, you can keep the bottle there for up to six months. I started with a shochu highball and they brought out some appetizers. The yakitori made with local chicken grilled over charcoal was recommended, so I ordered that. It was cooked in the style of Miyazaki, which was really good. I got the small size, but I think the regular size would have been better due to the small portion. I also tried the grilled cartilage, which had a nice crunchy texture. Overall, it's a good place for a casual drink, but on this day there was a noisy group of young people, so I decided to leave early. I recommend checking the atmosphere inside before entering if you're looking for a more relaxed drinking experience. They also have a 3000 yen all-you-can-drink plan, so I think it's more geared towards younger customers.

This time, we visited the restaurant with a great coupon deal. My friend's son is a 2nd year junior high school student. Since he was little, we always took him out for a meal on his birthday, and he still happily comes along. We went to Jidori Tei Kyomachi-bori this time. The deal included a 150-minute all-you-can-drink option. My friend drinks beer, but the two of us just had tea or juice. Jidori Tei is famous for its cucumber pickles, which even people who don't like cucumbers enjoy. The Ban Ban Jee-style salad served as an appetizer was delicious with bean sprouts, onions, lettuce, clams, and chicken breast. The specialty chicken tataki had a great texture, probably because it's made with local chicken. The popular chicken nanban fry was a hit with the junior high school student. The grilled chicken skin also had a nice chewy texture. The flavors were just right, unlike the slightly strong seasoning we experienced at another branch in Okunimachi. The cabbage that came with the meal was also tasty. By the time we got to the charcoal-grilled chicken thighs, we were quite full. The wings were crispy and delicious. The fried tofu disappeared quickly as it was a nice change from all the chicken dishes. The tail was a bit much, but we managed to eat it all. We even had some leftovers to take home. And then came the huge portion of zosui rice porridge. It was so much that three people couldn't finish it. I ended up eating three bowls because it was so tasty. But there was still some left. The price was surprisingly cheap for the amount of food and drinks we had. I almost felt guilty. Jidori Tei was delicious as always. Next time, I think I'll go for a la carte instead of a course menu. Can't finish all that food! (laughs)

I visited Jidori-Tei Kyoto Machibori store. It's a chain restaurant with a few locations. The restaurant has a counter, tatami seating for 10 people, and three tables for 4 people each. They mainly serve chicken dishes here. If you go with 4 people or more, you get a complimentary 1-liter bottle of shochu (with a Gurunavi coupon). They also offer a 2-hour all-you-can-eat and drink option for 3000 yen (cannot be combined with the shochu service). Today, I had quite a bit to drink, so my taste buds are a bit dull, but the Nanban Fry (580 yen) was really good with its sweet vinegar taste. Today, I had a lot of shochu, so I enjoyed the Tori Tataki (980 yen) which was tender and well-prepared. The grilled dishes were tasty, but the chicken thigh and tenderloin were slightly overcooked and had a charcoal smell. However, that didn't bother me much because of the alcohol. The portions are generous, making it a great value for both drinkers and eaters. The lunch set is around 700 yen with a huge portion. Overall, I think it's a good restaurant for salarymen to enjoy. Taste: ★★★☆☆ (Grilled dishes were a bit disappointing, but the rest was delicious) Service: ★★★☆☆ (Shochu service, all-you-can-eat and drink option available, they are trying their best) Atmosphere: ★★☆☆☆ (Feels like a regular izakaya) Value: ★★★★☆ (Generous portions make it affordable. If you use the shochu service, your alcohol bill will be slightly reduced)
