Chidoriya is located at the entrance of the shopping street on the south side of Kintetsu Kawachi-Kosaka Station. When you buy sweets, they offer you black soybean tea, which is a nice service, although I refrained from it today considering the current situation. I saw some sweetfish-shaped rice cakes, so I bought one. The cute sweetfish design made me feel guilty eating it, but I couldn't resist and ended up enjoying it after dinner. It cost 150 yen. I'm thinking of going back for some rice cakes when the season comes. Hopefully, by then, the state of emergency will have come to an end.

▼Location▼ Located on the south side of Kintetsu Kawachi-Kosaka Station, next to the entrance of Sky Dome Kosaka Hontsu Shopping Street. ▼About the Shop▼ The Chidoriya Sokei was founded in 1630 in Saga under the name "Shogetsudo." In 1954, the business was inherited by the son of Harada Tsuyu, who divided it into different areas. In the Kansai area, the third son, Harada Tanaichiro, took over in 1973, and in 1986, the current "Chidoriya Sokei" was established. ▼Menu▼ They offer various sweets such as Honchidori, Chidori Sabure, Marubouro, and Castella. ▼Food Consumed▼ ▽Honchidori (6 pieces) 907 yen▽ (April 2019) This is a type of chidori manju called "Honchidori" at Chidoriya Sokei. It comes in a set of 6 pieces. The slightly Western-style manju dough made from wheat and eggs pairs well with the smooth white bean paste. It is soft and easy to eat, suitable for the elderly and children. ▼Impressions▼ (April 2019) This chain of stores with a history dating back to 1630 originated from a traditional Japanese confectionery shop. Over time, a main branch was established in Fukuoka's Iizuka, which then led to the creation of various Chidoriya stores in different areas under the leadership of Harada Tsuyu's descendants. The Sokei branch, which was entrusted with the Kansai area in 1973, was officially established as Chidoriya Sokei in 1986. Despite the different names, the main focus remains on Chidori manju and similar sweets. This time, I purchased the Honchidori from the Sokei branch after a long time. It's a nostalgic taste that I've been familiar with since long ago, simple and rustic. It may not have a sophisticated flavor, but such traditional sweets are still essential and I hope they continue to be available in the future. I would like to visit again in the future.

I had some "warabi mochi" and they also offered me some tea. The tea had beans in it, giving it a delicious and fragrant taste. When I asked what the little bits inside were, they said they were black beans, which are good for your health. The beans are edible too. It was so tasty! I also bought some "black bean tea". The small warabi mochi was made with real warabi and was chewy with kinako powder on top. It cost 290 yen plus tax. The black bean tea was easy to make at home and cost 480 yen plus tax. I enjoyed the warabi mochi with the black bean tea and felt grateful to be Japanese.

I tried the palm-sized round bolo for the first time. It's bigger than regular soba bolo and softer. It's delicious and a must-try as one of Osaka's famous confections.

On April 30, 2011, [Souvenir] When I went back to my parents' house during Golden Week, my aunt was there and she gave me a souvenir. I also bought some at the Sanjo store in Nara the other day, but it's so delicious that I can eat it over and over again. ● Mitarashi Mochi 12 pieces for 650 yen It's a reversed version of mitarashi dango. The mochi is soft and delicious, and it has sweet mitarashi filling inside. Just by turning it upside down, it has transformed into a completely different traditional Japanese sweet. It's a delicious sweet that you can eat as many as you want. In the past, Chidori Manju was the main item, but now mitarashi mochi is always displayed prominently at the storefront. When you visit Osaka, I highly recommend trying this traditional Japanese sweet. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

When you go inside, you'll find the famous mitarashi dango with plenty of mitarashi sauce. There are various other things sold as well. I used to stop by often in high school, buy some and take it home, then eat it with a happy smile on my face. I really like traditional Japanese sweets, so I often buy them for myself. It's also nice to buy delicious things as souvenirs or for a date and then go back home. When I brought them to people who didn't know about them, they were pleasantly surprised by the mitarashi dango. Even though they are delicious, be careful not to eat too much!

I usually use this place for small souvenirs, for example, someone in my family will buy red and white manju for the moon-viewing festival or for some celebration (you need to reserve 2-3 days in advance at the Osaka store). Inside, there are mitarashi dango with sweet soy sauce and red and white manju which are recommended. Well, the water sweets are also delicious. The red and white manju had more red bean paste inside than I expected, and I was surprised by how heavy it was when I held it. The price is a bit high, but as a souvenir, I think it's on the cheaper side.
