This is a spice curry restaurant located in Shichijo Kawaramachi. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from Kyoto Station, depending on where you get off. The staff are all women and the atmosphere is cozy and café-like. I ordered the "Aigake Curry" with a choice of "Spicy Chicken Keema Curry" and "Coconut Curry". The chicken keema was mild and the coconut curry was delicious. I also had an iced chai which had a strong tea flavor. This restaurant is a rare find in Kyoto for spice curry lovers. It's close to Kyoto Station and worth knowing about if you love curry.

I had pork keema and chicken curry with papadum as toppings. The papadum was only 80 yen, which is quite a rare and affordable price! The curry was so delicious that I finished it in no time because I was so hungry. The chicken curry had a sharp spice flavor, while the pork keema had a gentle spiciness that showed its high quality. The lentils in between were tasty too, which was a pleasant surprise for me. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and the owner was humble throughout, which I can see why it's popular. However, the drinks were a bit pricey, and personally, I felt that the dishes were a bit too well-rounded and lacked a strong punch.

This is a bit hard to find. It's in a narrow alley off Higashikikoji-dori at the intersection with Shichijo-dori. I couldn't find it wandering around Kawaramachi Street at all. There were other interesting shops in this alley too. I barely managed to get a seat when I entered. The menu is simple, you choose two types of curry to mix. However, I made a grave mistake. I ended up choosing Pork Keema and Chicken Keema. Keema and Keema, I couldn't tell the difference. I should have just gone with a regular Chicken Curry. But I did understand that it was delicious. The spiciness was just right and I was very satisfied. I will definitely visit again. It's suitable for coming with a partner you are already dating.

On Saturday, the weather was bad, so I took JR and Keihan to Rokujyo to buy sake. After finishing shopping, I looked for a place for lunch and found that Kujikappu near Nanajo Kawaramachi was full. I walked a little further and luckily managed to get a table at a place in Nanajo Kawaramachi around 12:30, even though it was peak time. I ordered Keema and Keema mix. The chicken was quite spicy, but when mixed with pork, it was just right. Inside the restaurant, there were tall guys and two beautiful ladies, one of whom was in charge of the floor. The customers seemed to be mostly student couples.

I ordered the mixed curry pork keema curry & coconut curry, as well as the fried pork keema curry. Both the fried pork and keema were delicious, but the coconut curry was especially amazing, with a rich and flavorful coconut taste that was truly impressive. The onions served on the side were also very tasty. The fried chicken pieces were quite large, and the batter was light and crispy.

Located almost halfway between Kyoto Station and Nanao Station. I visited on a Friday afternoon, and I was lucky that they were open as it seemed they were closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in October. I was even luckier that the curry and coffee at this place were delicious. You choose between option A and B for the curry, and I ordered the spicy chicken keema curry and coconut curry with an egg topping for 1200 yen. It paired perfectly with cumin rice and pickles. It seems to be run by two young women, and they have some serious skills. I had some time, so I ordered coffee, which was tastier than most cafes around. They ground and brewed the beans right after I ordered, and it was really delicious. Kyoto has many famous curry shops, and this place is definitely up there with the best of them.

The atmosphere is nice. The curry had a lot of kasuri methi, which may divide opinions due to its strong aroma. Maybe it could have been a bit less. It cost 1,150 yen for a combination of two types. I wanted to go for the chicken and coconut combination, but it wasn't available. So, I chose pork and chicken instead. By the end, I felt like something was missing. Maybe I should have gone for the spicy option?

Visited on Sunday around 12:30 pm. I passed by and thought the restaurant looked delicious, so I decided to go in. It was full, so I had to wait a bit. Ordered two types of curry: spicy chicken keema curry and coconut curry. The spicy curry had just the right amount of spiciness!

It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, but the entrance is a bit hard to find. The restaurant is called Asipai Kyoto, a spice curry restaurant. I visited in late August, just in time for the lunch last order. I walked towards the restaurant and found the entrance a bit tricky to locate. I followed a group of four students who seemed to be heading to the same place. We walked down a narrow alley and arrived at the entrance. The restaurant was full, so I had to wait outside for a bit. After about 10 minutes, I was seated at the counter right by the entrance. The menu only had curry options, and you could choose the type of curry, toppings, and drinks. I opted for a combination of Pork Keema Curry and Chicken Curry, while my companion chose Pork Keema Curry and Spicy Chicken Keema Curry. The curry had a complex flavor with a good amount of spices, but not too spicy. My companion added some Green Chili Oil for extra heat. The curry did not make me sweat too much. My companion had a beer with lunch, and I had a hot coffee afterwards. We were able to enjoy our lunch leisurely until the end of the lunchtime period. The restaurant is run by two women and is a small curry place hidden in a back alley. It was a pleasant lunch experience. I had come to Kyoto this summer to see Brian Eno's sound and light installation at the Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank. It was a bit of a surreal and mysterious experience, but everyone may interpret it differently. It was like a magical kaleidoscope of sound and light. The venue was about 400m from Kyoto Chuo Shinkin, where Asipai was located. I'm glad I went to check it out. Thank you for the meal.

At night, I had dinner at a restaurant in Gion Shijo Kawaramachi and ordered the Otsu Curry. I chose the Chicken Keema Curry and Coconut Curry combination (1150 yen + 60 yen for extra rice). It seemed like this was a popular choice among other customers as well. Of course, it was delicious. I feel the need to replenish my Ajipai intake regularly.

It was raining on Friday at 1:00 PM and there was one customer already in the restaurant. I spotted a curry-focused restaurant in an interesting alley. Since I had already eaten, I just went in for a coffee. The interior of the restaurant had a DIY feel, with a sense that they would serve delicious spicy curry. I enjoyed my coffee here. Despite the not-so-great location, it seemed like they had a loyal fan base.

Located about 10 minutes from Kyoto Station, I stopped by on my way back. Even on a Sunday, there were a few people who arrived before the opening hours. The coconut curry was especially delicious. Personally, I found the fried chicken to be just okay.

A spice curry restaurant located about 10 minutes away from Kyoto Station. A spice curry restaurant from Tottori has expanded to Kyoto. The restaurant is located in a back alley and has a stylish appearance. I visited the restaurant on Saturday at around 7:30 pm. I had the Pork Keema Curry and Coconut Curry combo curry for ¥1,050. The curry has a gentle level of spiciness. The Pork Keema has a moderate level of spiciness. The Coconut Curry has a sweetness from the coconut milk. It goes well with shrimp. Thank you for the meal!

Aigake curry for 1150 yen. Add 50 yen for the large chicken and pork keema rice. It's a popular spice curry shop in Tottori, but it's located in a hidden alley in Kyoto, which is a bit puzzling. The taste is solid and sometimes there's a line. The saffron rice is firm and the spice curry customized for the Japanese palate is exquisite. In addition to common spices like cumin and cardamom, several spices harmonize beautifully. The large portion is satisfying even for men. It may not be spicy enough for those who love super spicy food, but it's spicy, so it might be a bit too hot for children. They provide a sauce with green chili peppers for those who like it spicy. It's customized for the Japanese taste, so I think Japanese rice goes well with it, but if they had basmati rice, I would go there once a week! Thank you for the meal.

In Kyoto's Shimogyo Ward, there is a curry restaurant called "Aigake Curry" where I ordered the Pork Keema curry and the Shrimp curry. The side dishes were plentiful, including bell peppers, bean sprouts, carrots, daikon radish, onions, pickles, and a hummus-like mashed bean dish. The Shrimp curry was light and fragrant, with a subtle shrimp flavor. The Pork Keema curry was easy to eat but had a good level of spiciness. The most popular menu item among customers was the combination of Coconut curry with another curry. The counter seats near the entrance make it easy for solo diners to relax. I was able to walk in without waiting before noon on a weekday, but it got crowded quickly around 12:30.

Recently, the price range at curry restaurants has become quite wide. There are some places where you can eat for around 1200-1500 yen. Ajipai offers a two-curry set for 1050 yen, which is relatively affordable. The curry may not be flashy, but it is solid and delicious. Sometimes, a slightly milder flavor like this is better for a place you want to visit multiple times. The two-curry set includes a must-have pork keema curry and another choice that the customer can pick. The options to choose from are chicken curry, shrimp curry, and coconut curry. This time, I chose shrimp. Just to note, there are only two choices available for the set. I have been here several times, and the taste is consistently good without any variations. The restaurant is tucked away in an alley, so be careful not to miss it. It can get crowded on weekends, but it's worth a visit.

The area around Kyoto Station still has few spice curry restaurants, but I was curious about this one in Kawaramachi Shichijo. It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The restaurant is tucked away in a slightly hidden location down a side street. Inside, there are about 3 counter seats and 3 four-person tables. I was seated at a table by the staff and warned to watch out for the step at my feet, but I still managed to stumble right away, showcasing my clumsiness. I ordered the "Aigake Curry," which is a combination of pork keema curry with a choice of 2 out of 3 options (chicken curry, shrimp curry, coconut curry). I chose the coconut curry. The rice was turmeric rice, cooked slightly firm and just right for the curry. The pork keema had a good balance of spices, mild spiciness, and a strong minced meat texture, making it an easy-to-eat keema curry. The coconut curry had a pleasant sweetness from the coconut milk, with richness and creaminess, followed by a refreshing spiciness at the end. It's not as strong in flavor or spiciness as green curry, so it's a perfect blend of sweet and spicy that makes you want to keep eating spoonful after spoonful. The soup-like consistency is quite thin, so it really feels like "curry is a drink"! The lentils, pickles, and bean sprouts on the side plate are a nice touch to reset your palate. I hope more spice curry restaurants will open up around Kyoto Station when the art university relocates there. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Friday 19:05 To Ajipai-san, I had wanted to repeat since I first used it, but I went when it was not open at night due to Corona (now there is business information on Instagram), and finally repeated. Two groups of previous customers, two people. I was guided to a three-person table in the back and sat down. The store is filled with a good smell of spices. Ai-gake curry 1,050 yen Karaage (2 pieces) 320 yen Ai-gake curry is fixed with Tottori's pork keema curry and you can choose one more as before. The price has gone up a bit, hasn't it? The coconut was quite good last time, but it wouldn't be interesting if it was exactly the same, so this time I chose shrimp curry. I also remember that the karaage was delicious. It's a combination that makes you want to drink beer, but during the state of emergency, alcohol was not available all day, so I had to endure. I enjoyed the curry after a long time. The coconut left a great impression, so I would like to repeat it again. Thank you for the meal.

This is a curry restaurant located in a back alley. I drove there but got a bit lost (^_^;) There is a coin parking lot a little further away. I ordered the dinner set, which included a combination curry with keema curry and shrimp curry salad, along with ice cream, for 1250 yen. The keema curry was slightly spicy and the shrimp curry had just the right amount of heat. The ice cream was like a rich vanilla with caramel on top, very delicious. I went on a weekday night and it was full.

The atmosphere of the alley was really nice. The curry and fried chicken were delicious. The ice cream after the curry was also tasty. The curry had just the right amount of spiciness, not too hot or sweet. The side dishes were also carefully prepared. I used a nearby coin parking lot.
