I went to a restaurant that offers half-price kamadaki udon on the 1st of every month after work, for the first time in about 10 months. The selection of fried foods was limited, but I chose the chikuwa isobe (seaweed-wrapped fish cake) for 100 yen (tax included). The kamadaki udon was a great deal at 310 yen (tax included) for two servings instead of the usual 620 yen. It was delicious with a satisfying texture and seemed like more than two servings. The chikuwa isobe turned out to be a half portion, as I learned from the receipt. Overall, it was a tasty meal.

Last spring, I tried Marugame Seimen's Duck and Green Onion Udon for the first time and it was delicious, so I was looking forward to it again this year. It seems like it has been extended until April, but it will end once it runs out. When I went to the Nagayoshi store, it was already sold out, but I decided to try my luck at the Matsubara store... and they had it! The Duck and Green Onion Udon had been available for a while, but the price remained the same with double the amount of duck meat as a generous and happy campaign! The sweet and rich broth was delicious! The grilled green onions were just right, and the duck meat was tender and tasty. And the scent of yuzu was nice. The udon noodles were chewy and slightly thick, which paired well with the broth. I will continue to keep an eye on Marugame Seimen's limited-time udon offerings in the future!

Hmm, I heard that the clam udon is a seasonal limited menu at Marugame Seimen Matsubara store, so I came here. Despite multiple price increases and a decrease in customers, their takeout udon bento during the pandemic seems to be quite popular. I ordered the clam udon I was looking forward to. They boiled the udon for me, and I waited by the register for the finishing clam soup. I waited and waited for the generous amount of clams to be added, and even though they might not be domestic, the visual presentation was good. I also got a small rice ball and vegetable tempura. When I tried to add some green onions at the self-topping station, a friendly female staff immediately brought them to me. The male staff seemed reluctant and left them there, which was a bit disappointing. As I started eating and digging through the plenty of clams, I noticed that the udon was overcooked and stretchy. Due to the significant time lost from boiling the udon, the clam broth's flavor stood out even more, emphasizing the stretchy texture of the udon. The tempura, which couldn't soak in the broth, was cold and oily, making it mediocre. Despite spending over 1000 yen, this menu choice was a disappointment. I might as well go to Tsurutontan, where the quality is better. But then again, there aren't many Tsurutontan stores around here.

On the 1st of every month, it's Kamatama Udon Day at this restaurant. You can get Kamatama Udon at half price. I went there after work, even though it was drizzling. There weren't many customers, maybe because of the rain. I ordered the Kamatama Udon set (2 servings) for 270 yen and a kashiwa tempura for 170 yen. I think Marugame Seimen's udon is delicious, but I always crave for fried food. The freshly fried kashiwa tempura in front of me was okay, but not amazing. Overall, it was a satisfying meal for less than a coin. Thank you for the meal!

I went to the restaurant after work on the 1st of the month, which is the day when the kettle-cooked udon is half price. It was still early, so there weren't many customers yet. I ordered the Kettle-cooked Udon Set (2 servings) for 530 yen, which was discounted to 260 yen. I chose freshly fried horse mackerel tempura for 160 yen. I also used a free coupon for grated daikon worth 80 yen. The udon was delicious with a firm texture, but the dipping sauce seemed a bit stronger than usual. The grated daikon didn't change the flavor much. It was a hot day, and I ended up sweating a lot, but the meal was delicious.

After work today, I had dinner at a place recommended by you. It's summer limited, and they just started serving chilled noodles. I also ordered the vegetable tempura you suggested last time, but this time I used your advice and added tempura bits to make a delicious chilled noodle dish. The total cost was 550 yen including a coupon. The chilled noodles were delicious as always, even better than hot udon in my opinion. I don't usually consider tempura bits as an ingredient because they're just lumps of oil, but when I tried them in the chilled noodles, they were surprisingly tasty. The tempura bits from Marugame Seimen are homemade. The combination of chilled noodles and tempura bits was great and very filling for the price. It was delicious.

On the 1st of every month, it's Kamadaki Udon Day where you can enjoy Kamadaki Udon at half price. Today, after working overtime for 2 hours, I arrived at the restaurant a bit late and was surprised to see how popular it was. It took me about 15 minutes to reach the order counter.
I ordered the Kamadaki Udon set (2 servings) for 270 yen (tax included) and also tried a vegetable tempura for 150 yen (tax included) and rice for 140 yen (tax included). I decided to make a dashi chazuke by pouring hot dashi over the tempura and rice. However, the faucet for the dashi was too low, making it difficult to pour it properly.
As I tried to eat the dish, I encountered another problem - the tempura was too tall to eat smoothly. So, I ended up eating the tempura and rice separately with dashi sauce on each. It turned out to be a satisfying way to enjoy the meal.
Overall, the experience taught me that soggy rice with dashi has a great volume, and although the dish wasn't perfect, it was still delicious.

On the 1st of every month, Marugame Seimen celebrates "Kama-age Udon Day" with their familiar promotion making a comeback after a long time. I had been using this promotion so many times that I had gotten tired of it, but now I am happy to see it back as a regular part of daily life. I ordered the Kama-age Udon (Special) for 260 yen (tax included) instead of the usual 530 yen, and also tried the Inari Sushi for 120 yen (tax included) for the first time. The Kama-age Udon process at Marugame Seimen is actually not true Kama-age style, as I had heard from rumors. However, watching the process closely, it seems like they do take the udon out of the pot before serving it in the bowl. Maybe the Kama-age Udon Day is the only day they sell true Kama-age Udon to meet the demand. The Kama-age Udon was delicious as always, and the Inari Sushi had a sweet flavor that made me want to keep eating more. It was surprisingly well-made and showed the care put into it by the chef. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

The first day of every month is the day when Marugame Seimen's Kamatama Udon is half price! It's back after a long time! Maybe that's why... no, it's different. I think it's because today was special, it was cold, so the customers were overflowing! To be precise, it was hard to even reach the cash register. The seating area was relatively empty. I ordered the Kamatama Udon set (2 servings) for 510 yen, now 250 yen (tax included), vegetable tempura for 140 yen (tax included), and free service of tempura dipping sauce with grated radish. They were a bit slow in preparing the special large bowl for the Kamatama Udon set, so they served it in a regular bowl, but with double the amount. It felt unnecessarily luxurious! But the tray couldn't hold it all. Udon is really good! It feels like warming up from the inside out. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On the 1st of every month, Marugame Udon offers half-price on their Kamatama Udon, and this time it made a comeback after a while. Not only on 11/1, but also on 11/2, the Kamatama Udon was half-price. I took advantage of this deal and ordered the Kamatama Udon set (2 bowls) for 250 yen (tax included). To make it a more satisfying meal, I also ordered a side dish of Pacific saury tempura for 150 yen (tax included). It was a limited-time menu item, and it was good. Today, I had the Kamatama Udon at Marugame Udon for the first time in a while, and it was delicious. The udon noodles and the broth were to my liking. The Pacific saury tempura was also quite good. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the meal!

On the 1st of every month, Marugame Seimen usually has a half-price promotion for their Kamaage Udon, but this month it was not held. Instead, they issued coupons for half-price Kamaage Udon for a whole month. I went after work and ordered the Kamaage Udon (regular size) for 140 yen (tax included) and the Butatama Don for 420 yen (tax included). Marugame Seimen surprisingly has a variety of rice bowl options. The Butatama Don was served in a small bowl, similar to their Katsudon and Wagyu Beef Don. The taste was good, with a slightly strong flavor that I personally enjoyed. It was my first time trying the Butatama Don and it did not disappoint. Overall, the Kamaage Udon was delicious as always, with a rich broth that I particularly enjoy. It was a satisfying meal.

Marugame Seimen's first ever Oyakodon was quite a hot topic when it was released, right? It's a Oyakodon with plenty of broth using Marugame's udon broth, and the egg is soaked in the flavor. I also had the Chikuwa Tempura, which was big and very satisfying. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

After finishing work, I just wanted to have a leisurely meal outside, but all the restaurants were closed. So, I ended up going to a local fried chicken shop that had recently opened to buy a bento, but even that was sold out. Oh well, that's life. I decided to try a menu item that I had been curious about for a while: W Katsu Don for 820 yen (tax included). They fried the tonkatsu after I ordered, although it wasn't the most efficient process. The appearance was a bit plain, not as impressive as expected, but the thick and flavorful tonkatsu was delicious. Bon appétit!

After work for two days in a row, I took advantage of the half-price Marugame Seimen Kamatama Udon day. I ordered the same Kamatama Udon set as yesterday, which was priced at 510 yen (tax included) but now discounted to 250 yen. The udon came in a regular ceramic bowl instead of the usual wooden bucket, which was a bit disappointing in terms of atmosphere. The dipping sauce that came with it was different today, with one large portion instead of two small ones like yesterday. I like having two portions because I can enjoy changing the condiments. Despite these small differences, the Kamatama Udon was delicious as always. I also tried the sweet potato tempura for 120 yen (tax included) and lotus root tempura for 110 yen (tax included). They were okay, but nothing special. I left the udon ticket on the table again, hoping that someone nice will take it. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Marugame Seimen offers half-price Kamatama Udon on the 1st of every month! This month, they are offering this special deal for 2 days on 4/1 and 4/2. To avoid crowds and for social distancing, I decided to order for the first time in about a year. I got the Kamatama Udon (2 servings) for 250 yen and vegetable tempura for 140 yen. The udon had a nice chewy texture and the vegetable tempura was crispy and delicious. I always enjoy the tempura at Marugame Seimen. I used the dipping sauce provided on the table and it was tasty. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. As a side note, I received a udon ticket at the cashier, which can be collected for various rewards. However, the one-month expiration period seems too short. I decided to leave the extra udon ticket on the condiment stand for someone else to use.

Today, I finished work at the site in the morning. In the afternoon, I went to Matsubara City to purchase equipment for training. After buying the equipment, we had a late lunch. Since we were in a car, we looked for a restaurant with parking and headed towards Fukae Bridge. We saw a tonkatsu restaurant and a Marugame Seimen (udon noodle) restaurant, so I asked my companion which one they preferred. They chose Marugame Seimen, so we went there. I had only been to the Marugame Seimen in Shinsaibashi shopping street once before. I usually go to Tsurumaru Udon or Hanamaru Udon, so it felt a bit pricey. When we entered the restaurant, it was past 1 PM and there were quite a few customers. They seemed to have recently started offering lunch sets from 500 yen. I was a bit hungry, so I was interested in the chicken tartare bowl and the oyster tartare bowl. I chose the oyster tartare bowl with bukkake (udon noodles with sauce). The bukkake was 300 yen including tax, and the oyster tartare bowl was around 500 yen. I paid and added green onions, ginger, and tempura flakes to the bukkake. I slurped the udon noodles, which were firm and had a distinctive shape. I'm not sure how they would be rated in Kagawa Prefecture, but the udon noodles were delicious. I tried a piece of oyster without dipping it in tartare sauce first - it was slightly over-fried but had a nice oyster flavor. With tartare sauce, it tasted a bit indulgent. I couldn't finish all the tartare sauce, but I easily finished the rice with cabbage on top. It was a tasty meal.

It's getting hotter day by day these days. The state of emergency has been lifted, and the crowds are increasing rapidly. People are gradually returning to their daily lives while taking precautions. (However, there are still some irresponsible people acting without awareness of the situation...) Now, when it comes to casual udon, this place is a go-to. This time, I had the "Tan Tan Udon/Regular (670 yen)". It's spicy, but the broth is mild. I also chose two types of tempura. The classic "Vegetable Kakiage (140 yen)" and freshly fried "Quail Tempura (150 yen)". I also used my 3 udon stamps to get a "Hot Spring Egg (70 yen)" and added it to the Tan Tan Udon, enhancing its mildness. With all this, I was completely satisfied. 😊🍜

Father and son having lunch together during the father's temporary closure and the son's vacation. The son, lacking any strong preferences, simply said "udon is fine," so they decided to stop by a nearby restaurant. The father ordered the limited-time "Spicy Beef Sukiyaki Kamatama" and some tempura, while the son opted for the "Toro Tamago" with squid tempura and lotus root tempura. The Spicy Beef Sukiyaki Kamatama had a sweet and spicy flavor, with the beef cooked to order. However, the strong sweetness and spiciness seemed to clash rather than blend well. The egg added a creamy texture, but overall, the dish fell a bit short of expectations.

Saturday work is sad. I treated myself to some indulgence with bukkake udon (cold) for 300 yen (tax included), along with maiitake tempura for 140 yen (tax included), vegetable tempura for 140 yen (tax included), croquette for 120 yen (tax included), and pickled ginger tempura for 120 yen (tax included). Hmm... even as night falls, my stomach remains bloated in a strange way. The size of the maiitake tempura was large, but I didn't feel satisfied after eating it, which is a bit scary. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
