SUSU
Visited a monja-yaki restaurant called "Monja Mugi Nagahoribashi" near Nagahoribashi Station in Osaka with a friend. We were patrolling Minami as usual, visiting about four places, when my friend suddenly said, "I'm hungry! I want to eat something." Seriously?! I was already drunk, so I was really tipsy! Then, we found this restaurant. The interior had counter seats and small tables. The waiter was a good-looking guy, and he provided great service that would surely please female customers. Even though it was 30 minutes before closing time, they let us in. After us, more customers came in, and they had to turn some away due to lack of seats. I looked at the menu for monja-yaki. They even had a special monja called "Natsuki Mari Special"! It's a special monja dish created by Natsuki Mari, born out of favoritism for the Tsukishima main store. I also noticed a Sichuan-style monja on the menu, but my friend stopped me from ordering it (laughs). So, we ordered the "Mugi Special" instead. The waiter made a mound of dough on the hot plate, poured the batter in, flattened it out nicely, and then flipped it over with a spatula. The ingredients included cabbage, shimeji mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, shrimp, pork, carrots, corn, chikuwa, and more. There were a total of 10 different ingredients. The cabbage was cut into large pieces. I remember being warned at another restaurant before not to let the monja stick to the hot plate because it would burn, but here they said, "You can cook it to your liking, so enjoy it however you prefer." If the monja gets burnt, the waiter will scrape it off with a big spatula, flip the dough, and mix it in for you. The flavor was quite strong, with a pronounced bonito taste. It would probably go really well with beer, but I had drunk too much at the previous place and couldn't even finish my highball (laughs). My friend was so hungry that he even ordered the "Iron Plate Hormone". They wrapped the cooked dish in silver foil and placed it on the hot plate to keep it hot. It stayed hot the whole time. I took a bite, and it really worked out my jaw muscles! If you like monja, you'll be delighted with this place. Now that our bellies are full, it's time to head home. Thanks for the meal!
