都そば 長瀬店@東大阪市菱屋西
Located about a 1-minute walk from Nagase Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line in Higashi-Osaka City, there is a restaurant called "Miyako Soba Nagase Store". The day after spending the evening drinking with classmates, we visited two places in Uehonmachi High High Town, then sang our hearts out at a nearby karaoke, and eventually ended up at a snack bar in Hyotanayama run by another classmate, where we stayed until morning. It was a Sunday, and even though I wanted to sleep all day, we had another drinking party scheduled from 12 pm onwards.
Feeling a bit peckish, we decided to stop by this place right in front of Nagase Station. The interior only had a single row of counters, which could accommodate about 7-8 people. There was no ticket machine, so we had to place our orders verbally. Apart from noodles, they also offered tempura, yakitori, and onigiri. It all looked so delicious, but we were still planning to continue drinking and eating later on.
We ordered the Ginger Tempura Soba for 380 yen. After paying at the counter, we received our order. The ginger tempura was not thinly sliced but finely chopped and made into tempura. It had a slight crispy texture and a hint of sweet and sour flavor, which was delightful. The broth seemed to be a combination of bonito flakes and kelp, with a slightly strong soy sauce flavor that I personally enjoyed. The crunchy green onions added a nice touch.
The noodles were the usual type that easily breaks when chewed, lacking the typical soba flavor, but it was perfect for a standing soba joint. Priced at 380 yen, you can't expect too much, and that's just fine. I finished the whole bowl in 3 minutes.
Looking back, I realized that this was probably my first time trying Miyako Soba, even though I often eat standing soba. I checked on Tabelog and found out that there are 22 stores in Osaka, 14 in Hyogo, and 4 in Kyoto. Surprisingly, they haven't been successful in Nara and Wakayama. Maybe I had some sort of chain store allergy, which is why I hadn't noticed them before. But after trying the Ginger Tempura Soba, which was as good as any individual store, I'll definitely be using this place more often when I need a quick bite.
